Ladies and gentlemen! It has been... well... pretty darn ass long since I've written on here! (Going by my last journal entry, 2 years). I have to say, I'm surprised at how much everything's changed around these parts. I seriously have no idea where to start on my reacclimation to the RT community, lol.

As of recently, I've had little to no connection to anything RT related (podcasts, apparent other new projects, RvB in general), and I feel that that's a real shame. Things seem to have grown for the better, and I feel kind of bad for having not been here when they happened, but so is life.

I'm kind of surprised at myself at the moment, seeing as I never thought I'd be writing one of these "I'm back for a bit and I want to see if there's still people here" kinds of posts. But if there's one thing I've learned from the plethora of those posts is that OBVIOUSLY there's people here (duh), so I'm going to avoid making that dumb insinuation.

As for the bit about being "back for a bit", I think I'll definitely be around more than "a bit". So with that, I now wish you all well and an adue (or a due, or however the heck you spell that) for now.

      Till Next Time!

PS: HA! Still haven't forgotten my old closer! Senility be damned!

    • Small update

      Cabooseman

It's been a month and a half since my last update.

      Holy crap!

I'll make a larger update soon, but for now, just wanted to post about a few things I'm working on on the cosplay side of things.

As it stands, I have 3 costumes in development:

      1. The main one

      The Black Hornet

      1212832-black_hornet_001.jpg

99% of you may not know who this is, but he is the newest villain in Kevin Smith's "Green Hornet" comic. This one is going along pretty well. I had to make a concession about the coat, getting a six button coat rather than an 8 button one, but it seems to work fine. I'm going to start work on the mask soon, and I'm really excited about that. The hornet jewel on his collar is going to be a bit tough though. I'm still looking for a suitable fedora and ascot.

      2. The bane of my existence

      Spider-Man Noir

      Spiderman_Noir-revision03.jpg

This has caused me so much misery. I'm planning to do a mix of the version you see above (the comic version) and the one from the new game Shattered Dimensions:
      noir.jpg
This costume taught me to never assume ANYTHING would be easy. I came into this costume with the mindset that the vest would be relatively easy to find, and that the mask would be the hardest part of the whole thing to make. I was right about at least one thing. The mask would be hard to make. Yet the vest is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to find! The vest seems to be made out of leather, and finding a vest that is in that style that's leather is extremely difficult to find.

The other thing about the costume is the mask. I'm going for the mask that's in the game version, which looks to be half leather, half fabric. The fabric half isn't hard at all to find. Any balaclava could do for the bottom half. However, the leather half of the mask is a pain! The problem is, most leather masks/caps have eye openings that reach to about the forehead, leaving the bridge of the nose exposed. As you can see in the pictures, the bridge of the nose (as well as most of the forehead) is covered with the leather part of the mask. So the problem is finding a mask that has enough mask to cover the forehead and the bridge of the nose. And once again, extremely impossible (or expensive). I found something that was almost perfect to what I needed, a soviet sailor weatherproof helmet (mask), but by the time of this writing, it's been sold out. I thoroughly raged when I saw this.

I'm still iffy about continuing with this one. I'll try in hopes of maybe having a breakthrough, but chances are kinda slim that I'll move forward with this one.

      3. The alternative

      Punisher Noir

      PUNNR01004_colclr.jpg

Although I haven't yet started on this one, it's one I'm planning to do if I decide to not move forward with Spider-Man. It's a simple enough costume. The only thing to work on would be the mask, which is something I plan to do either way.

And then there's one costume that doesn't have any specific time table for completion that I would like to work on whenever I get the chance:

      4. FEAR!

      Yellow Lantern Scarecrow

      bl_scarecrow1.jpg

I couldn't tell you how I got into the mood to work on this costume. For some reason, I just though "I want make the Yellow Lantern Scarecrow", and that's pretty much that.

I'm still undecided as to whether I'm doing the comic version or the figure version:
      cmdstore_2103_426706138.jpg

But chances are, much like Spider-Man, I'll probably do a mix of both.

