So, as a lot of people may know, this past weekend was RTX down in Austin, Texas. I’m not even going to lie. The weeks leading up to it were hellish. Cosplays breaking. Sewing machines not working. Family being family. Life being stupid. Though, even after all the chaos, once RTX began, I think I’ve had the best time in my entire life.
TLDR; I met amazing people and life inspirations and I’ll never forget this amazing weekend.
So Friday, as it were, I was a…mercenary(?) version of CT. Was going to do the full armor but unfortunately, part of its broken and I didn’t want to spend $400 this weekend shipping armor there and back. Still, I walked around all day. Met some awesome guys in line for the Game Grumps panel later in the day and also got to take a picture with ProJared and Jirard the Completionist (who are both sweethearts tbh). Overall great day.
Saturday is when this goes from great to best day of my life. Some of you who follow my Snapchat already know this, but I still want to talk about it.
On Saturday, I cosplayed as Danny Sexbang from the Starbomb Player Select album. The morning was spent being pre-judged for the cosplay contest and it was a fun time. Things were breaking a bit, but it held together all day so that’s all I needed. Right after that though was the Game Grumps signing. I was in line for about an hour and a half to two hours. Long wait, but I met some awesome grumps fans and we had a jolly ol’ time. It eventually came to when I was up next for the signing and it was an experience.
Barry was up first. I said hi as did he. Asked him how his con was going and if he could sign my 3DS. He did with a smile. I said thank you and moved down the line. Next was Brian. I said hi and he said hi as well. He signed my 3DS and complimented my costume. Once he was done signing though, he nudged Danny who was next in line. I’m just going to preface this with the fact that I love the Grumps. As creators, as comedians, as educators and, most importantly as people. So the fact that Brian and Barry already said that my costume was great was giving me chills.
When I got to Dan though, oh man. I had this bedazzled Rockband 4 mic with a “D” on the front. Dan asked to use it in a picture and he did which was awesome. He then went on to say how awesome my costume was, even pointing out the belt buckle (which was all hand-placed rhinestones). He also kept going on about the mic and at this point I had said that I could make one for all the grumps because TBH it wasn’t super hard and I have plenty of rhinestones left. So, of course, I asked Dan if he wanted to keep it. He stopped a second, saying he didn’t have to, but myself and the girl behind me (who was NSP Dan by the way and super sweet!) insisted he did. And so he did, huge smile on his face, him saying thank you and everything and, which really made my day, that he would use it in a video. I’m not going to lie. I was probably going to cry but I’m a big girl and pushed on.
Next came Arin who, while I was still on Dan, was also making nice comment about the detailing of my costume, mentioning things that I put on mine that they didn’t have in their live performance ones which I thought was super sweet of him because my god I looked at that Player Select cover for faaaar too long. Still, he signed my 3DS and I said thank you and that, once again, I would make them all mics because fuck it they are cool dudes and super amazing. Ross was after and he looked a little dead. In the Grump panel he had said he had come from Supanova before RTX and he was getting over a cold so I thanked him for the signing and requested that he try to sleep if possible because nobody should push themself to do something if super jet-lagged and sick.
Then, after all of that, I got this picture with them. I said thank you and hope they have a great con, got my phone and left with a huge smile on my face. After that I got some food, made some repairs and made it to the Cosplay Contest (which if anyone got pictures please let me know!!). It was here I made some friends that I’ll never soon forget. To spare the details, I didn’t win, but that wasn’t the point of going. It was there I met an amazing Mettaton NEO who’s information I didn’t get. But, instead. I got to meet two amazing people:@artkento and @countingmuses. We all ended up going to On the Spot together and that show was fucking amazing. Super funny and even though there was one jerk in front of us, it was still a fantastic time. I also met at OTS@outofmxnd and @foreignersxgod who I’ve known for about the entire time I’ve had this blog so that was baller.
Later that night, I got to meet @boushi–adams and they are super sweet. We all ended up going to the rave together as well as with Brian, Jason, and Jonathan. We ended up going to the rave for all of an hour and a half before we went into the lounge area of the Marriott and hung out until about 5 AM making jokes and playing stupid games and chatting and having fun. It was at 5 AM when I walked back with a friend and went to sleep for all of 3 hours before Sunday.
Sunday was a great wrap up to the day. Started off by going to the Free-Play panel and, even though I just only walked in, I got a great seat. The surprise at the end was awesome and I’m going to miss the show dearly. After, I went to the Yettee booth where I got to meet Jirard again and got him to sign my badge. The man is an absolute sweetheart and called me sweet and it was just so nice talking to him.
I was going to wait in line for 3 hours to go to off topic but I said fuck no and went and hung out with friends from last night instead. It was everyone except Maddie, Boushi, and Kiki aka @turnfreebaby, but we still had fun! We went to the Five Nights at Rooster Teeth and had an awesome time. Scary, but awesome. Went back down to the Exhibition hall where I got ProJared to sign my badge and got to say hi to Jirard again. Both those guys are so fucking nice like no joke. Once meeting up with friends again, we tried to get into the off topic set but the line was cut so I said goodbye for now and went to my room where I promptly passed out for about an hour and a half before meeting up with friends again. Once everyone but Kiki, Brian, Boushi, and Jason were there, we went to a sushi place, got a table and started chatting. Boushi and Kiki showed up after a bit and we all ordered. It was here I really got to meet Kiki and she is an absolute gem. A+ person.
We all ordered and Brian and Jason eventually joined and we moved to a bigger table. The sushi was fantastic, but we all had fun jokes and stories and there were some sweet “holy shit I’ve been following you for years and didn’t realize this was you” moments. Once all paid and done and we all got each other’s contact info, Levi and Jason had to go drive home. We said our goodbyes and walked back to Brian and Jon’s room where we got pizza and watched videos and played some Jack Box games.
Eventually though, we had to all say goodbye. I’m going to be honest, I didn’t think this weekend was going to go well. I thought something was going to go wrong and that everything was going to suck. But it didn’t. It went pretty well and I love to say I’ve met some amazing people and I don’t think that my weekend would have been as great without them. I’m going to be posting more/all pictures later from this weekend and making a vlog about this but from the deepest pits of my heart I want to say thank you to everyone who made this weekend amazing and I love everyone. Only 368 more days until 2017 and I can’t wait.
