Here we go again. Been a long time that I've been on here, even longer since I made a journal entry but Season 11 is starting up so I have come back. Quick catch up, I'm not a Flight Attendant anymore, am currently working at Aldis, going for my herbalist license, I'm now married and I'm still generally confused about life. If anyone reads this you're caught up. Apart from that, super excited about more RvB...who isn't right? And uh, hope all of my friends here are doing well. The end.

    • Sooo...

Been absent a while...did not mean to do that but life has been absolutely crazy. In a nut shell, I'm still a Flight Attendant and still hating it (had to miss RTX this year because they forced me to work...stupid seniority). I'm also planning a wedding, completely cleaning out my house, trying to buy a new one and continuously trying to pay the bills with money I don't have. So it's been hectic.

On a lighter note I have now officially partied in New York, New Orleans, Oklahoma City (who'd have thunk), Austin, San Antonio, Denver and Bangor (with several other cities visited in between), which has broadened my perspective on life but has thrown into stark reality my desire to be at home in St. Louis where I belong. I'm working on it but so far, no dice.

And onto another subject, if anyone actually reads this, how has everyone else been? Have lives been getting in the way? I know I have a slew of back logged stuff to go through, so maybe I'll catch a little bit of what's been going on by going through that. Or maybe ADD will stop me half way through by drawing my attention to something shiny, hell I don't know, it happens.

Anyway, nothing else to report. Have a wonderful day. Namaste!

    • Austin Layover...

My first Austin layover...need I say more? Nope, but I'm going to. First off...cloud cover. Really sun? After all that smack that RT talks about you...you go and hide behind clouds...pathetic. Second, dollar margaritas across the street smiley11.gif and a rule that you don't need to stop drinking until 12 hours before your flight...yeah. And lastly, 78 degrees and an outdoor pool...I am liking Austin (even with the sun being stupid).

Anyway, I'm here for the next 21 hours so I better get comfy. I just wish I had the money to rent a car or get a cab so I could lurk outside RTs property and snap pictures from the bushes. Alas, I don't...so that ideas out, but it's fun to imagine.

    • Giving Up....

      AKlinker85

So, I've made my decision. I'm giving up being a Flight Attendant. I've been doing this for five months now and I just can't take it anymore. Free travel is not worth never being home, suffering from jet lag constantly, never being able to plan anything more than a couple of weeks in advance, putting up with children pretending to be adults, and gaining weight because of it. It's ridiculous and I've had enough. So I'm trying to join up with the Department of Homeland Security. It comes with federal benefits, a pay raise, I'll be home every night and I will never have to wear makeup or high heels again...insert relieved sigh here... Hopefully it will actually go somewhere.

As far as everything else goes, that's about it. I'm chillin' right now in Portland, Maine (I swear I can't type, read or say state names without thinking about Freelancers) and am dreaming of home. If you're wondering, yes, it is absolutely gorgeous here; still chilly since we're so far north but eh, take the bad with the good. No, I haven't tried any lobster yet but will later tonight and yes, it is worth visiting, especially if you like old houses, light houses and fresh sea food. That is one aspect I will miss about the job...seeing new places. But I look at it like this: if it's worth visiting then I can save up the money to visit it. Maybe then I'll get to see more than just a hotel room and an airport.

    • Hitching a Ride...

So, I got stuck in Denver last night...which sounds like a bad start to a crappy dime store novel, but I swear it...stuck in Denver and I gotta say...kinda pissed at the moment about it. As such, I need to vent. Ready? Too bad.

So, anyway I was supposed to be going home after a three day trip last night; flew across a couple of time zones, put up with 66 children, sorry adults, etc., but right before our last leg the plane decides to break on us and strand us in Denver...at 9:30 at night. Late right? Yeah we thought so. Anyway, we stayed the night...again, geeze I was just there two nights ago, got up early today and made our way to the airport thinking we were going to fly the plane back to St. Louis with no passengers on board. Sounded like a solid plan, we were hopeful but nope...too easy. Apparently the mechanics in St. Louis decided not to send the necessary parts out last night, so as a result the parts for our plane won't be in until 4, leaving us stranded here until then.

So you'd think we'd be stuck right? At the mercy of a plane that hated us? Ha, ha...nope. See, that plan didn't "fly" (ha ha, I made a funny) with the other flight attendant and I so, what do we do? We sweet talked...bribed really...one of the gate agents and managed to hitch a ride on another flight going to St. Louis at 12:20! Take that scheduling. The only problem is, it's at 12:20, and today was supposed to be my day off, so I am still kind of miffed, and sitting in this airport waiting on a plane isn't making my mood any better. Still, at least I am going home, can't say the same for the pilots. They actually have to wait around till the plane is fixed, so I guess it could be worse.

So anyway that's it, and since I have to start walking now, I finish with the immortal words of the guy from Clerks, when he said, and I quote: "I wasn't even supposed to be here today."