And that's it. Thanks for reading. I'll have another update (hopefully) soon.

    • Resident Evil: Afterlife

      Cabooseman

So the first trailer for Resident Evil: Afterlife was released yesterday (for your viewing pleasure), and after seeing it, I feel compelled to give my two cents on this particular trailer:

      First off, some facts:

.The song in the trailer is: A Perfect Circle - The Outsider (I'm not sure, but it could be the Apocalypse Remix version).

.Per capita, this trailer has more game references than any other Resident Evil movie trailer (most of the references referencing Resident Evil 5).

      And now, the breakdown:

      Screenshot-1.png
Now, for those of you who don't remember, the last movie ended with everyone trying to head to Alaska, because it was rumored to be the last place humanity was surviving at. Seems to be following the continuity set by the last film. Good so far.

      Screenshot-1-1.png
Ok, this doesn't look like Alaska. Wonder what's going on?

      Screenshot-2.png
Wait, now we're in Hollywood? If you don't remember, aside from Alaska, there was going to be a slight detour in Japan. Alice was seeking vengeance on all of the Umbrella Corp. members, and the only one anyone cared about, that being Wesker, was in Japan. Why Alice is in Hollywood is anyone's guess.

      Screenshot-3.png
New location. Probably Umbrella, probably some random office building, who knows. Also, what's with the two swords? Is Alice Stormshadow now?

      Screenshot-4.png
I'll get to why this is relevant in the next frame.

      Screenshot-5.png
Although I give Avatar a lot of crap, I have to commend James Cameron because he said that when he was making Avatar, he wanted to avoid doing the whole "IT'S COMING RIGHT AT YOU" thing most 3D movies do. Avatar succeeded in this regard, using the 3D in an appropriate manor. Resident Evil says "fuck that shit" and reverts right back to the "IT'S COMING RIGHT AT YOU" thing.
      Obvious use of 3D: 1

      Screenshot-6.png
Wesker with a pair of zombie dogs. Pretty cool. I like the way this part was framed.

      Screenshot-8.png
Proof that Alice can't fly for shit. Obvious use of 3D: 2

      Screenshot-9.png
What's this? Wesker portrayed somewhat accurately? Absurd! Also, you can see a glimpse of Chris Redfield and his partner, not Sheva, in the background.

      Screenshot-10.png
Is this a prelude to an ass-kicking? Obvious use of 3D: 3

      Screenshot-11.png
This particular scene strikes me as perhaps one of the more effective moments of the movie. Ali Larter actually seems afraid of what's coming.

      Screenshot-12.png
Oh shit, The Executioner from Resident Evil 5! And he's running like a jackass.

      Screenshot-13.png
Ok, so now we've gone from zombies, to smart zombies, and now we're at majini? Sure. Why not. This scene strikes a personal note because I've cosplayed a majini, and to see it portrayed in a movie (even though it's CG) helps so much in developing my cosplay.

      Screenshot-14.png
      Obvious use of 3D: 4

      Screenshot-15.png
I have a feeling this is somehow supposed to be a reference to Mortal Kombat.

      Screenshot-16.png
      Obvious use of 3D: 5

    • EPIC THURSDAY!

      Cabooseman

Folks, I can not express how epic today has been!

      First off:

      There's this!

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Trailer

THIS IS MOVIE OF THE YEAR! Edgar Wright has just created magic! I love the books, and I highly recommend them to any and everyone. And from the looks of this trailer, Edgar Wright has created the greatest adaptation of all time!

      And then there's this!

Hydro Thunder Might be coming to XBLA

You read that right! HYDROOOOOOOO THUNDER! might be coming to XBLA. Folks, I can tell you straight up, if this ends up happening, you will never see me on any other multiplayer game ever again. That is, if it even has online multiplayer (which it pretty much has to. I don't see the point of releasing it on XBLA if it doesn't have multiplayer). As it stands, this is only a rumor, but with games like Banjo Kazooie and Perfect Dark being released on XBLA, this does not seem improbable at all.

