Well, this one is more of a bummer than any other life update journals I have written before. I wanted to write one before, but life had been so busy that I could never sit down and take time for myself. Well now I have that time, but not in the way I would have wanted. Also, to anyone who has noticed me being unusually quiet the past few days, between the new site and the following news, this is why I have been absent for a while.
I'll be straight to the bitter point: my grandmother passed away today. The past few days have been tragic, watching her last few days and saying my final farewells. I had known that this day would come before, ever since she had been diagnosed with Alzheimer in the mid-2000's, but you're never really prepared for the last few days prior to the day itself. I was at work for part of the day when I received the text, so I've taken the rest of the week off, along with everyone else in the family.
She had worked as a elderly-care nurse herself, so it was good to see her so well-treated by fellow nurses. She was sweet and caring in ways only a grandmother could be, and though she is not biologically my grandmother, she is my grandmother through-and-through. I cannot say whether she may or may not have remembered me in her last days, but I know I will never forget her.
Beyond this bitter fact of life, I have done quite well for myself: I've been working at Toyota for over half a year now, and am just started training on driving Raymond standing forklifts for working the vast majority of the warehouse. The co-workers are great people and I wouldn't have asked for a better job, one I find much easier than working at Costco (the coffee might have helped a bit now).
And through the massive amount of money I make there, I now own a brand new car! A 2015 PriusC, a nifty little hybrid that saves me a tonne on gas and even isn't more costly on insurance than my old Aveo was. There's something special about owning your first-ever car.
Well, that's that, my latest life update. Not a pretty one, but it's... definitely one.
