So who is around in Austin this weekend?

So I am flying in to Austin tomorrow about lunch time and long story short my plans for the weekend in Austin have blown up. So now I am free until Tuesday with nothing at all to do. So who is around and has some free time before the craziness of RTX starts next week? Anyone have any suggestions as fun things to do in Austin before its overrun with the Con attendees ?

If you have some free time and want to hang out hit me up. I'll be glad to grab a meal or drink with all of you awesome people.

      We are here.....More Notifications

Well here we are and I'm sure everyone is getting blown up with notifications for things they have never seen before or hardly remember. I just want everyone to please remain calm as all the bugs are worked out. You know its not easy to predict how a site will react when all of a sudden every user is going to it to see all the new and how its working. I'm sure @Adam and his team are working as hard as they can to make this transition as smooth as possible so all I can say relax and let them do their jobs....they are obviously very good at it.

      Have a good one.

A Very Proud Moment for Me on RT 10Yrs

I wrote a 10 year journal so many times but was never happy with it, I guess this will have to do. Warning now it's a long but if you make it to the end Thank you very much

Over 10 years ago I signed up for a site that at the time was RedVsBlue.com because I really liked the show and I was a nerd and thought there might some cool people to meet on the forums. I never thought it would become of anything, I just thought it was a cool show and had no idea that it would ever last this long. I could never have predicted how much this company, this site, this community would have impacted my life. I have made friends that I will have for the rest of my life and I have traveled to places I would never think to go otherwise just to hang out with these people.

The first "con/meet up/event' I ever went to (Other than DBP:NYC Shoutout to @Jeskid and to those who know what that is) was RVBTO 2010. It was a graduation gift from my parents since I always wanted to go but never had the money to. I was nervous as hell, I had no idea where I was going, I didn't know anyone IRL at the time so meeting people who stayed with me at the hostel was even an experience. I did however bring a camera with me, which was actually my sisters and she let me borrow it. I figured that an easy way to break the ice and to get to know people was by asking to take their picture and talk to them after. Little did I know how much that camera would shape how I interacted with the community for the better part of the past 5+ years now.

Ever since then I have always had my camera close by when it comes to being around people in this community. No matter where I go be it RTX, RvBTO, TO:Uncon, PAX Prime,East,South, or just travel with RT friends to a foreign country to scuba dive (@Izzi, @Ragingterror) you can bet I will have my camera with me. It is because of that camera and the love I have for capturing the community and the moments we share that I have been able to do so many awesome things with this community and Rooster Teeth itself. I have photographed the past 2 RTX's as a guardian photographer and hopefully again this year *wink* @SailorTweek and have even helped with the filming of the SMG water balloon fight, the gauntlet season 2, and of course the reveal of X-Ray and Vav costumes to the world. I have been able to photograph behind the scenes and panels for RT at the past 4 PAX's and even work the booth at East. I have been able to do all of this because I have built up relationships professional and personal with so many people and it usually starts from them seeing my photos.

That all being said it's rare that I actually get to see feedback on what people really think of my pictures unless I am out at a convention. I see all the likes, favorites, retweets, and views on my site Connor MacRae Media (*cough* plug *cough*) but I never know if its people who really like it or someone just following a link that a popular/famous person posted. Please don't get me wrong I LOVE IT when the RT Staff and other popular people share my work because they like the shots. It makes me so happy because then all the countless hours and hard work that have put in to create these photographs is getting out there and being seen. To those of you that have come up to me over the years and said that you thought one of my shots was good you always made my day more than you will ever know and I thank you for that. I know I will never shoot full time and I am fine now with keeping photography as a hobby but I always had hope that I have left my impact on this place that has been such a huge part of my life.

Over the past few months I feel like I have finally started to make the impact I have been searching for but never knew what it would be. Earlier this year when Rooster Teeth was promoting Let's Play Live they used one photo in particular from RTX as their main twitter/facebook ad and it was a photo I had taken from the stage while the AH crew was playing GTA 5. It was so cool to see one of my pictures as a promoted ad and from Rooster Teeth/Achievement Hunter at that. Then a few days ago when @Burnie was giving a presentation at MIPTV he came to a slide that had to do with the community and as soon as I looked at it I recognized 3 of my shots from RTX this past year. Here was one of the founders of RT talking about one of the oldest community's on the net at a conference in France and my photos (a community members photos) were showing off that community.

