Introducing a new form of karma points, +1 brown noser, for all those little bitches who automatically get on their knees for Burnie whenever RT releases a new video. Get a fucking spine.

Hey, this is the first time I've been on the site since it changed to 1.5. My big question is: Do you still lose karma by innactivity? In other words, do you still lose x% of your karma every night? Anything else new?

    • Free mod points

      Band_Geek17

That's right, free mod points. Since I'm sorta leaving, I'll just give them away to whomever wants them and can convince me to give them to him/her. Just tell me something cool. It's 25 mod points, give or take a few.

    • The End. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Well, I haven't been active for that last... few months. I don't really remember. But I realized that keeping up in these forums was really eating away at my time, and while I'm still in high school and all, I'm pretty active. I don't even play video games much. Oh wait, that's right, I suck at them. Oh well, we all have our strengths. Anyways, I thought to myself, "Eamon, what is it that you're working so hard at in these forums?" And to be quite frank with everyone, the forums just didn't become that attractive to me. I mean between all the quibbling, forum spam, and the whole mod points karma level shit, I just wasn't having the fun I should have. Man, it sounds like I'm breaking up with the forum. Nothing personal, guys. I met some cool people; well as much as you can meet someone through daily journals. Or multiple journals every day in the case of a few (*cough cough* FUGU *cough cough*). I had I think 34 friends, with a new request or two every day. But many of those friends have left without a word, much like how I left the forums without saying much. I was at level 20-something, and now I'm at 9. Oh well. So I'll stick around for the videos, and who knows, if we get a new website and they get rid of the mod system of if everyone's account is reset, I might get back into it, but for now, I think I'm done. As a parting gift, I'll give my last 25 mod points to anyone who can present the best case of why they need those mod points. Well, actually, just tell me something cool. Yeah, that'll work. I'll give them out when I want to, and if I lose a mod point or two because of giving them out to people who have good things to say, don't bitch cause you didn't get all 25 mod points. Anyways, I'm out.

P.S. - If anyone is interested, I'm selling my XBox because I don't need/use it anymore. Here's what I got:

      XBox
      2 controllers
      DVD remote kit
      MC2 Driving Wheel
      Pelican cable connector thingy
      Games:
      Halo
      Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4
      Amped
      Project Gotham Racing
      Morrowind

So, if anyone's interested, send me a message (not a journal reply) and I'll see what I can do. I was thinking about selling the XBox for around $100, the games maybe $15 each. We'll see. I gotta check out the going price, talk to some friends, whatever. Oh, and nothing's broken, it's all in very good shape. Occasionally the XBox says it can't read the DVD but it almost always works on the second try. Later~

P.S.S. - Just to give you guys an idea, since the last time I was on here and active, DiMono's made 44 journal entries and like 18 new forum topics. And Fugu's made 34 journal entries. Fugu, really, I'm dissappointed in you. You aren't going to let a cat take your title, are you?

    • Where'd the music go?

      Band_Geek17

I've noticed that music, especially pop music, revolves around two things: dancing and videos. No longer music quality or musical creativity or even about the music itself. If you want to be a top seller, you almost have to have a music video. On MTV, the top videos are played, not the top songs. As long as it has a good video, the song doesn't even matter. And all the songs have a part of the song for a dance scene. What the fuck? I want to hear some real music! If you actually listen to any of the songs, they almost all suck. That's why I'm sticking to Classic Rock, Jazz, Blues, and "alternative music" like Jack Johnson, Norah Jones, Van Morrison, etc.

It's astonishing how low society has lowered its standards for new music.

Again, pick a food that's most like you, not just your favorite.

      And.... go!

My friends and I had an awesome time skiing this past weekend, but now we're all feeling the effects of it. I think it was a combination of falling on my snowboard and driving for 3 hours in shitty weather, but my neck really hurts. I put my head back to wash it this morning in the shower and nearly screamed. It hurts. I'll have to bug my girlfriend to give me a neck rub sometime soon. Mmm... neck rubs... Anyways, more later, but I'm back, and my karma level is now 15. Motha-trucker.

