      Been a while, hasn't it?

Lately I have been feeling a great deal of compulsions; the compulsion to buid a Death Korps of Krieg army, the compulsion to assemble a Death Korps of Krieg Commissar costume to wear in the army's inaugural battle, the compulsion to create a Plague Doctor costume and the compulsion to learn some more German, and that's only a handful of them.
      Strong theme there, right?

Anyway, point is I have been feeling so ambivalent of late. I am normally considered somewhat ecclectic at the best of times, but as it is standing right now I just plain don't know if what I want will be anything that will staisfy me for any length of time, it is most irritating.

Now, for my obligatory rant about my media irks, I was rummaging through some old boxes last week looking for nothing in particular, when I stumbled upon a VHS case for none other than my favourite silent film, Metropolis, To my dismay the case was empty, and so I vowed to set forth into the black heart of Glasgow to seek out Metropolis on DVD, and while I was at it Blood Bowl for my Xbox. I returned defeated, nowhere had either of them. Now, the lack of Metropolis, I can rightly understand, after all, there's very little demand for silent films now, however Blood Bowl, a game released only last year to be nowhere first hand, and for the second hand versions to be full retail price caught me greatly off guard, so being in a particularly skinflint mood I returned home with no bounty . . . . except Aliens Vs Predator. THE GAME! THE GAME! NOT THE MOVIE! I then shot over to ever reliable Play.com to sate my entertainment desires, I was utterly flabergasted at the pricing, so, over to Amazon, no better, at this point I just gave up all hope of finding either at a decent price until a chance stumble upon Zavvi showed Blood Bowl for a perfectly reasonable £14.95 OUT OF STOCK . Sucks to be me.

      and mash ever.
      I decided in a fit of madness, well, genius, to add in a tablespoon of Cajun seasoning at the last minute, before mashing the tatties;
My tongue is burning, my nose is running, I have hiccups, my ears feel like they're filled with acid and my throat is on fire.
      Totally worth it.

So as if the whole vetting process farce of producers' picks finding their way into finals isn't bad enough, it seems as though someone has been tweaking the votes for the OWN website.
Visiting here shows Zach with a very respectable 3,484,018 votes, not enough alas to compete with rival Jacqueline's 9,360,096 votes.
However, on another page we see in the 'most viewed' sidebar that Jacqueline has a tally of 7,002,678 votes, now it is not implausible to assume that she somehow picked up the difference before that had been updated until we look at Zach's tally of 9,161,042 votes, that's right, it's over Nine Million, a far cry from the 3,484,018 that the contest's final tally would indicate.

      You know what irritates me?
Many things, yes, but in this particular instance, a tale in in order.

For a while now I've had a few MSPoints attatched to my XBox account waiting for one of two games(Magic The Gathering and Toy Soldiers) to be on the deal of the week, yes I am a bit of a skinflint but with good reason. Last week I decided that since I did not see either of the games that I would just go ahead and buy the two Mass Effect 2 DLC packs, Kasumi and Overlord (Kasumi at least is not really worth it). So today I'm happily perusing the interweb and decide to take a gander at next week's DotW, and upon a little scrolling I find that M:tG was half price last week, but not as a part of DotW, but a completely seperate promotion.
      My Reaction.
      Rage.
Seems I will be waiting a couple of months yet before that is likely to come around again. Ah well, fingers crossed for Toy Solders . . .

Also, yesterday I found something new to add to my 'Things I hate about Summer' list; Obese individuals in revealing clothing. Seriously. It's mortifying seeing someone who's probably two and a half times one's own body weight and with a belly that could well be concealing a keg or two wearing shorts that are indeed shorter than one's own undergarments. What's more horrifying; seeing a pair of them together, one of either gender, in equal garb. I am normally a very tollerant person with regards to either obese individuals or underdressed individuals, but the sum of those parts makes me crave a pitchfork and burning torch.

So, with that image, Auf Wiedersehen!

    • Reasons I hate Summer;

      AzmoSama

#1) Birds waking me up at 3 in the morning when I only got to sleep about an hour prior
#2) The light keeping me up at 4 in the morning. Even on overcast days it can be so bright that I have to wear sunglasses to prevent myself squinting all day long.
#3) The bugs. I have nothing against Spiders, Beetles nor Bees (and a few other exceptions), the rest I pretty much loathe.
#4) It's too hot to do any physical and enjoyable activity bar swimming which then comes down to 'LOL rip-off' or 'LOL Algae'
#5) The sun. It burns me too fast. See also #2 and #4

      In short, I hate Summer.

      So, what else is new?

      Nowt.

Though I do have a Summer Sci-Fi Super Session Spree started which is involving masses of Sci-Fi gaming, movies and TV Marathoning.

I completed my no milk month with only three slips ups as I can remember, two of which I was half asleep and just staggered to the fridge for a swig to whet my whistle.

Have I yet mentioned that I rather loathe Summer?

    • One week down.

Well, one week and two days down of the month as of when I'm typing. Or thereabouts.
A rather special month since I am under a rather bizzare chalenge, even for myself. A whole month with absolute minimal consumption of dairy produce and so far so good.

      As to why I adopted this challenge, I read in an article in March that a reduced dairy intake can have a significant positive effect on one's skin condition and upon later discussion of this last month I was challenged to do a no milk May to see if it would do anything for me. Well, no significant changes thusfar, though I have learned a couple of things;

      1) My morning Assam is far more potent without milk
      2) Instant coffee isn't quite as horrible black as I had feared it to be, though common tea is much less satifying.
      3) My usual margerine spread is 29% buttermilk (suffice it to say I've not had many sandwiches since reading that)
      and
      4) I really, really miss grilled cheese sandwiches.

