I recently did a project for my Creative Writing class to make a comic. I decided to use Halo. This is the result.

    • Suggestions for Future Generations

      BattleFrag91 Something

I read something very interesting just now a friend of mine just posted on a forum. A message to future generations of gamers(or people)

Hi there young sir or madam,
My alias is Calling, I've been a pathological or if you prefer, chronic gamer since 3 years old. That means I've played games for just about every waking day for the past 21 years. I've filled up my mind with the great poetry of what will never become quite the same as Shakespearean lore. I've inhaled a questionable quantity of stories that will never reach the future in quite the same way as books and history, despite the fact that it is rendered in three times the detail.

I live in an era in which people would question- and rightly so- just what it is I am.

You may live in an era when people do not question the digital movement so highly. Information may travel differently, or the means and measures may have just been altered slightly. Computers in the future may very well power the impossible process of human memory and cognitive thought. To me, it's not quantifiable.

What I can quantify to you in great detail is the truth of living as I have. To the standard person, health is determined by the level of physical equilibrium and mental interaction inwardly, socially, and responsively.
What I can quantify to you, is a warning, in great detail. I am the worst possible case of what you will find, and the greatest common example for what some will point out as good reason for not becoming addicted to what it is we do.

I happen to have reached the point that I would agree with that assessment.

      _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Today's standard video gamer experiences slight social stigmas from previous generations- but nothing compared to the self-gratification and social peer pressure applied by oneself to continue gaming.
Those who aren't addicted will note the use of walking away every now and then. Those who ride the fence will defend their addiction and stand up against social stigma. Those who are within my realm of hours spent, probably won't even have a stance to remember themselves by if and when they reach 50.

I never played Doom, Counterstrike, Diablo, Pong, Starcraft, Commodore, et cetera, et cetera.
That really doesn't matter, because what I did have available for play consumed my every waking hour; a list a videogames and otherwise interactive titles that I literally lost count of past 12 or 15 consoles.
Every day was a new adventure, and every adventure a day lost.

What I'm driving at for you, is that most gamers won't tell you what you don't want to hear. I am what you will seem like perhaps a decade or less from now. I am the actual social outcast that was created when stepping away for three hours a day seemed like overkill. I'm out of a job, not in good health physically or mentally, and just so happen to be in prime position for many greedy people worldwide such as media companies and internet service providers to prey on. It becomes surprisingly easy for society to turn stigma into rights violations when you don't have an outward reputation to stand upon.

I must not be the only one, because today people everywhere are simply accepting the treatment that comes with the entertainment we enjoy. Rights are forfeited, contracts are drawn, and no one has tangible grasp of the word responsibility. We're a pleasure based society, a true Dionysian empire forged on the mentality of forgetting about whatever ails us: through game, through drink, through talk- we prosper?
Meanwhile people who are most capable of responsibility choose to exchange it for status and the ability to smile, say that none of it is true, and promote themselves on high.

The point there is that I know I'm not the only one drowning out the world in grapevines and fanciful stories. Just about the only people changing the world are the ones knee-deep in the mud of it, having to tackle all of our problems on the way to pulling themselves out of it. I can't honor those people by bowing to Dionysus. I can't remember them by being immature and telling you it's good to follow in my footsteps.

      _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Spending every day gaming just a decade ago was very different than doing the same thing now. In some ways, it was more liberating and free. In some ways, the world is becoming more communal and focusing on how YOU [you] can help power an empire... An empire that, sadly, you [you] don't even realise is being built, and just so happen to unequivocally and irrevocably agree to rescind yourself [you] from.

Doesn't seem like that has much to do with pathological gaming at fist glance, but follow me along for a moment. Most countries- and America very strongly amongst the list- are founded upon the lives, liberties, and happiness that we wish to seek without dictatorship and control by our leaders about what we do.
Videogames are a liberty easily taken for granted, both by the gamer who doesn't take a break, and the company that decides to take advantage. From the idea that a leader should provide encompassing security, to the prospect that free speech, privacy, and right to self-defense should pertain- our video game platforms are daily creating self contained governmental systems that exist in a pure, unending state of anarchy.

To the person who values responsibility, comes the retort of social acceptability.
To the mind that requires structure and foundation, comes disarray and hateful outlash.

The standard in psychology is to compare yourself to the next person with a laundry list of problems and to hand out a passing grade to each person that meets societal norms. The standard for growth and a good foundation in your life is to exceed today's norms- because regardless of videogames, today's norm is completely dysfunctional.

Society grows and matures based on the paths and foundations cut by the previous generation.
For you, the people we should be uplifting, we owe our greatest apologies.

Please, do not follow in our footsteps. At the very least, never follow m

Okay, so one of the things I enjoy doing when I like a song is search Youtube for good covers by various peoples.

Today's song: Grenade by Bruno Mars.

I thought I might list my top 5 favorite covers.

      5. Grenade (Bruno Mars) Cover - Jason Chen
Nice sound. Different. I like how he has his own beat and isn't using the actual song.

      4. Grenade (Cover) - AJ Rafael Cathy Nguyen
A tiny keyboard. A guitar. A beatboxer. And a female vocalist. I like this version because of the ingenuity(and it sounds great).

      3. Grenade Cover - justinrobinett
These guys sound awesome together. The deep voice mixing with the high voice and sounding amazing. Not to mention the background entertainment throughout the video. XD

      2. Bruno Mars - Grenade (cover by Ryan Knorr)
I can't help but enjoy this guy. He has a great voice and a distinct acoustic sound. Amazing.

      1. Grenade - Bruno Mars (Boyce Avenue acoustic cover)
When it comes to covers, Boyce Avenue is at the top of the list and this cover nails it. The only instruments are a violin and the singer's own raw voice. It brings a felling of awe and epicness and sadness all atbthe same time. Absolutely amazing. IF NO OTHER, LISTEN TO THIS ONE.

      Thank you for your time.

      BattleFrag91 Something

Spent ALL DAY Saturday out of the house. From morning to about 4, I was doing various things to do with scouting. Including going door to door selling coupon books and MC`ing my friend's Eagle Court of Honor.

THEN, went to Nashville for my sister's birthday. Ate at the Cheesecake Factory. I wasn't impressed. :/
I stayed the night at my uncle's house. We played BlOps until like, 2am.

Parents picked me up in the morning(they stayed in Nashville, my aunt and uncle live just outside of Nashville), and we went to church in Smyrna, TN to see some family and because we haven't visited up there in a while.

Also, found a picture that sums up my life pretty well:
      3891.jpg

I'd put that and some more stuff in my images except I have to be a sponsor to add more and I don't really want to take down all of those pics. BLARG.

actually, they said it was in the making for two years, and Halo 2 came out in late 2004. Its been in the making for a while I say, but not 2 months after Halo 2. Still, I'm very eager to see it. Halo 2 machinima will definitly go out with a bang because of this.

I agree. Its very obvious that alot of work has been put into this machinima with the latest cutting edge software and hardware. smiley0.gif
