First off let me say how wonderful of a community this i and how happy I am to be a part of it. Yes for the next few minutes you are about to read my tidbit on how amazing and important the Relay for Life is and how I encourage you all to participate in it in any way possible.
In the early months of 2002, my grandfather was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. A very serious illness which can often be life threatening. He was a phenomenal man who didn't speak any English but we were able to communicate through activities we both loved to do. We played ping pong, watched movies together and took long walks down our street just enjoying each others company. On April 12th, 2002 my grandfather sadly passed away, four days before my 10th birthday. Before that day I would always go to the Relay for Life in my town and have a good time. Now, it has a completely new meaning for me. I realize now how precious our time with our loved ones is and to never let go of the memories we have with those that are lost. If any of you have lost loved ones to cancer or any type of illness/tragedy I'm sure you understand.
The Relay for Life is an amazing experience, filled with good friends, family and a common goal. The goal to give everyone more birthdays.
