Wow... Sounds like you've been busy! .. and sore!

The family and I are doing as well as ever. I'm done with the cold, but given where you live, I guess I ain't got room to bitch, eh?

I've retired, again. 3 heart surgeries, one shoulder surgery, other than that I'm fine. How are you and the family doing? Miss the old days of RvB.

Calling for snow flurries here tomorrow night. Why can't the Canadians keep that lousy weather up there instead of sharing it with us. Getting ready for hunting season. The damn deer that keep wrecking the trees in my orchard will soon be on the table for dinner.

Wow, are you getting this kind of snow and is it still falling? Seems to be a lot even for Alaska. It's been crazy here. 25F, blowing snow with whiteouts yesterday. Probably about 3" accumulation in 2 hours. Today, 60F and sunny.

Legs are much better. Rehab is now working on muscle strengthening. Hows the shoulder doing?

Shoulder is doing good, it's my Lt shoulder and left hip that hurt now, they are doing most of the work. Changed sides of the bed and I can get up without help now. Had to call Stephen aka MurryBob on his cell to help get me up. He was in the basement. that went over real big lol. Glad to hear that you're doing better~~~~Steve

How goes the shoulder? Hopefully, doing better every day. Knee was killing me so I went to the doc. I was given a shot that left me on a two day high. Poor Dear Wife was almost out of her mind by the time I crashed. Told me I tried several times to get dressed and go to work. She hid the car keys just in case. FINALLY, I got the scoop on why I hurt so bad. The surgeon told me there was nothing I could do short of falling to damage the new knee. The physical therapist told me the reason my knee was burning was because I was over exercising and putting too much weight on it. He told me to cut back on the walking and use a cane or walker. Since I started doing that, the burning has quit. Today, I hit another bench mark by being able to completely pedal the stationary bike. Maybe there is hope for me yet. Hope you are doing well.......cheers Carl

One more moose story. I was rebuilding a 200 year old house in New Hampshire and decided to put a picture window in the living room. One afternoon I was sleeping on the sofa under the window when I felt something was just not right. I opened my eyes and looked up to see a HUGH bull moose actually crouching down to look through the window. Then the scary thought came of what happens if he thinks he sees another moose? Am I going to end up with 900 pounds on the sofa with me? As luck would have it, he finally ambled off down the plowed drive and disappeared into the woods across the street. We didn't see him again until Spring when I had just plowed and planted my garden and the big oaf walked through it with his giant feet wrecking everything.

it's going pretty good. getting used to the hard work load. it's very different than the field school I did cause we're not always on established sites, we do the finding of sites too. the find sounds a lot cooler than it really is. in truth you just dig a bunch of holes and see if anything's in them.

but it's a job and it'll lead me somewhere better and it's good experience....at least that's what I'm trying to tell myself

      how have you been?

I'm sooo sad, I actually lost my Alaska hat. It was my favorite, but when I started getting all my old gear out....it was no where to be found :( I was pretty bummed to be honest with you.

How long do the diffrent type of residue last? Any way of detecting by type?

For freaking ever. RDX for over 10 years.

There are probably ways of detecting type, but they're more concerned with being able to detect in the 1stplace.

Come up to Alaska and we well take you blueberry picking. MurryBob and I will stand guard (Bears love blueberries too)

Haha, that would be beyond awesome...minus the potentially getting mauled by bears part.

Did you see that latest email that is floating around about the Alaskan bush pilot that had his plane destroyed by a bear trying to get a cooler? The last picture in the email is the plane temporarily repaired with plastic and duct tape so it could be flown out for repair. If all this is true, that pilot has to be one heck of a man.

I can't do much else at the moment. Two days ago, Dear Wife went to the local garden center and bought 10 trees that were on sale. The largest was 15 feet high and weighed about 300 pounds. I am still sore all over from all the digging and screwing around trying to get them planted. Hey, I'm supposed to be retired...WTF!!!