Yesterday, all the shit hit the fan. And it was a big fan too. Actually, it was all the shit from the past month.

I've been on full-tilt since about December with college applications, essays, SATs, high school, band, Hi-Q, and I'm on the committee for the Principal Search for my high school. Yesterday I spent 14 hours at school. I went from school, to interviews for the candidates to be principal, and literally ran to my band concert. I got home, opened my acceptance letter from Carleton (see prior journal), and then collapsed.

I woke up this morning feeling like shit. I went to jazz band rehersal and my calculus class, then came home at 9 and slept till 3. Yes, I took a 6 hour nap. And it rocked. I felt much better afterwards, except for my throat. My dad (a doctor) looked in my throat and told me to go see the doctor for a Strept screen. Well they stabbed me and gagged me, and I only have a small virus, no strept or flu or anything bad like that. So that's good news. I basically ran myself into the ground and my body decided to go on strike. And also, my karma has been dropping steadily as the alerts keep increasing. I just don't have the time to check them all.... But I will, I promise. Just maybe not this month. :P

Since no one could name where "Greasy Dance of Joy" is from (see previous journal post), I'll up the reward to 5 mod points and say that it's from a cartoon. Good luck!

UPDATE:Congrats to Natalya for guessing correctly (see last journal). It was a quote from meatwad in Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I didn't see it before until you said something here, so I gave you the points there, and Jen, I gave you one cause you guessed correctly, even if it wasn't first.

    • WOO-HOO!

I got accepted to Carleton College!!! YAY!!! *dances the greasy dance of joy* Check it out here! Not to brag, but it is the 5th best private liberal arts college in the nation! Woo-hoo!!!

3 mod points to the first person who can tell me where "greasy dance of joy" is from.

    • Excuse me for a moment...

...while I get something off my shoulders. It's political, so let that be your warning. Before I start I should remind everyone that according to the Politics and Current Events stickies, you shouldn't negative mod someone for a different opinion. That's just retarded.

Anyways, have you heard about how Bush was taking from other presidents' inaugerational speeches? Like how Truman said, "...it must be the policy of the United States to support free peoples who are reisiting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by ourside pressure," and Bush said, "So it is the policy of the United States to seek and support the growth of democratic movements and institutions in every nation and culture, with the ultimate goal of ending tyranny in our world." For those of you who have just joined us, Bush is now the sequel to Theodore Roosevelt's Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine which professed the US as the World-Policing Power.

Let's take a step back now. What is the goal of Bush's administration? To secure the world, right? Specifically, to end terrorism. Why? Security and safety. Does his current policy accomplish this? Consider the following:

      1. We don't know where Osama Bin Laden is. He's the one responsible for 9/11, not Iraq or Sadam!

      2. We just singled ourselves out as the main opponent of terrorism. If you were a terrorist, who would you attack?

      3. Bush's words aren't compliant with his actions. Bush considers Vladimir Putin a soulmate. Bush has met with and given aid to Islam Karimov, the dictator of Uzbekistan. Bush sided with China when Taiwan stood up against it, which blatantly defied what Bush professed: "When you stand for your liberty, we will stand with you." Saudi Arabian Crown Price Adullah, who rules one of the most repressive regimes in the world (according to Freedom House), went to Bush's Crawford Ranch, an honor that not even the leaders of India, France, Turkey, or Indonesia have ever had.

Please note, I'm not saying we should attack any country housing terrorists or fighting for its freedom, but America's ideals and actions are not lining up.

Also, I don't know if you saw it, but Bush said that even though we didn't find WMD, it was right of us to go to Iraq. Wait a minute. This was written by Tatsuya Ishida at www.sinfest.net (which is also an amazing online comic strip):

Mars attacks Earth for having the capacity to build "Weapons of Mars Destruction."

This was paraphrased as best as I could manager, but I think you get the idea. I don't know about you, but I want a president who knows when he made a mistake.

Now it's your turn. Please, not negative modding (postive modding is still good and encouraged though). Please tell me what you think! And if you're from another country, tell me what you think about the US, Bush, and our policies.

All quotes and references are from the January 31, 2005 Newsweek.
