Virtual PC is okay, but it can be a dog running XP. I have better luck with parallels.

Yes, you will still need a valid Windows License. Maybe one day the WINE project will get ported over to MacOS

It allows you to run MacOS and Windows at the same time! You do not have to reboot every time you want/need to run a windows app. This will come in handy at colleges since most require you to use some kind of Microsoft app (i.e. Project, Office, Lotus Notes, Internet Explorer).

there literally wasn't room for us at the top of the mountain, so we all turned around and headed back down right away.

people were double parked at the initial meeting place.

and at the ski resort where we took our big group picture, we used a bigass field in order to get everyone in the shot.

it was seriously the most fun i've ever had in a car....

though the 15 straight hours of driving made things painful.

500 is a lot of cars

      130 is almost too many.

by the end of the day i was glad i could close my exhaust. i was getting tired of hearing all the rumble... +road/wind noise from cruising through north washington at 80-100mph...

i really need to go get those pictures though.

We live about 2.5 hours west of Chitown though, so it would be way out of your way.

Yeah, well if you ever come back through let me know so I can go for a ride in the Mini (gets a hard on at the thought) err, yeah.

Oops, ya I am iin Illinois, so its like a ways away. I meant to say that I was in Illinois though. Well, have fun with the remainder of your trip.

That's why they rebuilt the motor. Complete stroker kit and head fixed that problem. They also fixed the "popping transfer case/tranny" issue by replacing it outright with a rally tcase/tranny.

It's primarily a drag car but it had plates and lights. The cage hadn't been installed yet so we were using it around town.

You know, to break in the motor. :)

There's something totally impressive every time you stomp on the gas in one of those. Then you crap your pants when you hit the nitrous. Seriously, I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it.

    • Rental01

Yeah - you'll see signs like "free dirt for sale" or "fill dirt for sale" or "good dirt for sale"

The first one is my favorite. :)

I rode in a 1000 whp Evo VIII a friend of mine built for a customer. New turbo, intercooler, head, cams, stroker kit, transaxle, injectors, exhaust, nitrous system with foggers for the intercooler and a 300lb tank in the trunk. It's fun to sit at a light and burn all 4 tires from a dead stop, then still beat all the other cars around you to the next light 2 blocks away as they race to try to beat you. Now, having the car twist a little to the right as it burns all 4 tires is a bit disturbing, esp as there are other cars around you trying to beat you to the next light.

Man, if I ever have money...

I would LOVE an STi. At a place I used to work there were a couple people who owned them. Hearing them rumble through the garage was amazing.

Take your time. There's a lot of really pretty land out there. Sometimes you need to just look for it. There's a rest stop outside of Laramie. I forget the name but it has these old stones that were placed in a circle over teepees to keep them sealed from the wicked Wyoming winter winds. We stopped there a couple times. Very cool.

Enjoy your trip and drive safe. Really. If you see a WRX tear past you it's just my best friend "testing" out his new turbo (16G) downpipe, intake, fuel pump, and injectors. He got it finished yesterday (minus the injectors I think) and he's running at 1 BAR solid well into the revlimiter. Nitrous is next.

      Have fun!

Getting sick of the "Little America" signs? We actually stopped once in a while. It depended on the trip and how we were doing. We've made the drive from Sacramento to Denver probably 8 times.

Well, remember that you have Califrornia plates . . . you stand out and can be easily seen.

BTW- I usually roll-up a small hand towel and use it for a lumbar support. Works well on those long drives.

    • cbetts

Why did it take so long? Were you stopping alot along the way to sight see?

Yeah, I pretty much took my time and just cruised. I was in no hurry to reach the end. I wish the Solstice had room for luggage with the roof down . . . smiley4.gif

my dad pulled out a small Chevy Vega 6 Cly. 2.2 liter engine he had laying around would work pretty good in a mini give in around 300 Hp. and a Turbo Charger that was designed for Nascar's back in the late 90's. probably would save us about 5 grand.

    • erikkson

yeah, i give you a lot of credit keeping up and passing most of the cars their. thats pretty sweet. from the video you were doing pretty good the steet tires made you a little loose and you compromised and still did good.

Sorry I have never been up to Oakhurst to see you. Everytime we make a trip to Modesto, we are running late. Now with Ellen in the condidtion she is in, making long trips will have to wait until the end of the year.

it's a pretty solid community, I was just referring to the kids who hop on for like a week and then disappear. I hate when that happens, it probably doesn't happen here too much like in other places because its updated so often

Ah I see. Yeah.. having those extra bars probably was a very good thing. Though I have to admit, I think I'd prefer my skid plate.. ;-)

At least you don't have the same problems us VW guys have on cruises... you always loose at least 1 car to the side of the road due to breakdown... usually it's a MkI/II though, either heavily modded or just under maintained.
