It has once again occurred to me how long it's been since I was on here.

Since I haven't been here to keep up with you, I won't give you an update on me expecting you to read it. It really wouldn't be fair.

So instead, what's up with yous guys?

    • Why are we here?

      BloodySparow

So I was watching the news...

In Afghanistan, the Marines were pulling out of Korengal Valley.

Much too difficult to penetrate with out getting slaughtered, we lost about 40 Marines and many many more casualties.
Truly a sad day, and I'm not trying to cheapen that loss.
Although I think we should apply that retreat strategy to all of Afghanistan and the middle east in general

But I couldn't help but notice some similarities.

Korengal Valley is a a stretch of canyon, about 6 miles long, and half a mile to a mile wide.
      A small box canyon.
In the middle of nowhere Afghanistan.

Right now the hopes are that since we left, the locals will get fed up with the insurgency and tell them to GTFO.

So the only reason they (the taliban) was there, was because we were there.
And the only reason we were there, is because they were there.

And now that we left, they get to have two bases in a box canyon.

      Whoop-dee-fucking-do.

      Truth in RVB-ertising.

      P.S.
If you didn't catch what I was talking about, go watch the first Episode of RvB then come back and lol for me.

Oh, to see newsier looking page

but lately I've just not been on the site very much.

Maybe it's just a phase, maybe lately I've just had more on my plate or my interest has been directed elsewhere...

Or maybe it's just where my life is moving.

      IDK

Just wanted to let everyone know I think you are all awesome, and it's nothing personal.

Also, I recently got that new iphone, so I've lost almost eveyone this site who gave me their number...

if you still wanna keep in contact message me your number, and I'll check in in the next few days

      be good my friends

Okay, I'm trying to figure this out...

I'm asking around to double check...

but do any of you watch Oprah?

I ask, because despite how she keeps coming back up in the news like porn pop-up, I know no one who actually watches her show.
Or in general gives a shit about anything related to her...
Outside of that one South Park episode.

If she's such a big thing... I'd think I'd at least know one person who gave a shit.

      So, yeah...

      I met someone.

She's smart, open-minded, pays attention to the world around her, good to talk to...

Sane. Which is a new thing for me.

And did I mention smoking hot?

She's really cool, a take home to mom kind of girl.

And we seem to be on the same page physically, if you catch my drift.

We'll see how this works out, but I'm very happy and excited about all this, all though I'm trying to stay a little reserved in my optimism.

    • Zombie Defense (Personal Defense)

in Forums > Zombie Defense (Personal Defense) | Follow this topic

      BloodySparow

I think it'd be very intelligent to discuss good and bad ideas for defending against the zombies.

Because we all know most people's first response is "Shotgun, BABY!!!" while it's a foolish answer when you take the time to think about it.
BTW, I don't care that shotguns kick ass in L4D, L4D is a game, a good game, but still just a game geared to entertain, not educate.

However, there are two levels to this, since we are talking about survival, personal defense, and fortification defense.

This Thread is for discussing personal defense.

Please remember that I say defense, I'm not talking about going out looking to kill zombies, that's attacking. I'm talking about survival, if you want to go on the offensive please make a new thread dealing specifically with that as many things change when you go on the attack.

For personal defense, I personally recommend strong thick clothing, gloves and masks that cover you up head to toe protecting you from infection.
At least as best as the weather will allow, don't want to get a heat stroke.
When it comes to weaponry, my choice would be a crowbar as it doubles as a strong blunt object and a extremely useful tool.

And when it comes to firearms, in the name of survival I think most people should not use them as defense against zombies. They need to be properly maintained and you need a good supply of ammo for any measure of effectiveness... but also the noise they make would doubtless attract more zombies, when you're trying to survive this isn't a great thing.

