    • Elite Team Fighter?

      Anastasius

      Bwaaaaaahahaahaha!!!!

I guess my only question is this:

Do I have to be near my elite team fighter teammates in order to maintain my level of elite awesomeness, or can they live in their own parents basements and show when needed? I ask because they keep eating all of my cheetos and drinking my pepsi, it's kinda annoying.

    • Well that was fun

      Anastasius

Stuff I've had to say over the past couple days at work (over the phone crap):

"No sir, just because DVDs and CDs are the same size doesn't mean you can burn DVDs in a CD-RW."

"Yes ma'am, I'm sure your brother in law is a very smart person, but..."

"What did you spill on it? Wine? Damn. Well, I'd say you should tell your laptop to stop being a lush and take it to an AA meeting."

"Yes, static electricity is very, very bad."

"Really, I mean it. Don't do that."

"Well sir, just how badly did the dog chew on it?"

"Ma'am, can I ask you to hold on a minute. Well ya see, theres a big frickin' spider on my computer screen now and I think it's looking at me..."

      ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So before I left from work, I decided I wanted some comfort food. That means it's Chinese Food night at my place. Mmmm...

So I get to the lot near my apartment, pick up the two laptops I had with me and my food, and start walking home. While passing the movie theater I hear this being yelled out to me:

"Hey nigga, gimme some o' yo food!"

I look and see a young (14-15 ish) white male with dreadlocks and clothing seven sizes too large staring at me. He also had a cell phone glued to his head and kept referring to whomever he was speaking to as "his baby mama". In my mind I had a vision of me sticking my beef teriyaki sticks into both of his eyes and laughing. In reality I gave him a side long glance and hoped that his skeleton was going to liquify, but it didn't happen. I went inside without further incident.

Anyway, I guess the point here is that I'm sick and tired of stupid people and stupid crotch fruit.

I hope you all have a good evening.

    • Got to the range today

      Anastasius

Put 20 rounds through my K31. Damn, I forgot how much that think kicked. My shoulder is a tad on the tender side right now. Didn't do so hot either, but then it's been about 9 months since I last went shooting, and over a year since I used the K31 (at least thats if I remember right). Tomorrow I'll take my 10/22 out for a spin.

Coworker left for the last time today. I don't know when they're going to advertise the new position, but I've heard that several current employees are wanting to move up in the world. I know who some of them are, and I'm not very excited at the prospect of working with them. Lets just say I'd spend a fair bit of time teaching them everything they'd need to know.

Went grocery shopping as exciting as that is. I have a steak cooking as we speak. Mmmm...steak.

    • Didn't get to the range today...

      Anastasius

Firstly I got out of work late, so I didn't get home until almost 6:30. Then, I packed up my stuff, only managed to forget a few small things and started out to the range. Got there, the gate was closed. Then I thought "Wait, do I have the combo to the lock?" Guess what? Nope, didn't have it. Crap. Oh well, it was raining off and on here all evening, so I wouldn't have been there long anyway. With any luck, I'll get in there tomorrow (and I'll remember the combo).

Speaking of tomorrow, it's the last day of work for one of my coworkers. He's going back out to Ohio. No, I didn't drive him off, he's leaving of his own accord. Didn't much like one rather major aspect of his job (let me put it this way, for two months each year, one of our 'buildings' leaves and he goes with it).

Anywho, so that means more crap for me to deal with. Yay me. Woot...and stuff.

      www.nraila.org/News/Read/News....aspx?ID=11372

Fairfax, VA -- Today, in a bi-partisan effort, Congressman Travis Childers, Congressmen John Dingell, John Tanner, Mike Ross and Mark Souder, along with 47 of their colleagues, introduced the Second Amendment Enforcement Act (H.R. 6691). This critical legislation overturns D.C.'s recently enacted emergency laws that continue to defy the recent Supreme Court ruling by continuing to restrict District of Columbia residents' right to self-defense. This National Rifle Association-backed bill is needed to enforce the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in District of Columbia v. Heller.