Friday is going to have a tough time following up today!

    • Megacon 2010

      Cabooseman

Hey folks, it's been a while, or what seems like a while at least. So without further ado: What's up everyone? You know the deal, so lets get started:

So last weekend, Megacon 2010 happened. It was.... an ABSOLUTE BLAST! How so you ask? Well, here's a handy dandy list to explain it all!

      The good:

.Great friends: These are the people who make conventions worth while. It's awesome to hang out with people who I don't get to see for months at a time. Getting to hang out with Ann, Megan, Melissa, Indra, Will and everyone who was there was awesome!

.Meeting new friends: Being able to meet three people who I play with online all the time in person was awesome. And meeting people from this site, BornAssassin in particular, was great!

.Cake: There was an Xbox 360 cake. It was beyond amazing. It was a thing of beauty!

.Ray Park: Got to meet him at the convention. Awesome dude!

.The hotel room: Super nice. Had a really nice kitchen with silverware and everything, although none where used because who the hell knows what could have been done with those things.

.Shenanigans: They where had. When Outkast is the first thing you hear in the morning, you know it's going to be a good day.

      The ehh...:

.Weather: Rainy, Rainy, Windy, Windy. There you have the weather from Thursday through Sunday of the con.

.Illness: Never eat a full rack of ribs ladies and gents. Your stomach will never let you live it down. Especially during a convention. And then there's the con funk. I was going to make a Black Eyed Peas joke here, but no. At the time of writing this up, I'm as sick as a dog. I have a really nasty cold, and I'm semi-conscious because I took some Tylenol cold. In short, I feel like poo, poo, poo.

However, those two things aside, the weekend was insanely fun! Although that is a huge understatement! Crazy fantastic would probably better!

And that's it folks. Thanks for reading.

      Till Next Time

.MsValentine: For dealing with my freak out and for helping me get to 25 and 0!

.Infinity Ward: 7-11-25, the numbers of success!

.The people who where with me on XBL tonight: For also dealing with my nonsensical babbling after getting my nuke!

.and last but not least, My mom and dad: For without whom, I wouldn't be alive to achieve a nuke in MW2!

And with that, I move onward. Nuke # 2, I have you in my sights!

It all makes sense now...I think. This should help quell some of our "shanking" rage, got this off of the CoD wiki.

Though many believe it to be an instant death upon contact it may be possible to survive a stab from the tactical knife, from the stabbing player's perspective they must stab the enemy and then remove the knife to kill them, if the attacking person takes enough damage to kill them while they are going through the stabbing motion, even if they have already stabbed the enemy and are about to remove the knife to complete the action they will die and the defending person will take no damage.

I just talked to Richie about the Universal situation with Marvel Island. He works for the business section of the newspaper so it was his job to call around and get some answers. Pretty much Disney can put Marvel characters in their parks except for east of the Mississippi river, that is Universal's territory. And their contract is indefinite so Marvel Superhero Island is not going anywhere.

So I was doing a little research tonight on voice actors and Nolan North is seriously my new favorite now, you can add to the list the fact that he was Desmond in AC!! I looked up AC2 on IMDB and the list that they have is a little screwy to say the least.

They first of all list Altair as being in the game, but being voiced by a different actor than the first game. Although for some reason his actor from the first game is credited as being in part two....but just no character is listed for him. Hmmmmmmmmm........

I just paid a visit to the Ubisoft web site and this is the description they had up for AC 2. Confirms some of the things we thought and sheds some more info.

Betrayed by the ruling families of Italy, a young man embarks upon an epic quest for vengeance. To eradicate corruption and restore his family’s honor, he will study the secrets of an ancient Codex, written by Altair. To his allies, he will become a force for change - fighting for freedom and justice. To his enemies, he will become a dark knight – dedicated to the destruction of the tyrants abusing the people of Italy. His name is Ezio Auditore di Firenze. He is an Assassin.

Right on for the EPIC QUEST XD
