    • Armageddon weekend

      DaKillaKing

I had a fatastic weekend at armageddon. Loved every second of it. Am now buggered.

Friday: Had exam. UGH! Then had bus ride to Auckland. Meh.

Saturday: Awesome day. Me and Uncle Peter went together and had a blast. It was fantastic. I took some pics, which will be posted, and bought a book/CD: Immram - Voyage of the Corvus Corone, which is very Steampunk. Also bought a build your own Sonic Screwdiver set. Made a steampunk one, of course. Met loads of other steamers and had some brilliant conversations with them.
Me and pete had a archery competitian and ran this random obstical course. I won both. It was fun.

Sunday: went in alone on sunday, but that was cool. Had maybe 15 people photograph me and the other steamers I was travelling with. Saw the Roosterteeth panel, which was awesome. We saw ep 18 early. Big applause when Andy made an appearance. Same with Delta .
Was interveiwed on camera (don't ask me why) by Brandon and got a pic taken with Joel and Burnie. It was awesome.I also found out I missed MOTAT's Steampunk and Zombies halloween do the night before. I was bummed. But then I also found out about Aether Con 2012 which I'll go to. It's a Steampunk thing.
Went to the Masquerade ball and had a... well... ball. Then we had a mini burning man. As the outside burned away from the man we got to see a metal skeleton. He then fell to his knees. After a moment he slowley stood back up. It was trippy. Turns out he was a skeleton.

Monday: Was kinda slow. Less people, but stuff was cheeper (too bad I'd spent all my money already). Then I watched my cousin rose have band practice. That was cool. I missed my bus home, though.

Tuesday: Went home. Had AiKiDo. Was grading. Did not know this 'till the end. Got my Orange belt. Woot.

      Quote for today:
"Zombie plan? I plan on becomming a zombie. What a great lifestyle! Have you ever seen a stressed zombie?"
Brandon, with a very good point at the RT Panel.

      That is all

    • New Rp, anyone?

      DaKillaKing

A post-apocalyptic type RP with a ruined earth and some limited survivors, higher tech and that kind of thing.
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the year 2012 solar flare activity increased significantly, almost to 300% above the norm. Astronomers began studying this curious solar behavior, intrigued by the inconsistencies that the flares were showing, especially compared to previous flare activity. However they believed it to be harmless.
      They were wrong.
On January 5, 2014a particularity large solar flare stripped away Venus' atmosphere. Scientists were extremely concerned, as the flares becoming more powerful, and the risk to the earth was huge.
Humanity began to prepare for the worst. Great bunkers were built for humans, animals and plants to survive in in the hope that one day the surface might become liveable once more.
Across the next six yeas technology advanced hugely allowing animals to be placed in cryogenic storage. Humans were not placed in cryogenic storage as every able-bodied person was needed to work on further technology to be developed within the bunkers. Work on terraforming and faster than light space travel, in case humans required settlement on a new planet.
The great flare was predicted to hit earth in 2025. It hit five years early.
Millions didn't make it to their bunkers in time, billions more didn't even have bunkers to go to. The death toll was tremendous.
However, contrary to popular belief, some surface life survived, often mutated by the strange and horrendous radiations bought by the solar flare. Humanity survived in small pockets, remaining not mutated due to the radiations short half-life, but these groups were few and far between.
In 2015 the first animal and plant bunkers opened, allowing pure-bred plants and animals out into the world to make it livable once more.
The year is 2083 and human bunkers have been slowly opening for nearly a decade. Most Bunker folk are not equipped to survive in this harsh new world, how will you fare in....

      THE WASTELAND!

      In other news:
I'm planning a Freelancer RP LASO even hopefully for next weekend. If you're a freelancer RPer, then feel free to join, I'll get a thread up soonish.

My top hat arried this morning. I've never been happier! As soon as the courier left I got the kitchen knife and opned the box, trying it on.
      And damn I looked good!
The stage spectacles with loupy look good with it. I look forward to trying on the complete outfit tonight, of which I'll post pics, of course.
The goggles are finished, my cane repaired and my waistcoat dry-cleaned, especially for the event.
I cannot wait 'till I get up to Auckland tonight.
Probly won't be on over the next three days very often, I'll be too busy doing armageddon stuff.

Got a bunch of things I'm gonna do there. Meet other Steampunks, hang with old freinds, meet Vaxercon, got monies to spend. Gonna buy me a sword-cane and see what else I can find, with a definite steampunk focus.

      Quote for today:
"I'm just gonna go in there, step on its neck, and shoot it in the head. Because that's how I roll."
      Church.

      That is all.

Armageddon is here this weekend and I am almost ready. My goggles near completion, and should be done tomorrow, if not this afternoon. My top hat and stage specs with loupy have made it through customs and are on their way here and I'll be buying bus tickets and event tickets tonight.

My goggles have all the leather sewn up onto them and well glued in place. The leather has been sucessfully darkend and aged by boot polish, and I have sewn/glued/tacked one of the staps on and will attach the other tonight. I will also cut and glue the red felt lining in tonight or tommorrow then finish off one last little detail. I'll take pics and post them here and on DA.

      Quote for the day:

I really don't have much people granting scholarships would be willing to give me. My grades are averageish, I'm not athletic, my art is alright but not the best, ect.
And I plan on staying in Wisconsin, possibly Minnesota if I have to.

It's still like you're watching real things like it though. I mean, someone has to be seriously messed up in the head to come up with the idea fo killing cartoon animals over and over again.

    • mah_lazors

      They're still animals though.

When I was ten I thought it was hilarious, now it's absolutely grotesque. I don't know how you get a kick out of seeing animals die in the worst way possible.

By Cartoon violence, I'm talking things like Nintendo goes (except Twilight Princess. That stuff was so dark). But you know, Mario, Epic mickey, Donkey Kong, that kind of cartoon violence.

      In reply to DaKillaKing, #2:

I love Nintendo games. They go for cartoon violence instead of something like Halo and MW. if you can't enjoy a game with no violent violent games, then you shouldn't be a Nintendo fan at all, which means no Zelda or Mario or Samus, or Mickey even.

Yeah, but I'd like to get the cosplay first, and plus, I can't drive yet, so even if I did, I don't really have a way to get there because of my parents weird work schedules.

I'd rather do it in cosplay so I can have the coat to cover up with as I get used to it.

    • mah_lazors

Yes, however, it's harder to get used to wearing a skirt in general than for shoes. I mean, there's a sudden draft and it's easier for pervs to get at you and other such things too.
As I said in my journal, the last time I wore a skirt was third grade and it was a long skirt, not a mini one. So going from a pants and shorts kinda gal to LOL MINISKIRT is kind of a huuuuuge and sudden change.

    • mah_lazors

      Mere technicalities.

    • mah_lazors

When I sit down and put one leg over the other, it's in the way a guy would and not a girl. So many habits that are hard to break but I'll have to in order to do this cosplay.

    • mah_lazors

Skirts are bitches when it comes to sitting though.

I think getting used to the skirt is a bit more important than getting used to the boots. I'm going to go costume --> boots --> wig.
