$1150. One thousand one hundred and fifty dollars. I keep seeing the number, but I still can't believe it. That's how much we raised during my Extra Life marathon for Boston Children's Hospital. My original goal was only $500, and I planned my entire stream around the idea that I would barely hit that mark, but we got there after only 5 hours. I am floored by the support people showed throughout the entire 24-hour event. Thinking about it makes me tear up a little with pride. Being able to host an event like this, where the proceeds are going to such an amazing cause that I deeply love, means everything to me.

Here's a look at the streams I'll be doing in the near future, thanks to your donations:

      -Golden Compass achievement completion clean-up
-Hannah Montana: The Movie: The Game 100% achievement run
-A series of streams for Sonic Boom: The Rise of Lyric
-@Jobell and I finishing the BattleBlock Theater single player (there will be blood)

The Grand Prize RT Staff-signed Destiny poster will be raffled off later this week once it gets back to me in the mail. The baby pictures of me promised in a later stretch goal will be posted at some point this week.

I have to give a massive thank you to every single person who donated to my EL marathon. I may have put on the show, but without your generosity, that tremendous amount up at the top of this journal wouldn't exist. I share this success with all of you. Lastly, I owe Jordan Kinman a titanic amount of gratitude for joining me on the stream for the last 10 hour stretch. Without her, the stream may have fallen into the depths of exhaustion, and that total amount could've looked a lot different. She really is one hell of a great friend.

So, same time next year, folks? I'm thinking yes.

    • A Week (or so) in Review

      BenALeonard

This is what I've been up to in the past week and a bit:

-Launched the official BLTTP website and recorded this week's episode with @starexorcist
-Stayed up for 37 hours straight because of RT's Extra Life stream, plus wanting to fix my sleep schedule
-Released my debut EP: Over-Garage Demos (which you should TOTALLY buy)
-Finally got myself a proper capture device for streaming (Elgato Game Capture HD), and tested out said awesome device
-Started up a gaming channel on YouTube (which you should TOTALLY subscribe to) and began working on pilots for two shows
-Recorded another new song and threw it up on SoundCloud
-Got a new puppy in the house (it's my brother's, so I'm not responsible for it. Yeah!)
-And one other thing that I might be able to look back and add to this list somewhere down the line

If one thing's for sure, it's that I know how to keep myself busy

...just kidding! You guys really thought I was going to contribute to that discussion, didn't you? Man, I wish I could've seen the looks on your faces. Bet they were priceless! Before you chase me off with your pitchforks and torches, you can't spell "harassment" without "ass." That's my sage wisdom on the subject.

Anyway, just wanted to let you all know that you're pretty cool, and that something cool I've been working on lately is nearly done. Here's a hot tip: its got notes in it! Many, many notes. And I hope you guys will check it out when it's released. I'm pretty proud of it.

Also, BLTTP returns next week! That's pretty dope, yeah? We might have a lil' somethin'-somethin' to coincide with that, whenever @Connor is done casting an editing spell on it. Hope you guys are pumped for that, too! I know I am. I've missed rambling about stupid stuff for hours on end. Actually, let me rephrase that: I've missed people hearing me ramble about stupid stuff for hours on end. Yeah, that's it.

Well, that's all I've got. Pretty solid journal, I'd say! Hook 'em with the comedy, make 'em stay with the FACTS. Ben out. *drops mic* *picks up mic and places it back in stand because dropping someone else's mic is rude and you could've broken it, dick*

    • Season 12

      BenALeonard

It's been a while since I've written about RT content in my journal, but I have to give some massive kudos to the RvB Season 12 team. I haven't been keeping up week to week, but I just watched Episodes 13-19 in (basically) one sitting, and...God. Damn.

I've said on multiple occasions that Reconstruction is, by far, my favorite season of Red vs. Blue. Besides the multitude of amazing story and character reasons, it was my first season that I got to watch as it was released. Along with the launch of Achievement Hunter, Reconstruction was what got me engrossed in Rooster Teeth and the community. I have its poster on my wall, and I had Burnie sign my original copy of it. What I'm trying to say is I have a special little place in my heart for Season 6, ok?