    • Working Too Much...

Alright, I got home late last night after being gone on a four day trip and woke up this morning in my own bed momentarily confused because I thought I was in a hotel room. That is how I know I've been working too much. Still, I'm at home now, chilling and watching Empire Records (love that movie) so I'm going to enjoy it while I can. I'm on call for the next two days but hopefully I won't be getting another call until January...hopefully...

    • I Passed...

Well, I passed my tests...finally. Flew for three days over the weekend...passed one position but not the other so I had to go back out yesterday, flew all day and am proud to say that I am now a fully fledged, fully certified Flight Attendant, which is going to take all of my time so be prepared to be bored to death, lol. I have been to a lot of cities already though, which is pretty cool. Spent the night in Toronto Friday, spent the night in Cincinnati Saturday, I've been to Boise, Denver, Baltimore, Washington-Dulles...and there's more to come. I'm still waiting for my flight to Austin...I have some serious stalking to do, lol. So, that's pretty much my life up till now. My house is getting messy because my husband is home while I'm not, I'm jet lagged (major jet lag-they say it goes away), my feet hurt because of the heels but I'm having a lot of fun! I'm glad I made this decision :)

    • First Flight...

      AKlinker85

Alright, now I'm nervous. I was scared before my final but now I'm just mortified. I'm going on my Initial Flights this weekend for my final test towards becoming a Flight Attendant and I'm totally freaking out. It's going to be a three day trip starting Friday and I have to remember everything I learned in training perfectly or I'll be fired. As if that wasn't stressful enough, I'm going to be assuming the FA position, with a Check Airman breathing down my neck, critiquing everything I do on a flight to CANADA!! Yeah, an international flight my first time out. I'm gonna die or at least be really sick. None of the others that have gotten scheduled are going to Canada...I'm being picked on...it's a conspiracy! Still, I do get to overnight in Toronto so I guess that's not too bad, even if I will be reviewing that entire time but seriously...why couldn't my first flight have been to Austin or at least somewhere warm! They've got my coat on back order, back order! That means I don't have it and their sending me to Canada? Sniff. Why me? But I digress. Oddly enough, venting here has made me feel a little better about the whole situation. Maybe it won't be too bad...or maybe I'll get blizzarded in somewhere, hell I don't know. All that matters is that I will be certified finally and that's what really counts, right? Right. Sigh...I remember when my life used to be all about home, family, friends, video games, books, writing and social websites...I'm beginning to miss them...

How's it going? Sounds like you are super busy! I've been half out of my mind I'm so busy between work and baby Katie! I hate having to be away from the site so much. Anyway, I hope you're well (over-working aside) Can't wait for the RTX2012 tickets to go on sale!!

Yeah, being a Flight Attendant is not something I'm going to pursue after I start having kids :)

It would be pretty cool to see each other a bit in July! I have no idea about being a flight attendent (except what I've heard from you) but it seems like it would be a difficult job. I definitely could not do it with Katie, that's for sure! When I have to leave her for an eight hour shift, I text Roy like, 4 times to make sure everything's ok! And I feel like just flying back and forth and dealing with all the passengers would be exhausting. But I'm glad that things have started to slow down and that you and Nick are doing well (I am responding to both of your comments here.) Anyway, glad to hear that you are doing well. I have to sign off. (Katie is hungry!) Talk to you later, though.

I know!! I am sooo excited about RTX. I'm constantly monitoring things just so I can be ready to hit that buy button :) Anyway, it sounds like you're busy. Things have slowed down for me a bit but I'm still on reserve so it still sucks. Anyway, happy to hear from you anytime :) Maybe we'll see each other in July.

Hey! How's it going? Haven't talked in a bit so I thought I'd drop in. Hope all is well and the wedding "plans" are going well. Really, just doing it was the simplest and best choice that i have ever made! :)

      Hi there!
I saw you post on a forum and saw you were a girl around my age and thought "YAY, a girl around my age!"

Since I'm trying to return to RvB after a long absence, I'm in the process of rebuilding my friend's list and it just has way too much testosterone in it.

Anyways, why do you care? Well, I'm not one to run around randomly friending people, so this is just to let you know that I skimmed a couple of your journals (omg, I could write a book on your journal about going back to school and not knowing what to take. I'm 28, ended my Associates with over 100 hours with classes in just about EVERYTHING they offered...and I STILL have no idea what the hell I'm doing) And yeah...

lol, anyways, I'm going to put you on my watch list, as I do with any new friends or whatever and this is to let you know! You'll probably start getting some random comments from me along the way. It's just how I've always approached friending on this site.

I feel honored that I'm one of your favorite people! Here's something your fiance might get a kick out of. In the past I've been in a program where I worked side by side with the local police department, so one of the "aces" up my sleeve is actually the sheriff himself.