On June 26, the U. S. Supreme Court held in District of Columbia v. Heller that "the District's ban on handgun possession in the home violates the Second Amendment, as does its prohibition against rendering any lawful firearm in the home operable for the purpose of immediate self-defense." The Supreme Court clearly stated that handguns are constitutionally-protected arms because they are commonly used, are typically possessed by law-abiding citizens for lawful purposes, are considered by the American people to be the quintessential self-defense weapon, are the most popular weapon chosen by Americans for self-defense in the home and are the most preferred firearm in the nation to keep and use for protection of home and family.

The Second Amendment Enforcement Act will:

      * Repeal the District's ban on semi-automatic handguns. Semi-automatic pistols have been the most commonly purchased handguns in the United States over the last 20 years, and therefore a ban on those firearms is unconstitutional as decided by Heller;

      * Restore the right of self-defense by repealing the requirement that firearms be disassembled or secured with a trigger lock in the home;

      * Repeal the current D.C. registration system that requires multiple visits to police headquarters; ballistics testing; passing a written test on D.C. gun laws; fingerprinting; and limiting registration to one handgun per 90 days. The current system is unduly burdensome and serves as a vehicle for even more onerous restrictions; and

      * Create a limited exemption to the federal ban on interstate handgun sales by allowing D.C. residents to purchase handguns in Virginia and Maryland. Currently there are no firearms dealers in the District of Columbia, and the federal ban prohibits residents from purchasing handguns outside of the District; therefore, District residents have no means of purchasing handguns.

Frankly, I think the NRA should be suing the shit outta DC for doing what they did (and Shitcago and San Fran and anyone else out there with out and out bans on rifles/shotguns/pistols), not working with congress to put something in writing saying what they can/can't do. It will set boundaries, and within those boundaries DC will continue to hamper the rights of gun owners.

But, this is a victory, and hopefully it will have a domino effect throughout this nation.

    • mmm...mac and cheese

      Anastasius

Just made some macaronis and cheese, only with a few substitutes. Used Rotini instead of macaroni, 2 cans of cheddar cheese soup, 1 cup of milk, and 8 oz of Velveta (per the wifes request) for the cheese sauce, topped with Ritz cracker crumbs and tossed it in the over for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. It'll be interesting to see how it comes out. As back up, I have ham, eggs, onions, and peppers to make western sandwiches.

Tomorrow I head up to the great white north (Millinocket). The wife and I will be showing my dad the sights and spending some time with the mother in law as well. My dad liked the place we had the wedding reception at so much that we will be staying there again. He even booked our room on him. He rocks. We plan on taking him someplace for a good steak dinner. Mmmm...steak.

Anywho, I'm gonna go see if my food has caught fire yet. Talk to yall later.

    • where do these people come from?

      Anastasius

Got an email today from a new student. They were asking about laptops. I gave my spiel about our laptop program and recommended some other vendors if they wanted less for less money. The person emails me back, thanks me for my advice, and proceeds to say this:

"Well, I was really hoping to get a Mac, they run Windows better than a PC does and you get less viruses."

      What. The. Fuck.

Ok folks, lemme spell it out for ya. That little plastic case won't save you from windows based viruses, ok? It make hurt your mac loving brain to hear that, but it's true. The Mac OS is fairly virus free, but windows is a 50 year old, two dollar whore when it comes to viruses, cuz it's got 'em all. So please, stop telling me how a 2.4 ghz macbook will run windows better than my 2.5 ghz Lenovo T61, because it won't. It will be on par, but it won't be better. Oh, and all of that super special 'Mac' hardware? It's all made my Intel, unless you get upgraded graphics, then it's either Nvidia or ATI. Guess whats in my Lenovo? Thats right idjits, the same damn hardware. So please, stop with the 'Macs are bettar for de windoze' crap, because you're fulla shit as a Christmas goose.

Thank you and have a nice day.