I told you that so I can tell you this: RvB Season 12 is just as good as Reconstruction. Knowing what you know now, you can see that means a lot coming from me. I don't really have the mental capacity right now to break down every little reason why, but it's just that great. The amount of setup and payoff is so damn satisfying, the character arcs are well done and add a lot to the established dynamics, the villains might be the best the series has ever had WAIT I SAID I WASN'T GOING TO DO THIS AND YET I'VE STARTED DOING IT.

If you haven't kept up with RvB lately, rectify that mistake. After 11 years and 12 seasons, Red vs. Blue remains the greatest thing Rooster Teeth puts out, in my opinion. Considering all of the content they push out these days, that's really saying something, isn't it?

Hey all! I've been really active in terms of releasing music lately, and I wanted to compile everything in one place for those who haven't gotten a chance to check it out yet. I'd really appreciate it if you gave this stuff a listen, and I promise there will be much more to come as I prepare to put out my Over Garage Demos and, eventually, my first album.

      Up In Flames
      We Do Not Sow
      Always Honest
      The Monster

      Covers:
Hooked On a Feeling (Punk Edition) - originally by Blue Swede
Mother Superior - originally by Coheed and Cambria

Let me know what you guys think in the comments, and keep an eye on my SoundCloud and YouTube for more stuff soon!

    • Hiatus

      BenALeonard

This week's BLTTP has been out long enough that people will have had a chance to hear this news on there, but I felt like discussing it a little more. For those who haven't gotten to listen to it yet: After next week's episode, BLTTP will be going on a month-long hiatus of no new episodes. We'll take a little time to celebrate the 2-year anniversary, but once that's done we're on break.

The hiatus was entirely my idea, and I'm glad Connor was cool with it. On one side of things, I've been producing this show on a weekly basis for two years without missing a beat. That's over 100 episodes, plus Spoilercasts. Sometimes we've had to release so late that we'd technically miss a week, but that just meant we had to double-up on episodes the following week to stay on track. I always stressed it to myself that we could never miss an episode for consistency's sake. But, now that the show is decently established, I think we deserve a little self-imposed vacation.

On the other side of things, I have felt like total fucking garbage lately. Not physically, but mentally. A lot of things are starting to weigh on me pretty heavily, and it's definitely affecting my day-to-day mood. To put it bluntly: I'm not happy. The last thing I want to happen is for this to start affecting the show negatively, because frankly I just don't want to do it at the moment and I shouldn't force myself to. Doing a podcast doesn't feel like a priority, and that's because it shouldn't be one right now. Hopefully I can use this time to seclude myself a little bit and get my head right. When the month is up, I want to dive back into things like normal. Fingers crossed that everything goes according to plan.

To the listeners who might genuinely be upset about the hiatus: I apologize, but it's necessary. I hope this journal helps you understand where I'm at right now and why I need this. I have a feeling most of you will be totally OK with it, and that's relieving, to say the least. I'll be taking questions over on my Ask.fm page, if anyone would like to know a little bit more about what's going on.

    • Up In Flames

      BenALeonard

Hey! I recorded a demo for a new song I've been working on called "Up In Flames". I am really really REALLY proud of this one, and I'd greatly appreciate it if you gave it a listen. And if you like it, please spread it around! You can check out the song (and download it) here on Soundcloud.

If people want me to, I'd happily record a video discussing the writing process for the song. The lyrical content's a little dark, so I'm sure some people are probably like, "Yo Ben where the HELL did this come from?" Not to mention coming up with the music was a little unorthodox for me as well.

"Up In Flames" is one of four songs I've been working on recently. Another one of those four got a really stripped-down demo, and I put up a little riff demo for the third. Maybe I should give them the same treatment I gave this song, yeah? Also, four seems like a pretty solid number for something...like a release of some sort? Eh, I don't know. We'll see ;)
