Well, despite doing this two journals ago, I might as well update with why I love Rooster Teeth. @RTContests
To understand why I love Rooster Teeth, let me go back to high school (2007). I watched an AMV called "AMV Hell 3: The Motion Picture." Some people may know it as one of the longest, funniest AMVs to date. There is a scene with Full Metal Alchemist where the two characters quote the "Gay Robot" skit from season one of RvB.
I quote a lot of media. Like, a LOT. And one day I quoted it, just because it was funny and two friends asked if I watched Red vs Blue. I had NO clue what they were talking about. I decided to go watch a few episodes.... and a week later, I had watched every episode that was released, including the PSAs and other related videos. Within a year, I had watched every Rooster Teeth video, and downloaded the videos back when it was free on the site.
At the time, I was dealing with depression. I was suicidal, and I'm not talking "cut yourself for the attention" suicidal. I told no one I was thinking about killing myself, and only admitted it once I was in therapy. I never would have actually done it, because I didn't want to do that to my mother and my sister, but the thought was there. So, to find anything that made me laugh as hard as RvB did, it was a relief.
Over the years, Rooster Teeth has been my go-to source of enjoyment. When I was depressed (again) two years ago, the only thing that gave me a smile was Michael's -Rage Quit- videos, of all things. Before that, it was the Minecraft Let's Plays. With the release of RWBY, the Shorts, Animated Adventures, etc. I found even more to enjoy, not just RedvsBlue. Even Jeff Williams' music has brought joy to my life, and even helped me get through another bought of depression when I decided to buy a guitar just to learn to play RT music. I failed (STUBBY FINGERS BE DAMNED!), but its still soothing to just strum the RvB theme and the few other songs I've learned.
And they inspire me. I have drawn a few RvB pieces, my main favorite being of C.T.'s face, which is the best face I've drawn to date, and RvB brings out the music video inspiration in me. I have made two videos, and am currently working on mini-scenes with popular music and movie quotes. It gave me something to push through my unemployment last year, and I'm so proud of how the videos came out, especially since I'm an amateur at music videos. My first and second were both RvB, and it makes me feel so happy to see my visions of the music goes so well with RedvsBlue.
So, why do I love Rooster Teeth? The cast and crew? The writing? The videos?
Really, everything. Everything I can think of when it comes to Rooster Teeth is what I love about them. They push the limit. They go above and beyond. I love that they created their own anime. I love that they are expanding. I love that they are making their own MOVIE! I'm glad they are still a bunch of silly people doing silly things. I love the creativity, I love the store, I even loved one of the Nature Town episodes. You remember those? Yeah, that Sloth episode is hilarious.
I love it all. Nothing has touched my life quite like Rooster Teeth. And like Burnie once mentioned in a panel (at RTX?), I'll keep watching if they keep making it.