The gas is not a big issue with me. I'd rather pay more gas and have a safer car. I'm not gonna buy anything smaller than a Toyota Camry; anything smaller than that is a death trap. And the Camry only gets 25 MPG. The Crown Vic gets 22-24. Since that one is the police version, it will probably hover around 21-22.

Actually, ammoman.com's got a better deal. The Centerfire price doesn't include shipping and hazmat.

Ammoman's got Wolf Military Classic for $199/1000 shipped.

They've got Golden Tiger for $209/1000 shipped.

I generally buy all my bulk ammo from them.... And some of my not so bulk ammo.

AK has been procured. I'm accessorizing at the moment. Picked up the Vector with poly furniture. Added a Tantal side plate and mount. Tossed an old BSA red dot on it for the moment, until I can pick up a decent unit. Added an AK74 muzzle brake instead of the standard slant break.

I get paid next week, and I'm probably going to pick up a Command Arms telescoping M4 stock for it and possibly a PO series scope and mount. That'll pretty much make it as tacticool as I want it.

Then it's just a matter of stockpiling shitloads of 7.62X39.

I knew we were fucked once gas prices started to rise uncontrollably [the Saudi's are producing more oil this month than last month and gas prices have continued to rise despite that. they have no control and they don't want to admit it] and then when I realized there's an inverse relationship with gas prices and the rest of the market I realized we were really fucked.

Yup. I say there should be only a few types of loans:
Student Loans with proof of enrollment in school.
Car loans with a maximum of $25,000 available for loan with pay stub to prove you can afford a $25k car.
Home Loan with proof of a job that can afford the house you're buying pending individual review.
Home repair loan. Shit happens and stuff needs repairs, approved with proof of a job that pays enough for the loan.

End of types of loans. That's all. That's it. No mas. No other loan for other crap you don't need. That's what you have a job for. Need more money? Get a second or better paying job.

The FAL is metric. It's a Rhodesian kit built on a DSA receiver. The next thing on my list is to build the inch kit that is sitting in my basement.

I made the knife out of a file. I probably won't be "finished" with it for a long time, since I'm never home long enough to work on it. At the very least I am going to smooth out the surfaces.

Another reason hydrogen can't be used wide-spread is that it is volatile and has explosive tendencies if my memory serves me right.

E85's good and all, but we'd be using more anyway because E85 has less energy per gallon than gasoline does. And yes, we would starve due to the complete lack of corn in the grocery stores rather than the gas stations. Also, E85 is corrosive to the pipes they use to transport it so they have to be replaced more often than the same pipes used for gasoline. So that's extra costs.

Biodiesel's the way to go but people don't want diesel cars because they want "performance," even though they have more low end torque than regular gasoline engines and therefore better acceleration in the lower gears. And biodiesel can be made out of used kitchen oil.

US politicians have nothing to do with gas prices. The Saudi King however has a good chance of being able to sway the market and I was appalled when I read an article that said he's decided to increase their production amounts by 20,000 barrels per day for July because he feels that if he keeps the prices this high people will begin to find other ways and his kingdom will suffer. However even at this point, he may be too late. Last month the Saudis increased their production by 30,000 barrels per day and there was minimal response from the market.

You sir have hit the nail on the head. I didn't get to go that much into it, but that's one of my main points. If you produce a new fuel, I'm still stuck with my car because I really don't have the money to buy a new car. But the politicians are too out of touch with the rest of the country to see that point. They don't understand that most of the nation is living from paycheck to paycheck. They don't understand that this "preventable" economic depression is already beginning because the rising gas prices have raised the prices of food and most people were already having problems making ends meet and making sure they get enough food. I know the food banks in North Texas have been hurting because there is such a influx of new people coming, they don't have the stores to give the same amount to people that they were and there isn't that many donations anymore because people need the food for themselves. It's been all over the local news here, but most of the politicians don't live here so they don't see it.

We should talk about this later if you want. But I gotta get ready for class.
