Well, I'm sure everyone that watches me remembers why I'm saying this. (if not, that's when Avenged Sevenfolds new album comes out)
But now, it just got a million times better

I was bored recently (and yes, I realize I have a new story, and no, I'm not dropping it, don't worry, it'll be up by Saturday night) and wanted to use Excel. So I decided that I'd make a sort of bracket of my favorite band of all-time. So I went through my iPod and picked my 32 favorite artists, threw them into Excel, randomized them and went from there.
For any of those interested (Though I don't suspect many to be, as you usually shun all my music tastes); I'll be posting the match-ups and who won each, along with a description as to why they won (which will get longer in more detailed as the rounds continue).
So, let round one commence!
Linkin Park vs Journey
While Journey does have a lot of classic songs, Linkin Park was one of my first obsessions, and still sticks with me to this day, though not as much. Linkin Park wins
Nickelback vs Skillet
Both great bands, but Skillet has an edge in my mind. Skillet wins, barely
Metallica vs Trapt
Metallica blows Trapt out of the water with its seemingly impossible guitar work. Metallica wins, easily
Rage Against the Machine vs Disturbed
Tom Morello is one of the most influential guitarists ever, and that gives them the edge. RATM wins
Atreyu vs Daughtry
Atreyu gets the nod due to stronger recent albums. Atreyu wins
Black Tide vs Sevendust
Black Tide has only released one album, and is already being compared to bands like Iron Maiden, and I can see why, they will have a sparkling career, seeing as they are all under 20. Black Tide wins
Saving Abel vs Switchfoot
Switchfoot has adopted a new style recently, and to be honest, I don't care for it. Saving Abel wins
Angels and Airwaves vs Thousand Foot Krutch
It's tough to eliminate TFK in the first round, but AVA is my relaxation music, and 350+ plays of EVERy SINGLE SONG on the album Love can't be argued with. AVA wins
Bullet for my Valentine vs Three Days Grace
Quite a close call for me, however, I have to go with my first love. BFMV wins
Shinedown vs Aerosmith
Aerosmith got me into rock, however, I don't listen to them much anymore, Shinedown, on the other hand, is one of my new favorite bands. Shinedown wins
Halestorm vs All That Remains
Ugh, another one of those matchups where I don't wanna eliminate either so early. But I have to go with the skill of the guitarist in Halestorm over ATR. Halestorm wins, barely
Simple Plan vs Iron Maiden
My favorite old rock band easily powers by Simple Plan. Iron Maiden wins
Crossfade vs P.O.D.
Well. Honestly, neither of these bands are powerhouses for me, Crossfade has had one album I love, but P.O.D. has had many impressive songs. P.O.D. wins
Rise Against vs Megadeth
Rise Against has the most meaningful lyrics of any band I've ever heard, that puts them past Megadeth. Rise Against wins
Breaking Benjamin vs Seether
Not much to say. Breaking Benjamin wins
Avenged Sevenfold vs Theory of a Deadman
Is there any doubt here? If you know me, there isn't. Avenged Sevenfold wins, by far
That's just round one, stay tuned for the next round!

Well lookie here, what have I got for you guys?! A nice, crisp, new story!
And for those who read UTS, yes, this is the same Zamaz character as that story.
I'm finally back after a long ass hiatus.
Read, comment, and enjoy!
They were under attack.
They had reached destination after 3 days of slipspace travel. The attack had been a imminent consequence, but they hadn’t expected it right after they arrived. Nobody was prepared to fight.
Zamaz, a grunt who had never seen a single bit of action in the war, scrambled awake. Alarms blared throughout the ship, signaling what was plainly obvious from the explosions rocking the ship. Zamaz ran through the wide purple corridors of the Covenant cruiser, dodging his brethren who were also scrambling to their posts.
The cruiser lurched to one side, taking evasive maneuvers to dodge the incoming projectiles that had been hurled their way. At least the pilot can buy us enough time to get to our posts, I hope thought Zamaz, dodging more of his fellow soldiers. In the event of an attack, Zamaz was supposed to report to the nearest armory, where elites would give them the armaments they needed to repel possible boarding parties.
Zamaz arrived at the armory, where elites were already supplying multiple grunts with various weaponry; from the standard Plasma Pistol to the occasional Fuel Rod Cannon and everything in between. Zamaz bumped through the crowd, murmurs of protest arose from those he bumped into, some even shoved back, but Zamaz didn‘t care. He rushed forward and asked for a weapon. An elite looked him over for a second and hurriedly tossed him a Needler and a few plasma grenades, motioning him towards another elite who would tell Zamaz where to go. Zamaz rushed over to that elite, not wanting to waste any time. The elite told him to guard the dropship hanger, with his life if he must; Zamaz was willing and able, so he scampered away.
On the way to the hanger Zamaz realized just how much of a backwater post he had been assigned to, the only way he would have to do anything at all was if the humans somehow broke all of the ships defenses and the Covenant were forced to abandon the cruiser. While Zamaz was annoyed at the decision, it did make sense; this was his first time seeing real combat, he was bound to have a few jitters.
Zamaz arrived at the hanger, and saw a few other grunts and jackals gathered around; the grunts were adjusting their suits and checking over their weapons, while the jackals checked their shields, flicking them on and off. A lone elite stood over them all, it was obvious he was in charge. “Who are you?†he thundered as Zamaz approached.
“My name is Zamaz, I was assigned to defend the dropship hanger by the elites at the armory†he responded quickly.
“Sending us the new guys, I see? Interesting choice.†the elite murmured to himself, “Anyway, make sure your weapon is ready, it will need to be in working condition should we use them.â€Â
Zamaz walked off and sat down near a phantom dropship, taking apart his needler and checking it. It was in working order so he put it back together. All of the sudden, the ship rocked sideways, throwing Zamaz, spare parts bounced off his environmental suit. Alarms sounded in the ship again, but these ones signaled something far worse than the ones before.
These alarms signaled that humans had boarded the ship.
Zamaz had been so preoccupied with his task that he hadn’t noticed the cruiser had stopped taking evasive maneuvers. Now the situation became more dire. Humans were aboard the ship, which didn’t have much of a fighting force to repel them with. Maybe I’ll end up seeing some action after all Zamaz thought, tensing up. He had been trained for many years, ever since he was a child, but nothing could prepare him for an actual attack in the field.
The elite’s comm transmitter started beeping, he answered, listening to the elite on the other end. Zamaz was too far away to hear what was being said, but he could tell by the elite’s body language that it was not good news. The elite clicked off the transmitter. “Everyone, listen up.†he yelled, his voice encompassing the room. “The boarders are going to make it here. This means two things; one, we need to get people to prepare the dropships, and two, we need to defend this spot at all costs. Hopefully by the time the humans get here, they‘ll be thinned out enough that we can, but right now, we need to assume the worst. Be ready for anything, this should be one hell of a fight.â€Â
