But, in all seriousness, I promise to be more active here. Life has been hectic, but if I always have the time to post on Facebook, I should have the time to post here.

Anyone interested in a "Song of the day" type deal? (the probably 2 people that still notice if I post something)

      Escape The Fate; Ungrateful
      tumblr_inline_mjv7ixYxcb1qz4rgp.jpg
Favorite Song; One For The Money

When I first gave this album a listen, it didn't do much for me, to be honest. But over time, it grew on me, and the anthems in the albums got me. Escape The Fate is a tough band for me to get into, for some reason. I've never been a big fan, but this album is solid through and through. Same as Fall Out Boy before it, I can't usually go through a listen of this album without getting at least one song stuck in my head.

I do have my complaints; namely that every few songs, the album seems to change tones. It's almost like each band member wrote 3-4 songs, and then they just put them in order on the album. It takes me out of the album, slightly. Another thing that bothers me, and gives me more reason to believe my previous statement, is the fact that some guitar riffs are reused from song to song. The first to songs, for example, have an identical guitar riff at points. This bothers me, to a point.

On the flip side, the anthems of 'One For The Money', 'Live Fast, Die Beautiful', and 'Risk It All', really get me pumped up. 'Picture Perfect' is a pretty nice change of pace, and shows a little complexity that sometimes is lacking on the rest of the record.

Overall, I really do like this album, and it's got some great anthem music to pump me up, but it's very rehashed and doesn't venture much from a single formula.

Fall Out Boy; Save Rock and Roll
      Fall-Out-Boy-Save-Rock-and-Roll-2013-120
Favorite Song; Save Rock and Roll

Never been one to really care for the poppy rock of bands like Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Paramore, etc., but this album is very catchy, and I really enjoy that it's a little more rock than it is pop. I seriously debating placing this higher up the list, but it's one of the few albums on this list that has a song I actually highly dislike (The Mighty Fall, for the record, dammit rap...). And the other knock is how horrendously overplayed the hit track, 'My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark' was... I heard it absolutely everywhere, it was even the title song during the NHL playoffs this past year.

Now, with all the criticism, I would like to say that this is a very good album. 'My Songs..' is really quite worthy of the airplay it garnered, it's a fun, upbeat rock song. And I think that's where this album really worked. All the songs are upbeat, quick, and fun. My personal favorite is probably the softest, but it works, as it's featuring Elton John, who's voice, by the way, is still amazing.

In the end, this album is incredibly catchy, has a lot of good hooks, and is constantly getting stuck in my head (I seriously challenge someone to listen to this album and not get SOMETHING from it stuck on replay in your head), which gave it enough attention to garner a spot in my top 15.

      Tracklist;
      The Phoenix - 4:05
My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark - 3:07
      Alone Together - 3:24

      Dream Theater; Dream Theater
      Dream%20Theater%20-%20Dream%20Theater_en
      Favorite Song; The Enemy Inside

While it was difficult to decide where to place this album... Honorable mentions or on the list? I finally settled on the list, albeit only #13. I can't exactly find anything wrong with this album, or something I dislike about it, all i can say is that I think I'm moving on from my obsession with this band. Overall, this album is really amazing musically, and is widely reviewed as some of Dream Theaters best material in years. I don't disagree, it's very good. I think it's one of DT's more digestible albums, as only one song clocks in at over 8 minutes, but that one song is a complex 22 minute behemoth of a song, and an amazing closing to the album.

Overall, I don't call this a bad album, it's a very good album, I just don't have in on repeat constantly. But it's getting praise all over the world, and making Top 10 lists all over the place. The Enemy Inside is actually nominated for a Grammy, so give it a listen, it's a great song.

      Tracklist;
      False Awakening Suite - 2:42
      The Enemy Inside - 6:18
      The Looking Glass - 4:53
      Enigma Machine - 6:02
      The Bigger Picture - 7:41
      Behind the Veil - 6:53
      Surrender to Reason - 6:35
Along for the Ride - 4:45
      Illumination Theory - 22:17

      Karnivool; Asymmetry
      51b9577cdc49f.jpg

      Favorite Song; Eidolon

By far the most interesting and complex album on the list. The third studio album by the Australian progressive rock band, and the first since 2009. It is not an easy listen, nor should it be. It reminds me a lot of the sound from Tool.

I just recently discovered this album, so I don't have a very in depth review of it, but you should definitely give it a listen if you're into deep progressive rock.

      Tracklist;
      Aum - 2:22
      Nachash - 4:50
      A M War - 5:18
      We Are - 5:56
      The Refusal - 4:55
      Aeons - 7:19
      Asymmetry - 2:36
      Eidolon - 3:45
      Sky Machine - 7:49
      Amusia - :54
      The Last Few - 5:16
      Float - 4:17
      Alpha - 7:57
      Om - 3:52

My favorites are bolded out, and you should really give Eidolon a listen, and watch the music video too.

Let's get right to it... Album #15 on the year is...

      Skorge; Dirty/Clean
      DirtyCleanAlbumCoverFINAL.jpg

The only electronic album to make the list this year (after Deadmau5 and Nero each made Top5 last year), but a pretty good release at that. Hard not to dance to a lot of these songs, but, obviously, as most electronic music is, it's an acquired taste, so if you aren't a fan of electronic music to begin with, you won't like it.

This was another album that I had difficulty deciding whether to include on the list, but I settled on #14 mostly because it has a couple moments I enjoy a lot, and the whole thing is easy to listen to in the background of anything you're doing. I tend to like to play the album while I'm playing xbox, as I do most electronic albums.

It starts with a nice little intro song that has a Charlie Chaplin skit, and slowly descends into an electronic song you would expect. I've always liked electronic music that includes outside sources, sayings, skits, etc, so it was a nice start to the album.

This album also ventures almost everywhere on the electronic spectrum; it touches on dupstep, trance, dance beats, electronic rap, and even scream-step. Given how widely ranged this album is, it was hard not to enjoy something on the album, but it did make it seem like it lost a little focus here and there.

      Tracklist;
      A New World (Intro) - 2:25
      Hax - 3:57
      It's That Dirty - 3:17
      Don't You Think - 3:33
      Excelsior - 3:01
      Save You - 4:10
      You Ain't Heard Nothing Yet - 2:24
      Zombies Didn't Eat My Neighbors - 3:20
      Fridge - 2:49
Galactic President Superstar McAwesomeville - 4:17
      Doomsday: 2012 - 3:01
Hey Bro, What Program Do You Use? - 3:20
      Climax - 3:28
      Waterfall - 5:20
      The Movement - 3:52
Life on The Line - 4:12
      Whip Cream - 3:36
      Damn Son (GoGo) - 2:46
      The Final Act - 3:08

My favorites are bolded out, give em a listen.

I can't speak for Reach. I mean I can recall music in Halo all the way through ODST that was very good (although I'm not a big Halo fan). I can do the same for Gears of War, Mass Effect, and pretty much any blockbuster game that comes out now. Music has become a major element of games. It's not just throw a few tones together to make something catchy. It is more akin to creating a movie soundtrack now. Hell I remember back when I went to Ensemble Studios in high school seeing the room where they produced a lot of the music for that game, and that was impressive. That was over 10 years ago, and I'm sure it's a much larger undertaking now.

I think it's just the fact that our company does work on a lot of government contracts, so someone walking around with a camera taking pictures is frowned upon.

I had a legitimate reason for doing it, but hell, it was getting tiresome explaining it, especially after walking all over the entire building.