So, for a firearm to be a viable option, the following requirements would have to be filled:
      - It must be well maintained.
      - It must have a silencer attached.
      - The operator must be a damn good shot, as head shots are the only way to completely eliminate the threat.
      - The operator must have a large amount of ammunition at his disposal.

okay, that's my wrap, please share ideas and ask questions as there obviously is more than just one way to do things, and some options will have pros and cons that others won't.

I'll make a Thread about fortification defense in a few days... but right now, food beckons my name to be cooked.

So a man walks into a bar with a giraffe.

They both get pissed and the giraffe passes out and falls over.

The man chugs the rest of his beer and begins to jet when the bartender yells,

"HEY! Don't leave that lyin' there!"

      And the man says,

      "Nah, it isn't a lion. It's a giraffe."

I can't tell you exactly how happy this makes me.

      Army of lovers,

I'm not sure how much talent you have in the the realm of music. When I see that you lipsynch music you supposedly wrote and recorded, I doubt you have much at all.

But you certainly know how to put on a good show in the area of music videos. Maybe since you're from Sweden you can get away with what most would call taboo material.
But since I have youtube I can get away with watching it.

Should I mention you sort of acted out one of my dreams in a very very very vague sort of way?

Love (and I mean that, possible lacks of talent aside, I really do enjoy your stuff)

      And I don't know why I'm typing.

Just for the sake of it I guess.

And thank god that both this Mac and Firefox come with spell check.

Because I've totally already fucked up a few words.

And I wish I could say this bloggy journally thing already had a few points in mind, but it really doesn't.

Thank god for spell check again, dude, that last sentence totally tested my skillz.

As well as me ignoring those last spelling errors.
      .
      .
      .

You know, growing up, I would spend a lot of time with my dad and my sis in Rockport, Texas.
Because my dad would go there a lot as one of his prime real estates was there and he needed to maintain it.
I remember one time though... We went to a dairy queen the night we came in.
I saw the decorations on the walls and assumed it was a local place, as the decorations were very tropical in nature.
And I don't mean tropical like tropical for everyone, I mean tropical for those who came from Texas.
If you were from elsewhere, the stuff you were seeing probably didn't make sense.
But the truth is, that I was none the wiser.
Because I didn't know any better.
And it wasn't even until recently that I learned that Dairy Queen was also a regional sort of thing.
A time before that(the trip to rockport's dair queen) , when I was 6 or 7, my dad took my sis and I to New York to see his sister, my aunt.... When we were flying over the city, looking at all the lights... I somehow assumed that we were still in Texas.
No matter how big the world was, I was still in Texas.

It wasn't a pride thing like what I got going now... I seriously just didn't know any better.
I could have been in China and thought that somehow we were in Texas.

On one hand I laugh at the notion, especially when you know that I was 6 or 7...
But on the other hand I really miss it.
Because in my eyes, no matter where I was, I was home.

Aside from the family reunions, when we would go to Oklahoma to see the family... I think that time when I went to New York at age 6 or 7 was my first time leaving Texas... Or I guess if you include Oklahoma, it was the first time I left the mid-South in general.
And as far as I was concerned I was still in Texas. Never left.
I just thought, "Damn, Texas is big!"

I don't know why, I just wanted to share that.

Well, right about now, I was originally planning to be announcing that tickets for RvB:TX were on sale. Unfortunately, that's not going to be the case. You might have heard that the RT staff has their own event planed for late May. We, the organizers of RvB:TX, don't feel it will be possible to compete with a larger and better organized event, so we're officially canceling our event.

But all is not lost! We're keeping the group page for two reasons:

      1) RvB:TX will now be a hub for all RT fans in and around Texas. We'll keep people up to date on RT related events in and around Texas, from small meet ups to the RoosterTexas event the staff is planning. If you have not already done so, please watch the group to stay up to date on the news.

      2) We're planning a smaller get together in Austin this winter. It won't be as big as our original plans, but it'll still be a chance for fans to get together and have fun.

For more details, please see the journal here.