I'll be glad when the month is over and my next personal challenge can begin; Summer Slump Survival!

So, recently under a friend's 'reccomendation' I bought Dragon Age: Origins and even more recently completed it, I was however led to believe that the character of Morrigan would be that of an insuffereable wench that I would in short order hate for her disapproval of my every action.

She was the single character that throught the natural progression of my play was maxed out with approval. Maybe that just says more about how I do things, I dunno.

Great game either way. On my second playthrough with a Mage.

I made a shock discovery yesterday. Now I'm quite a fan of Burn Notice, and have been since it first aired but there had always been something niggling at the back of my mind as I watched; 'Why do I know Sam?' So with that hanging around at the back of my mind for at least a year and not the wit to pay attention to the credits or hit up the IMDB that I decided to watch the movie My Name Is Bruce It wasn't far into the film that my father who too was watching pointed out that Bruce Campbell resembles the actor who plays Sam Axe and it took about a half second after for my brain to process that Bruce Campbell is the actor who plays Sam Axe. I very nearly screamed at the realization and my own foolishness for having failed to recognize him.

Also, I would totally reccomend My Name Is Bruce if you're in search of a rather off-beat b-movie feeling comedy.

And now Conan The Barbarian is on, so I shall be off.

No I don't think a cover system would help in blue shell situations.

    • Ronicus

That wouldn't be useful in a race. Ever.

    • Ronicus

Oh I do remember the old days before the cover system, but it seems the developers are the ones that have forgotten those days lately. Even FPS games are coming out with cover systems now. Just saying, pretty much all recent TPS games have a cover system, this one doesn't, it takes a minute to readjust backwards.

Definitely. I'm so looking forward to this game.

There was a multiplayer beta on Xbox LIVE actually, if its still up you could grab it and have a go.

    • Ronicus

Not only has it got splitscreen, it has 3-player co-op. Not 2. Not 4. 3-player co-op.

Because each level is a mission for a squad of three transformers and you get to choose which of the three you want to play the level as, so in co-op you get three players.

    • Ronicus

You must be at least a little bit excited for Transformers: War for Cybertron.

    • Ronicus

Ok the last Goldeneye wasn't a remake, it was a brand new title that happened to have the same name.

You have to be at least a little excited about MGS:Rising and Dead Space 2....right?

    • Ronicus

How can you not be enthused by anything at E3?

    • Ronicus

Definitely. That game needs to just cease.

    • Ronicus

E3 doesn't suck it just isn't as good as it used to be. It's still doing what it was always meant to do - get all the big games developers into one facility for a few days to tell us about all their new stuff.

7 hours for the show was good yeah, especially since I'm paid by the hour, but when its up and running and LIVE it'll only be 1 hour on the air and probably an hour's work beforehand and a little time after tidying up.

    • Ronicus

Yes I only discovered this game recently (properly noticed I mean) been hoping to get my paws on it sometime.

    • Ronicus

Dead Space is a fantastic game mate. If you really want to know more about the story you should try Dead Space: Extraction on the Wii afterwards. The gameplay for it isn't bad but admittedly less fun than the PS3/360 game.

Would I be right in assuming you've played Conker's Bad Fur Day?

    • Ronicus

YES. YES. That is the worst.

    • Ronicus

Indeed. But man those peace sims anger me something shocking.

    • Ronicus

      You like bots?

Play a round of Perfect Dark with peace sims. Then tell me you like bots.

    • Ronicus

Yeah that too. And let's face it, Ghastly sucked.

    • Ronicus

Honestly I don't think I ever used the ghosts. I used Gengar for a bit because lets face it he was cool, but ultimately not good enough to take up one of your 6 places.

    • Ronicus

Ohhhh her. Yeah I remember how misleading the anime was. The anime suggested that you need a ghost type to beat a psychic type but in the game you'd just get whomped by a single psychic blast if you tried to fight a psychic pokemon with a ghost pokemon.

    • Ronicus

Yeah its weird. It actually makes me feel a bit old.

      ....Sabrina?

    • Ronicus

Well DS:Extraction is about as close to that as you'll get without finding a flash game that serves the same purpose.

Pine can't pull off Shattnerian. He should stick to being alternate universe Kirk that grows up rebellious and morally challenged because he didn't have a father figure to learn from.

    • Ronicus

      Oh you know it.

I saw a little Reach Beta yesterday, it's still not as good as COD so....not fussed. Also my 360 RROD'd and isn't fixed yet so I can hardly get excited.

Ok dude this should swing you round to it. The entire Dead Space storyline and universe is noticeably anti-scientology. And its shooty.

    • Ronicus

ODST is way short man. If it were any shorter it could have been DLC.

That's a good order though, I've heard good things about Butcher Bay. But I can completely vouch for Dead Space, even Dead Space: Extraction on the Wii is an awesome sci-fi game.

    • Ronicus

      Huge bosses intrigue me.

Play Dead Space first. It'll take you about 10 hours so it's shorter than Mass Effect and possibly shorter than Riddick. And it's FREAKING AWESOME.

    • Ronicus

      Never played it....was it good?

Actually it doesn't even matter if I've played it or not because more importantly YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED DEAD SPACE?

......ZOE2 let you play as all the bosses except Zakat.

    • Ronicus

Oh yes. ZOE2 rocks. Anubis was pretty good but I wasn't as fond of his attacks. His melee seemed unfairly slower than Jehuty's in the multiplayer.
