So, how many people have this game?
I have to say, overall i'm pleased. Sure, its another World War II shooter, but the Medal of Honor series have always been good (except for Rising Sun of course). While the Single player missions really don't have a story to them, they are fun, especially once you start upgrading your weapons. For example, you can't loose with a sniper rifle that also launches grenades. You'd think a bayonnet on a shotgun would be redundant, but it is so amazing that you'll soon end up just slashing instead of shooting.
the health is also interesting. its divided into 4 quadrants. your health will regenerate with in a quadrant, but if you loose a full quadrant worth of health, you will need to find a health pack to replace it. for example, if was shot so much that i only had 51% health, i could regenerate only back to 75% health. It works out nicely since you'll never be within a hairs breath of death for 5 minutes, but you won't be able to regenerate all your health (which is good, since now when you injure people, they can't just hide and come back full strength.)
Additionally, when your weapon "levels up", the game goes blurry and in slow motion. During this time you have infinite health and ammo (for like, 10 seconds), and depending on how lucky you are, it will do this in the middle of the action. For example, on the Nimegan Bridge level, there are several germans with Panzerschreks (german equivalent of a bazooka). I had a B.A.R, and i just unloaded my clip at them. I apperently killed one guy, and leveled up, and in slow motion, i was firing all these rounds whiles strafing, as 3 ROCKETS FLEW PAST MY FACE! It was such a kickass moment.
The only annoying thing in the game are the elite Nazi Storm troopers. You'll know when you see them in the game. if you had to fight the master chief while he was carrying a turret, thats what it would be like.
The multiplayer is awesome to. being a veteran of Allied Assault on the PC, i was so happy when i saw they remade some of my favorite old maps, like Remagen. I had played that map so much i knew where everything was, and i was already in the game and having fun right from the start.
Medal of Honor's multiplayer never fails to entertain. the moments you get in are classic, and it is intuitive. true to MoH's way of doing things, there are so many crazy places you can hide and do stuff. Its absolutely fun, and i dare say it might cut into my Halo 3 time. The only dissappointment is that the rifles don't feel nearly as powerful as they used to be. In allied assault, the bolt action rifles were worth it, because they are were a one/two hit kill, and it was easy to shoot them. maybe its because is an xbox and not a PC version, but i found it hard to hit things like i used to, and even at point blank range, rounds seemed to do less damage unless you used the aiming function, which garunteed many one hit kills. I suppose if you are fast enough, you can win. Still, if you knew what you were doing, you could snipe people with larger guns like the BAR and StG 44. lots of fun.
What are your thoughs?
