Sooo...it's been a while...work has kept me offline for a long time, and I doubt that I'll ever re-establish my RvB habit...sadface.

So, I am looking forward to hopefully being established as FULL-TIME at my school. That would be amazing...I'm so close, but their money is tight too. They really want to do this for me.

      BUT WAY MORE IMPORTANTLY

I am getting married! I fell in love with the beautiful, intelligent, funny Tanya Kerns this year and will waste no time. We''ll be married this October!

      So...there's that!

    • A 9/11 reflection: "Decadence"

      Dadgbe

A year ago, I started formulating an idea about the course that our nation took following the tragedy of 9/11. It eventually took the form of this big musical expression which I have just finished, called "Decadence."

      http://www.indabamusic.com/asset/show/1562199

Please understand that this is NOT a message of any kind, political or otherwise. Today is a day of remembrance and unity. This is intended to be a portrait of America, and like all art, I took some license with it. This is not an expression of what I believe or what I think you should believe. I'd like to think that in the vast and complex web of ideas that form our opinions, we should be exposed to as many threads as possible to inform our thoughts and feelings. This is my offering to that web. Please take from it whatever you like. If nothing else, please just share in my latest (and biggest) musical project.

There are lyrics in a comment field below the song on the linked page. The song is also uploaded to youtube, but the audio quality is inferior and there is no video. I will only link it here in case the one above is malfunctioning.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0EwdDOVC8s

Please go and listen, and let me know what you think.

    • Well now

      Dadgbe

We have just made the move to improve our internet connection. I am now cruising along at what many of you would consider slow, but I am just loving. Sprint 3G appears more to have better value than HughesNet, so that is our wireless option for now. I am currently downloading the RT shorts I missed, and am enjoying seeing the site again. I've been in and out for a year, and I hope to re-establish my RT presence/habit. And just in time to enjoy RvB season 9!

As the school year winds down, I have a couple more substituting jobs, and then my summer will start. I have spoken with an old friend who has a 1700 square foot studio that I may use for music...my future? We'll see. I guess I'll try and get a long-term job in education or science for the fall, and just do whatever I can during the summer to pay my bills and furnish a music studio. You don't need to worry about "the best laid plans of mice and men" because these plans aren't very well-laid, and neither am I.

      What?

    • Sub teaching

      Dadgbe

So I've been substitute teaching since January, mostly high school, in nearly every subject. My old high school (a private college prep k-12) was very glad to have me back, and it was interesting being on the other side. After filling in for the drama teacher, she asked me to help with the production of "Godspell" that the high school was doing. I was able to be the music director, playing piano and leading the pit, and helping with sound and stage management. It's been nice (if not regular) work, and pretty rewarding. I'm still looking for a more 9-5 gig, but this has been awfully nice in the meantime.

I could be verbose later. I miss this site.

    • Metric Remix - "Collect Call"

      Dadgbe

I've just posted a remix of a Metric song called "Collect Call" to a contest on the website Indaba Music. I don't usually do as well as I did this time! Most of my songs rank at least 50th out of more than 200. This one, though, is currently at 11th place.

      LISTEN TO IT!

It features an a capella choral entrance, entirely in my voice. It moves and develops, but along the same kind of gentle, emotional musical idea. I think you'll like it.

If you like it, vote for it! I'd appreciate it if you did.

    • Music is online!

      Dadgbe

In a very embarrasing YouTube style, I have put my recorded songs to slideshows of lyrics. Ech. But now you can listen to them if you want! They are posted under the name "redhorseMusic." The first little introduction is here," but there are others. I hope you enjoy them, if you watch them. That's pretty much all I've been doing since my last post.

    • Going well

      Dadgbe

I have been doing all right since graduation - a slow pace of life, limited but engaged in responsibility...it's all right. I haven't landed a steady gig yet, but I did manage to put in a few weeks for an independent contractor who needed a hand, which gave me enough to afford a trip up to see my friends this weekend. The trip ended up lasting to Wednesday morning....I woke up not in a bed. I would say things are going well. I've been recording music and helping around the house, which is good enough for now. My high school music teacher's Masters Thesis is a new music curriculum for my high school, which she says may end up including me! That's the hope for now. Until then, see you later, RT, it was a nice visit.

It looks like my internet may dry up...indefinitely. I will probably have to cut down my activity on the site to just video watching, and then months apart. At least I'm in one of them...

Have fun, RvB. I'll be around.

Also I just graduated with a BS in physics. That is worth mentioning...and the reason I'm gone. So guys! Make sure there's a site for me to come back to in a little while!

Thank you much, but more often than not the wall doesn't look quite like that, since I have one of the two down and in my lap.

Not that that's a bad thing, but still.

I noticed that this image is tagged "erection."

Were you anticipating that someone might search for "erection"?

No, since I know that some tags are blocked, I was just curious whether or not the site would allow "erection".

When I discovered that it did, I just left it there.

Judge Turpin: My ward... and pretty as a rosebud.
Sweeney Todd: Pretty as her mother?
Judge Turpin: [confused] Wha... what was that?
Sweeney Todd: Nothing, sir. Nothing. May we proceed?"