      14738628536_c1206cb0f9_n.jpg14574998269_6040d3e3fd_n.jpg

I have always been proud to call myself a Rooster Teeth fan and I love the people of this community and its people more than many of the people I interact with on a daily basis. I am so thankful and proud of the fact that I am a part of this place and that in some small way I will forever be connected to it though my photos of all the events I have already shot and the ones I have yet to do. It's amazing to think that all of this for me started out with something as simple as a camera.

So here's to all the photos that have been taken to help us remember and the ones yet to be shot to capture the amazing times ahead. I for one will always be ready with a camera around my neck and an empty memory card in my pocket so when the moment comes I will be ready to capture the memory and the moment in time.

      PAX East 2015 The Awesomeness

So this is going to be a long one so here is your warning up front. Also my browser crashed as I was about finished so ya this is going to be much faster now.

      PAX East 2015 Photos

So Thursday went rather well I flew JetBlue and I took off on time, arrived early, and my bag showed up at the pickup with no issue at all. Yes, as you would think I dropped to my knees and praised God for allowing there to be one airline that hasn't fucked me over yet. Then basically through a series of events I ended up at the convention center helping Chelsea set up the RT Booth. It was a hell of a lot of fun and it would have made for a great time lapse but this dumb-ass forgot a crucial part of his battery pack in NC and as a result had to have it shipped overnight so I could shoot the con. After we set up the booth we met up with @Lamchopz and @SuburbanFire to have a very nice dinner at the Legal on the waterfront. After a photo of Chelsea with a huge pile of snow we ended up at a nice establishment where drinks were had, stories were told, and the worst DJ I have ever heard played (you have no idea, he was really bad).

      TLDR: Thursday in pictures

      16839469425_0785ee7044.jpg
      16217074344_a178eacb7a.jpg
      16219541013_5b1ae4b664.jpg

Friday rolled around and I offered to help out at the booth, I ended up working the whole weekend but I don't regret it for a second. I was there the whole time except for when the RT panel happened and the amazing @Ashley let me use her camera to shoot it since my camera part had not come in yet. I'm really glad she did because I got some really good stuff, there is too much to post here so I will leave a link to the album below. When we got back to the booth a lot of the crew were signing so it was an all hands on deck craziness scenario ( and it was awesome). After the floor closed I got to meet up with @Megan and @Martinizer for a little bit and talk before running over to the FunHaus meetup and getting a few shots for them and that brought Friday to a close. After an extensive search for pizza with Lammy, Michael, @Schraver, and @Jengaship we just relaxed and enjoyed a "peaceful' evening

      16652231838_409c341feb.jpg

smiley9.gif Warning Feels about loving RT incoming smiley9.gif So being behind the booth was awesome for a lot of reasons one of which answering "who are you?" "do you work for RT?" "I don't know who you are but will you sign this ?" to all of which I just replied politely and told them I was a fan like them who had just been around a long time. Most of all though I loved being back behind the booth because I got to interact with the fans who were just like me and many younger fans (years on the site wise) and I got the opportunity to make their con experience just a little bit better by talking to them while they waited to pay or get stuff signed. This really is the reason I love being a RTX Guardian, especially as a photographer because I get to interact with so many people who have been fans for 1 month to 10+years and being able to shout to talk to the PAX line and quiz them on RT trivia or just BS around it was a lot of fun.

Saturday was a whole anther adventure in itself and I could go in to a lot of detail but that may be for another day, It was awesome, everyone I met was awesome and I was sad I had to leave so early Sunday and not enjoy the rest of the show.

      16652608960_5735ea9f7b.jpg

So Thanks to @Chelsea, @Ashley, @jack, @Gilby, @Jordan, @AdamKovic,@BruceGreene, @JamesWillems, @Caiti for letting me work with you guys for the weekend, it was a hell of a lot of fun and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I am exceptionally proud of having this EXH badge to always remind me of that weekend and how much I love this community/company/friends and being able to stand on that side of the table and help make it better for other fans like me was one of the greatest joys I have had as a part of this community.

