I am interested to know why many people who are 3rd generation + still call themselves by their great grandparents nationality. I am Australian and I think I have worked out that i am 6th Generation English and Northern Irish. Now I feel absolutly zero affiliation to either of these nations but I come across other people in the same situation as me but consider themselves to be 100% Italian or Croatian for example.
Im interested to hear peoples opinions on patriotism and this issue. Do you support the country that you grew up in and gave you everything that you have today or your heritage?
Post any tips or "big wins" here. Just dont mention the losses and always go by my motto. "Its not a problem as long as you win"
To get the ball rolling In the A-League Pre-Season Cup im going to have $5 on New Zealand to beat Qld paying $4.50. They are a very different side to last season and I think there is some value in them here.
If aliens decided to attack Earth and the human race, would we be too interested in fighting our own petty religious battles or would we band together as a "humans" and fight them off together? Im interested to know what the future holds if this situation was to unfold. Would our insignificant political boundaries and countries matter anymore?
What about once we venture off Earth? Will the land on different planets or whatever we settle on be divided into the same country or racial borders as Earth?
This is an interesting thing to ponder at 12.30am....
Since the Israel and Hezbollah conflict started, the issue of North Korea has almost been forgotten. Last week they were test fireing missiles, some of which had long range capabilities of hitting some parts of the US and Australia. The UN has since blocked trading of missile related technology with North Korea. If thats all the UN can do, then what is the point of even having them as an organisation? "Please guys put down your weapons, come on.... pleaaaaase". Seems pretty useless to me.
China is the darkhorse in this whole situation. The fact that they are North Koreas major ally in supplying food, energy etc to them. They however do not want instability in their region with their economy in such a booming state. This could just be the instability where they step in and approach Pyongyang about their agendas. They sure dont want the refugees that a war would cause to stream across its borders. China however could be thinking differently and side with them, I just dont know which is a worrying factor.
Any thoughts or comments?

Hezbollah are a terrorist organization exactly the same as the Taliban in Afghanistan or Hamas in “Palestineâ€Â. They are radical extremists and I therefore support Israel’s move of a military offensive into Lebanon where they are currently active. Hezbollah do not have the main sovereignty within Lebanon and are basically rebel guerillas.
Rebels come across into Israel, kill Israeli soldiers and capture 2 others. How can you expect Israel to sit back and do nothing? Politics do not work on terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah and I support their military movement to try to weaken the organization.
I feel for the civilians that are caught in the crossfire but I do not think Israel should just stop so no more get injured or killed. Hezbollah and other similar terrorist organizations are known to place their terrorist infrastructure around civilian buildings such as schools, hospitals, residential zones etc. It is the cowardly nature of these organizations.
This conflict has major potential to involve both Iran and Syria who are just as screwed up by terrorist organizations, giving financial backing to Hezbollah. If no agreement is reached soon, I can really see this conflict escalating and a lot more countries getting invoved.
Im interested in hearing everyones opinions on not only Israel and Lebanon but also the Palistinian issue and others in the region.
