    • Atomic: Windows 64-Bit Release

      BlueYoshi15

I'm pleased to announce that Atomic has been released to the world!

The Windows 64-Bit Version is available for download. The 32-Bit and Mac versions will be available by the end of this week. The download page includes system requirements.

Feedback on the game is welcome and encouraged; we want to expand on what we've released in the future, and your opinions will help us greatly.

      www.indiedb.com/games/atomic/downloads/atomic

Edit: The game is no longer available to download. I learned a lot of things during 2012, as part of my university's major game project. A lot of things didn't go as planned, but I am satisfied that my teammates and I were able to finish the game and publish it online for a short time.

Unlock the mysteries of the Atom world. The power of the elements you collect give rise to opportunities to change your molecular structure. Use this power, and take back control from the corrupted Overlord in an Atomic battle!

Atomic is availble to play! Click here to go to the download page at IndieDB

Both a 32-Bit and 64-Bit Windows version of Atomic is available for download. A Apple Mac version will hopefully be available by the end of this year. The download page includes system requirements and credits.

Feedback on the game is welcome and encouraged; we want to expand on what we've released in the future (at the moment it's only a one-level demo), and your opinions will help us greatly.

Atomic is a 2.5-D Puzzle Platformer. It is a free-to-play game that has been developed by TEAM ATOMIC: a group of students studying a Bachelor of Games and Interactive Entertainment at the Queensland University of Technology. For our final year project we had to develop, market and publish an indie-scale game. Atomic is the result of our work this year.

The player controls Atomus; an unknown atomic element given life by the powerful Uranium Overlord. Using your ability to change molecular structure, you are able to transform into different elements of the periodic table, and use their characteristics to solve environment-based puzzles! If you're a fan of Portal, Braid, Rayman, and other platform games, you might enjoy this.

Gasp! I'm not dead! In fact, for the next couple weeks I'll be very active here.

I've been busy all year at university, working on a big project. As part of a team of 5, we have designed and produced a indie-based videogame for the PC, as part of our final year project. We are polishing the final product, and it will be released on Indie DB and our own custom website, free to play! Team Atomic is proud to present...

We're close to publishing the game on Indie DB and on our own website. For now I can post the link to our team's Facebook Page. Soon the Indie DB page will be up, followed by a trailer, and our game. Bonus material will be posted throughout the next few weeks! Feel free to discuss and ask questions about Atomic on the Facebook/Indie DB page or on the Atomic thread on RoosterTeeth, which will be created very soon.

      --

Songs 15-1 will be within the next couple of days. As for other news...DAMN. I never thought I'd leave the journal untouched for the entire year. I can sum up my year pretty quickly. University has kept me busy, I've made a bunch of friends in Brisbane through the Homestuck fandom/MSPA community, and as usual I'm always watching no anime. Most of my money has to be spent on rent and food, so unfortunately I haven't been to any more concerts this year. However last month I dressed up in cosplay for the first time at the Supanova convention! If I remember I might post pictures here, you might get an image of me for the first time, obfuscated by grey bodypaint, horns and sunglasses.

Today I stopped watching the "What Are You Listening To" thread on RT. While I still love RvB (Season 9 was great, on par with Reconstruction), I've stopped posting entirely on the main forum. I tried becoming active on MyAnimeList recently but that failed too. Right now the best place to hang out and chat with me is here via profile comments, and on the MS Paint Adventures Forum.

I'm now living in a new place, close to one of my Uni campuses. The new year starts on Monday, and it's going to be a very entertaining week, catching up with friends, starting some new game related projects, and the big finish; The Chemical Brothers concert on Friday night.

Also, I want this shirt. SO MUCH.

So hey, I've found something to do on here other than posting on the What Are You Listening To and Homestuck threads.

      91jac4.jpg

The Music Project is a new group on RT dedicated to sharing and finding music, of all kinds. If you want to discover new bands/artists or broaden your taste, this is a pretty awesome place to go. If you like what you see, then spread the word about this new group.

By you, I meant SolitarySoul. And maybe megafire. Don't think anyone else reads or comments on my journal anymore.

Big thanks to Tetrameth for linking this group in his journal.

Top 10 Albums of the year. These are all highly recommended.

Broken Social Scene - Forgiveness Rock Record
      Genre: Indie Rock/Baroque Pop

      Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest
      Genre: Indie Rock

LCD Soundsystem - This is Happening
      Genre: Dance-Punk

Orbs - Asleep Next to Science
      Genre: Progressive Rock/Experimental Rock

Rosetta - A Determinism of Morality
      Genre: Sludge Metal

      Caribou - Swim
      Genre: Electronic

Best 4 albums of the year are below, with small reviews.

Agalloch - Marrow of the Spirit
      Genre: Folk Metal/Black Metal/Doom Metal/Progressive Metal
      220px-Agalloch_Marrow.jpg

      Anathema - We're Here Because We're Here
      Genre: Progressive Rock/Alternative Rock
      o19413utmhh.jpg

The sonic and atmospheric scope Anathema and Agalloch display in their latest albums continue to amaze me. If you own and enjoy one of these albums, you will probably like the other.

Circa Survive - Blue Sky Noise / Appendage EP
      Genre: Rock
      220px-Blueskynoise.jpg

The 3rd time around, Circa Survive has combined their catchy melodies and riffs with some of their earlier experimental flourishes to create the best rock album of the year. Blue Sky Noise does have a more poppy sound, but the songwriting is so damn good that it really shouldn’t matter. The verses have become much livelier, and the lyrics are easier to understand and relate to. Overall there’s more variety and creativity in the music, without sacrificing radio friendliness. It’s the antithesis to my favorite rock record of 2009, Part the Second by maudlin of the Well.

      Recommended Review: Sputnikmusic

The Appendage EP consists of the B-sides that didn’t make it onto the album.

      Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma
      Genre: Glitch-Hop/Electronic/Experimental/Jazz
      220px-WARPCD195Packshot_480.jpg

Album of the year. It was in second place behind Blue Sky Noise for a while, but hearing FlyLo performing Cosmogramma live was simply sublime. It also contains my fav song of the year, Do the Astral Plane.

It's a near-perfect blend of hip hop, electronic and jazz. This album deserves to be remembered as a classic, years down the line. And the scary part is, lots of people (including me) believe that FlyLo will get even better.
