I thought this community was better than this... You guys were cool years ago, but those days look like they're long gone.

    • Thanks For The Ride, Monty

      Cyber_Kai

So, I haven't been on here for a good, long while. I was shocked when I heard that Monty was in the hospital. Like everyone else, I didn't know much, but I donated what I could to help and prayed. After visiting home and friends over the weekend, I went back to school, but forgot my laptop's power cord, and it powered down on me. I just got it in the mail from Kim (my super-awesome fiancee). I get my computer turned on, and there's the sad news... After watching this week's podcast, I thought I'd share what I thought of Monty.

Back in 2007, I was really into Halo, watching Red vs. Blue as it was released, and working on a haunted trail to help raise funds for the community youth center I hung out at. That was where I first heard of this new video on the internet called Haloid where Master Chief fights Samus Aran from Metroid. At first, I thought that a video of a current generation video game character fighting a character from the 8-bit age might be a bit odd. Meech, a friend of mine, told me it was awesome and I should watch it. Then Nate, another friend of mine, chimed in and said I should watch it all the way to the end if I liked girls.

What the heck? How can that be a stipulation on watching an internet video? Anyways, I watched it, and it was awesome. However, the one thing about it that blew me away about it was the fact that it was made by one man. The creative mash-up of Halo, Metroid, and old-school choreographed dance movies was extremely impressive.

Monty Ohm. That was the first time I heard about him, and definitely not the last.

Fast forward a few years. I'm still watching RvB, and I think Washington has Sarge backed into a corner, and then a WARTHOG RAMS THROUGH THE WALL AND SLAMS INTO WASHINGTON, WHO THEN CLIMBS ONTO THE HOOD TO TRY AND KILL GRIFF, BUT IF THROWN OFF WHEN HE SLAMS THE BRAKES AND SARGE MESSES UP HIS ONE LINER! Man... That episode was so awesome, I made Kim watch it, to which her reaction was "that was cool." Then finding out that Monty was working for Rooster Teeth, and realizing that RvB was just going to keep getting better and better with Monty filled me with excitement.

Monty didn't disappoint, and he surpassed my expectations.

When RWBY was announced, I was super-stoked. I even made Kim watch the Ruby trailer, and got the same "that was cool" reaction. Anyways, that was another web series I was excited to follow, thinking that it would be Dead Fantasy with a storyline. Again, he surpassed my expectations, like he always did.

Monty's creative drive was astounding to say the least. The fact that he created the world of Remnant with a ketchup smear on a napkin (at least that's what I heard) blew my mind, again. His ability to create an entire fictional world's geometry from what is basically a kindergartener's art method was fascinating. His work ethic was also incredible. I sometimes get distracted when I'm working on homework and a good song comes on my MP3 player, but the fact that he would watch movies and television to further his own skills was a marvelous ability of his. After listening to the podcast and hearing about his drive to innovate efficiency, I was blown away entirely. Not only his own efficiency, but the efficiency of others around him was surprising to me. However, what shocked me the most about him, was how he always told people to move forward. Not only because that that's a great mantra, but it parallels what I what I say:

"S*** happens, so flush and move on."

Just keep going and keep learning. Its ok to make mistakes, but just make sure you learn from them. If something doesn't work, learn why is doesn't work, and find a way to make it work.

To me, Monty wasn't just an unbelievably talented and extremely creative artist. He was a philosopher who lived his own mantra. Keep moving forward. Keep learning. Keep raising the bar. Do the best you can.

Monty, as we look back fondly on how you've entertained us, we will also look back on how you've inspired us. We will move forward with you in both our memories and our hearts.

Rest In Peace, Monty. You took us one heck of an awesome ride. smiley1.gif

    • Innocent? WTF!?!?

      Cyber_Kai

Ok, so here are a few cases that prove that this country's "justice system" is beyond messed up...

Case #1: 2 or 3 years ago, Marissa Alexander fired warning shots into a wall to scare her abusive husband away, claiming self-defense and invoking Florida's "stand your ground" law. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Case #2: Last year, George Zimmerman disobeyed police orders, racially profiled a 17-year-old boy, followed him home from a convenient store, shot and killed him, claiming self-defense and invoking Florida's "stand your ground" law. He was acquitted of any wrong doing.

How on Earth could anyone in their sane mind find Zimmerman innocent? Or better yet, How on Earth could SIX PEOPLE in their sane mind find Zimmerman innocent? Something like this should have simply been a simple open close case of stalking and murder...

This country's "justice system" is in DESPERATE need of fixing. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to serve jury duty either, because apparently these six people all suffered from some sort of mental disorder...

Sometime in early January, I set out to make a big, walled city in Minecraft on the XBox360, without the use of Creative Mode. While building the city around college classes, homework, and all the other great college happenings, Xylia has been completed and is nearly completely stocked up (albeit with A LOT of help). It's complete with houses, church, cemetary, shrine, library, potion brewers, supply shed, blacksmith, tavern, bakery, restaurant, farms, butchers, apartments, school, orchard, and pool.

While building the city, I got a great idea to build a game into it... A very violent, brutal game of carnage, murder and destruction... The city walls are over 100 blocks by over 80 blocks (I forget the exact count), and within that area the Tower of Pimps is hidden... In pieces... Some are VERY small pieces... The point of the game is to destroy the city, find the pieces, murder everyone that might have their own pieces, and build it in a designated spot. However, since I'm hiding the Tower of Pimps throughout the city, it does need some testing... SO! That being said... Are there any takers in trying it out? :P

    • Worst Weekend Ever... No Exaggeration...

      Cyber_Kai

Around 6 months ago, my grandpa was diagnosed with 3 different types of cancer at the same time: lung, liver, and colon. The doctors gave him 3 years to live if he got treatment, and 1 if he didn't get any. The last few years of my life have been rather busy, and I never got around to visiting him for 6 or 7 years. I was planning to go visit him sometime this summer, but I got a call from my aunt saying he got super bad, and super fast. He went from walking around the halls of his nursing home and hitting on all of the ladies there on Wednesday evening, to being sent to hospice Friday morning, where they gave him 2 to 7 days left to live.

Saturday morning, I had to get up early and have minor surgery done on both of my big toenails since they were horribly ingrown. I got numbed up and they cut them out, and thankfully I didn't need any stitches this time. After that, my girlfriend and I drove a few hours and go see my grandpa before he passed away. We were less than 10 minutes away when he died... Needless to say, the rest of my weekend was horrible for that simple fact. Sleepless nights, can't concentrate on homework, all around crappy weekend...

This is the worst part though, I feel like a worthless, pathetic, piece of shit human being. I haven't even visited my own grandfather for over 6 years and I didn't try very hard to visit after I found out he had cancer... What kind of fucked up person doesn't visit their own dying relatives?

This could possibly be classified as the worst weekend of my life...

Whelp, I moved back into Pennsylvania, and then had to move into a different house. The house I moved into is my girlfriend's parent's house, and I have successfully taken over the basement. So far, it isn't all that awkward, and working with her dad makes getting rides to work super easy. And cheap, he won't let me chip in for gas. I'm also taking a summer class, so I don't get much down time, but when I do, its video games with my girlfriend. smiley1.gif

about the minigun comment, actually they can each fire 4000(or in some cases, 6000) rounds a minute, so it would be more of 12,000-18,000 rounds using all three of them!!!!!