      Until next time,

      Monty Oum Tribute

How do you measure a life? I like to believe it is in how you have made other's lives better and touched them in some way. If that is true than Monty Oum is in the category all his own.

I first met Monty back in 2012 and only for a few moments at RTX. I was very fortunate to be able to talk to him a bit more at RTX 2013 & 2014 as I took photos of the RWBY panel backstage. I may have only spoken to him for a few minutes each time but I could tell how passionate he was and learned a little about how is insane work ethic got him to where he was.

Without a doubt my best memory of him will always be this past year at PAX Prime14. After the RT panel I had lunch with all the RT Staff that were at the convention. Being in that relaxed environment and hearing him talk about how he likes game "X" but hates game "Y" because of how the character moves when they are blocking an attack really showed me how deep he really thinks about details. He was someone that I admired greatly and will miss not only for the work he did/could have done but for the way that he could inspire people to go beyond what they thought was the limit and achieve more. Gone too soon but not forgotten.

I made this tribute because this is the only I way I know to honor him and celebrate the life he lived and all those he made an impact on.

      Tribute to Monty Oum

This video is made from my work and the work of many others, I was not able to find the names of all the people who's photos and drawings. This is intended as a tribute and will not be profited on in any way.

      5 Days

That is how long it has been since I had my last day at KCST (my old engineering job of 3 years in the eastern part of NC), Packed up my old apartment and subsequently the past 8 years of my life in Greenville, Moved to Raleigh, and started my new Job. So it has been a crazy 5 days.

Thursday was my last day at KCST after working my way up from a 2nd shift engineer to basically the top Robotics/EE/Controls Engineer in the plant over the course of 3 years. Through all of the hard times and crazy long weekends ( and working all the weekends in general) that place was in some ways a good place to work. I really did love my coworkers who I worked with on a day to day basis and that is what honestly made it hard to leave but I couldn't move up any more or learn anymore in the environment they created. I didn't cry I promise but it was hard to leave that place.

Then on Friday I packed up my whole life in to the back of a U-Haul and after throwing about 4 trash bags of crap I still had much than I needed but what do you expect after 8 years of living in one place. On Saturday after doing some final packing I made the 100 mile journey from Greenville to Raleigh to live at a friends house who has a spare room for me to rent. With the help of a few friends I was able to set up my whole room in a few hours but I still do need a desk and a dresser, living out of a suitcase is only fun when your traveling. Finally Sunday I had to make the hour trip out to the outlet mall to buy some work clothes ( the past 3 years I wore a uniform so I wasn't exactly prepared for working in a real "business" environment). For the record clothes shopping sucks.

I got to my new job today (Monday) and unfortunately there was nothing ready for me so I basically sat there for 7 hours trying to learn how to use an IPhone 5C (yes, I am an Android person who has never used an apple device so its a new interface to learn). I was able to go to some meetings and meet some of my team members but apparently some things happened over the weekend that had to be dealt with today so I wasn't really able to interact with people and learn about what I am exactly doing. This may not be the best update in the world but it is something new nonetheless. I will try to make another journal at the end of the week to give an update but it has been a very emotional/tiring/stressful couple of days so I'm just going to leave it at that for now.

TLDR: I quit my job, I moved to a new city, started a new job, will tell more later.

P.S. Thank you all for your kind encouraging words of support through this whole process, it means more than you know You know who you all are

      -Connor

It's finally time to deliver the photos

I'm in the final stages of getting all of my photos ready for delivery to RT from RTX this year. It has been 3 months of work and over 180 hours of editing and sorting the more than 12,000 photos and the 3 hours of video (Yes, I kept track). I still have to post a bunch but I am about ready to finally pack up some huge zip files and sent them to RT. This is going to be a long evening of work on my side and making sure my website can do all the compressing. This is going to be rough but I will be glad when this is finally done. Don't get me wrong is not that I don't love taking photos for RT because I do, but I took way to many this time and I had way to much work to do after the fact that has put me behind on other work. I learned a lot this year and I hope I get to do it again next year. Next time with a few thousand less photos to work through.
