    • MCM London - A Meg Turney Story.

((Its long.. but please, if you have time, give it a read?))

So, I went to MCM London, totally and completely to meet the one and only Meg Turney, but could only afford to go for the one day... now, from previous times, I decided on Saturday only... This becomes important a little later into this story. I also decided on dragging my mam along with me for company (I have High Autism so like to have someone to help me out if I need it).

The first part of this story hits on the night beforehand. Friday night I went to print off my tickets. I had bought 3 photo shoots with others, but not a Meg as they had sold out before I could grab one... I then realise that I had never actually received my ticket attachment email. Panic. Email the ticket office, totally aware that at this moment in time, I am screwed. DM MCM on facebook with a pure help me message and an explanation... 11PM, recieve a reply appologising for the missing email and a resend! HAIL MCM's CUSTOMER FB SUPPORT.

So! I got in at 9 AM, after traveling from Newcastle at 4:45 AM (waking at 3AM on an hours rest) and tag in. Get my band after a little crushing wait, get a book with map; search for RT booth begins. Now, thanks to Craig (RTUKs head man)I knew that it was somewhere near the S4/S5 doors. Find booth, spend lots of moneys on the merch.

Then starts the search for a timetable and Meg. Find photo shoot studio, time everything up, aim to the other end of both halls to meet Meg. Join queue and get hyped. I drew Meg and Gavin a while back and I like to get my drawings signed... Link to drawing...

So I get to the table and place down my book with said drawing, and she (Meg) imediatly picks up the book to tell me how amazing the drawing is and that she loves it... then to confirm if I was wanting her to sign it. I reply with thanks and yes, to sign it for me... and that at somepoint I hoped to get Gavin's auto on there too. She leans over the table at this point to mumble a little and says "Well, maybe be at the booth tomorrow morning. Never know." or something along those lines. I reply that I was not there tomorrow, and she says sorry, then pictures ensue. Link to Signed drawing + Pic with Meg!

This weighed a little on my mind for about half an hour, to the point where I sat and searched to see 1, are tickets still available and 2, can I afford to do another 15 hour day without much sleep at all... Turned out that I could get back to London with a MCM ticket for £170 but I wouldn't arrive until about midday. I decide on attempting to go back to Meg to confirm if this would be any good at all. At no point was I expecting the lovely Amanda (the lady with Meg at the table) to tell me just to go around to the back of the table to chat with Meg. So she comes over to me and we speak. I explain my find and she tells me, no, don't do that, hes only around until about midday so you would miss him and that it was a lot of money (which I appreciate a lot, as I don't have any spare to begin with and it was gonna go credit) BUT, if I could find an envelope, she would take my drawing, get Gavin to sign it, and send it up to me! Asking her if she was certain, I started my hunt for an Envelope, as well as running to catch a photo. (As a side note, I nearly missed all three of my booked photos due to running around for RT/Meg... which was totally my choice haha)

After my photo, I managed to find out from the info booth that there is an office depo type store under stair case at N3/N4... in I go, buy envelopes and decide to draw another of the pictures to give to Meg as thanks for this completely random HUGE favour she was offering me. I then run off to the GIANT RTUK meetup after a stop off for some food and do some wandering as it was Meg's time for photos and break... Find out shes due back to the table at 5PM, after her talk, at the same time as two more of my booked photo shoots. Welp... So I watch her talk, my mam runs off to join queues, and once again I go to Amanda to look a little crazy stalkerish, I'm sure, and explain about the envelope. Megs talk ends, she wanders over and nearly bypasses me to go for a minute interview, but I know I'm between a rock and a hard place, so attempting not to make myself look a huge ass, I ask politely if I can grab her for two seconds, to give her the envelope, I explain that I don't have a stamp (no where had the buggers) but that I could give her some cash if she wants, but Meg declines and tells me it will be fine. I then give her the second drawing to which I receive a hug and a heartfelt thank you for. I know its not huge, but its something? I then have to run for my photo shoots to then not see Meg again and travel home...

I write this to try and show that this woman is bloody amazing. She has went above and beyond for me, a little fan. I know there is little chance of her seeing this, but I kind of which that she would, just to show how damned thankful I am for her actions. The autistic side of me never lets me think that these things will happen to me, so for this to actually appear is amazing.

I now just await a hopeful little envelope with my drawing all signed up.

AS AN UPDATE: some wonderful people have tweeted this to Meg, and she has actually responded to one to say that it's signed and getting sent this week! :D

I can't actually describe how I feel right now. God. I never met him, didn't know him personally, but just as much as any other RoosterTeeth worker, Monty had a big impact on my life. I looked at him for inspiration with my art and in general the way he always seemed to know how to work around things in the simplest of ways.

I'm sure others are feeling this way too.

RIP Monty. May you never be forgotten.
