While cats are taking to the streets, dogs are going under ground: Moscow Stray Dogs

Cool! I have to hand it to them, that's pretty clever of those dogs.

Actually, he's one of the very few men on this planet that I'm genuinely fearful of disappointing through either word or deed. A lot of what I have today is because of what he taught me.

      Holy wow! That's amazing.

At first I was thinking, "Yeah, right..."

How would you even be able to track it that quickly? The hand/eye coordination alone would have to be off the scale to fly it effectively at those speeds.

You should see the run on bottled water at the local supermarkets when a hurricane approaches Florida.

I saw it for Y2K and in 2005 after hurricane Katrina and another hurricane was headed for Texas. People in my area thought it was gonna flood.

We didn't get a single drop of rain.

With all the cameras on traffic and whatnot, they probably already use those in the more populated areas. Fortunately I live in the boondocks, less surveilance but more loonies!

In about 10 to 20 years the Chav fad will hopefully fade from living memory

I do hope that you are right, but I fear that Chav's are here to stay. They are actually gaining in strength, we are into 3rd generation Chav's now and each generation is progressively more Chavish than the preceding one. They are everywhere. They are taking over, the balance of Chav's against non-Chav's is definately leaning in the Chav favour. They have Chav car's, Chav clothes, Chav food, Chav language - in fact there is a whole Chav culture.

I don't mean to sound prejudiced, but who wouldn't be? Its a living nightmare. smiley7.gif

Yes, those Chav wedding photos just about sum it up. Dreadful isn't it... smiley2.gifsmiley4.gifsmiley0.gif

The wedding is next Saturday - I'll let you know how it goes.

Strangely, it didn't worry me at all. It should have. But it didn't. I have no explanation for that. smiley3.gif

Indeed, those are the best scenes. And, of course, the 27B-6. That scene never fails to make me laugh.

Re: making the '70s' photo look old - good theory, though that would be something of an irony, because I spend a lot of my time restoring old photos - i.e. getting rid of traces of age.. smiley0.gif

Quite a collection of cats and cat toys.

Those cardboard scratchers are great - the one on the far left especially has trouble remembering which items are NOT to be scratched... these really helped!

My grey cat did this very thing the first night I brought him home from the SPCA.

That's SO cool!! He must have felt very comfortable in your place, which is awesome... Most all of ours are either from the shelter or strays! We actually have 5!

Random Comment: I was at WSMR when the space shuttle landed there in the 80's, got to go out to where they were holding it afterwards and see if from a distance... Also the astronauts came to my school to do a presentation... Pretty cool!

Why is it always the case that the models on product packaging don't have a need for the product they're promoting?

Why is it always the case that the models on product packaging don't have a need for the product they're promoting?

Yes, its totally unrealistic. There are a couple of companies like Marks and Spencer and Dove body lotion that are actually using more realistic models and I think that's great. Watching tv (and the advertising media in general) it would appear that the world is made up entirely of young and beautiful people. No wonder that so many young people think that the world is all about them (and don't realise that they will get older).

On the packet though, its the presenters of a programme named 'what not to wear' that are modelling the pants. (They take people who are a mess and give them make-overs). If you look carefully you will see that one does have a saggy tummy. I think its brave of her to have her own saggy tummy on the packet, though it does help to sway sales.

Probably their only redeeming value is that they'll likely keep you warm on a cold winter's night

In theory, yes. But I have a feeling that they will cut off the blood circulation. I think that I may have made a mistake buying them. I will try them on when I feel up to such a task. smiley0.gif

      1. Buy book and review ( check! )
      2. Be confident on first day of class (remember you're there to shape the putty that is the student mind)
      3. Support female student self-confidence
      4. Deflate male student egos
      5. Talk about your cat (Remember, everything you use in your job could potentially be a tax deduction)
      6. Have fun and enjoy yourself; you'll do fine.

I'd never deflate the male egos.... on purpose. But I like the idea of using Mazha as a tax deduction!!!!

Historic is right, the SS Great Britain was the first large iron ship and the first to be driven by a screw propeller. Nice to see a healthy respect for history.

re: Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Bristol (my home town) has a lot to thank this amazing man for. Such as the Clifton Suspension Bridge, the Box tunnel at Bath, the Great Western railway (from Bristol to Paddington), Temple Meads station (he was the architect and also for Paddington Station at the other end of the line) and the SS Great Britain. He was, I think the most amazingly talented person in history and way ahead of his time.

I love photographing his work - the Suspension Bridge won me a competition on here. I'll have to post that particular image in my gallery.

Hence my pre-occupation/interest in him. smiley1.gif