In the meantime I'd like to add, people say stuff like that all the time. My favorite ones will always be "I'm really weird" Because everyone says it and acts like it special (read, "Yes, you're unique, just like everyone else), and when it comes to music "Oh I listen to everything" which is total bullshit, which I call on everyone by asking them if they listen to the more outlandish stuff I can think of. Unless I'd rather be their friend, and wait till later to do it.

You know what other one is on this list of yours that I hate? When someone describes someone else as "funny."

"Oh, you should totally meet this guy. He's funny, tall, knows a lot about vodka, and he's a piano player."

Then when I meet the guy he probably will be tall, he most assuredly will know a lot about vodka, and he will most likely be a very talented piano player (or at least know a few songs) along with an obious trait or two not used to describe him; but you know what he only might be? Funny! He actually stands a real good shot of being dull as dirt. And I have no problem with people who are dull as dirt. Boring serves a very important purpose on this planet.
Which I wouldn't mind, except the describer word “funny” is used as a default so much so that the speaker barely realizes he's saying it and the listener barely registers it in his conscious. But what about guys like me, who actually are funny? I get described the same way as that boring bag of crackers she just introduced me to!

Friendly Neighborhood RvB:TX Admin here! Just a few updates on the group today:
      1) We officially have 200 members! Sweet! You Guys Rock!

      2) We'd really appreciate it if everyone watches the group and checks the forum every few weeks or so. We post polls and messages on the group and we need YOUR input to make sure that this RvB:TX will be the best yet smiley0.gif . If you already watch the group, thanks a ton! If not, go here and click the watch button. There are also polls concerning likelihood of attendance and optimum ticket price in the group forum.

      3) The event is being tentatively scheduled for next March. Hope to see you there!

      4) We could really use the help of a Web Designer. if you or someone you know could help us get even a bare bones site running, it would be greatly appreciated. However, please note that this will be an act of volunteerism on your part. We'd love to pay you, but we just don't have the money. But isn't being able to say that you designed a site in order to celebrate the greatest Machinima series ever reward enough? If you are still interested, please contact myself, or one of the other group admins.

      5) Keep active in the group. The planning staff is constantly looking for cool ideas for events, and they are the best spot to get yours out there.

That's all folks! Keep your eyes glued to the screen for further updates.

I can see how dying from electrocution would result in a failing grade. If that happens, it means you clearly don't understand the principles of using electronics. Like "If it's got a charge, don't touch it."

Thanks for the advice man. I'd probably go with a large diaphragm condenser (4060 or TLM 170, haven't made up my mind yet) on the cello, but I might try an RE 20 just to see what happens. I don't think I'll put anything else on it, just cause I feel like placing a mic anywhere above the bridge is just gonna catch too much bow noise. Then again, now that I think about it a small diaphragm at the octave might get some interesting harmonics.

Yeah man. Nothing against electric bassists. It's just that in the musical circles I travel in, there's enough upright bassists that I always have to specify that I only play electric, whereas everyone else plays both. And I always felt bad that I never learned upright, seeing as I find it completely awesome.

I'm doubting I'll make it that far. The race is in Katy, just outside of Houston, and the only thing 32 miles from Katy is Sealy.

Austin is 137 miles away and San Antonio 169 miles away. If I'm doubting my ability to go 32 miles on a bike, I don't think I could do another 105.

The Family Interrogator thing has all to do with the Comic Book Movie Family Mafia.
A bunch of regulars in the Comic Book Movie thread made it.
It is a semi exclusive club full of some pretty bad ass people. Much like myself.

      I am the Moon Knight.

Everyone in the family picks a Comic Book Character and a Family Title.

well, Balls 2 That is a side project just for shits and giggles. I'm not sure if anyone at the office has even seen it. I have edited up the first Balls 2 That book and had the draft printed up. Looks okay. Self publishing and all that is pretty easy, just a few details to work out really. I hope to have that all done up later this month. smiley0.gif
