      Hello all,

So it's been over 4 months since last I posted. Heh, sorry about that. Concerning my last post, I'm fully into my first semester at Norwich University. Balancing the Corps, sports, and academics is hard. I have found out much to my displeasure. I'm doing well in most of my classes, but Navy Science (which you wouldn't think is hard) and Statistics are just destroying my grades.

Yesterday night was our Regimental Ball, nothing too interesting. Only two people danced with me, but the other one was just so desperate it was a 'just no' situation.

I've passed my Marine Corps PFT test, so I think I will do well on Tuesday when our midterm exam is...except I can barely breathe, hack up a lung when exercising, shinsplints that are ridiculously painful after a half mile...how fun.

So within two weeks, I have leave on Thursday to late Sunday. I'm going to Salem and Danvers Massachusetts. It's going to be during Halloween, so I can't wait to go. Next weekend is the Navy/Marine Ball, and I still have to get my ticket...oops. I'll get it on Tuesday, Friday at the latest.

    • Marathon!

So today I finished my first ever marathon event: the half marathon of...

      13.1miles in 2 hr 7min

So now that I've done that, I'm thinking of my next half marathon. I got a memo for a July 11th 1/2 marathon. Its description included:

"a difficult, wicked on and off trail run with stupid spots. Stupid spots include swamp and river crossings, hills too steep to climb...and can only be a butt slide down. Did we mention poison ivy, thorns, poor marking, bad (no) footing, a waiver that mentions your death 3 times..."

It's at Devils Lake in Wisconsin, the event's called Dances with Dirt (DWD); anyone heard of it besides me?

Speaking of insane running, I got accepted into Norwich University and The Citadel! And I have earned my Associate of Arts degree.

      I have to ask:

WHY THE HELL DO YOU PEOPLE WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO SHOP?!

Now that that's out of my system a bit, onto the real reason for this post. I work at Godiva, a chocolatier, and chocolate is always a good back-up to gifts and make great stocking stuffers. However, people like to assume that we have everything in our stores that they need or that chocolate will stay looking good even in 80 degree temperature. Neither is true, chocolate will bloom (fluctuations in temperature will cause the butter to seperate from the chocolate resulting in a white outer coat. Making the chocolate to loose its shine), and others got to the store earlier, rather than later.

So....not so nice day today. I had to deal with the holiday rush by myself as the other employee called in sick yet again. I started at 0630 and the next person didn't come in until 1300. I was getting dizzy near 1200, but was able to stave it off until 1430 when the manager said take a break now. I was able to leave at 1545, and took over half an hour just to get out of the mall parking lot and another half hour to get home (I live in WI and in the country. Icy and slick roads with steep inclines and declines are quite hazardous for anyones health).

I'm applying to the Citadel and Norwich, probably won't try for an appointment for Annapolis. Wish me luck!

    • Trip to Mexico

So pretty much everybody knows that while in school, leaving for vacation is a pain. Primarily because of all of the make-up work, so it's a headache the week of and before and a few days after. So now I'm working on items that couldn't be done during my week in Mexico.

T'was cold getting to the airport Saturday morning, in summer gear in a 20 (give or take a few degrees) outside and in the transportation to the Milwaukee Airport. Had to wake up at 0300, and I only got roughly 3 hours of sleep because I couldn't sleep.

Thus started the procedure of flying. Three hours to Houston TX, layover and from Houston to Zihuatanjo (or Ziwa for short). Then the trip to Ixtapa, where the Pacifica Resort was.

Monday consisted of sun tanning and going into the ocean. I was able to kayak with my sister and mother. While trying to crest the waves, my kayak was caught in the surge, went perpendicular to the ocean floor and I was then to proceed to tumble in the ocean. Found my hat, my tags stayed on, except my 300 dollar Oakley glasses. The people who were in charge of the kayaks promised to look for my glasses, so I went out. Much to my relief, they were found, and I gave them a hefty tip

Tuesday was a day shopping at the local markets in Ziwa, but bought nothing.

Wednesday was sun tanning, nothing too special.

Thursday my family went snorkling, quite fun. Even though my sister and I had to rescue our mother from the coral twice (nothing life threatening!). Was still quite fun!

Friday was a free gourmet-ish breakfeast followed by the usual get-you-to-spen-money upgrade tour. I ditched out early and spent time in the room with my trusty old gameboy. Friday night was a different story. My family went to this ultra gourmet dinner at the resort, food was fantastic. The bill ended up to $205 dollars, but with the mornign tour came a $200 credit towards our bill.

Saturday was the trip home, got back in one piece so I'm happy. Forwards to my unsavory left-over homework!

Happy Belated Birthday to the Marine Corps. As I was busy all yesterday, I never did get a chance to get on. So Happy Birthday leathernecks!

On a more somber note, today's Veterans Day. As such, a special thanks to those who have served, serving and those that have the intention of serving America.

So I'm at school again, wondering when I'm going to graduate. Which could be this semester or next semester. I've applied to a few out of state schools just because I really want to get out of Wisconsin.

I've quit my old job and have gotten a new one at Godiva. Which has many awesome perks. Such as a 50 percent discount (and considering our chocolate is $44/lb, it's a really great deal).

In other news, I'm out of my dads, which was a nasty place to be in. So life is good.

September 11th and December 7th always makes me so melancholy. I remember those days with grief for the lives lost on that day and those that are because of it. I do not commend nor damn the War or any portion of it on those days. Because those days are for remembering the lost, so the United States of America never forgets.

      I'm FREE again!

So recently I turned 21 in late May. Nothing really special with that, just had dinner with friends. And I didn't drink any alcohol at all, until days later and that was just a social 1/4 glass of red wine. So I didn't do the get-smashed-on-your-21st bit.

I'll cook with alcohol, just not drink it. Clouds my judgment and impairs me, not a good feeling.

So I'm thinking of going to Marquette and joining the NROTC to help pay for college, any suggestions?

    • I got in!

So yesterday, mom received a phone call from a four year college that I'm planning on transferring to stating that I should make an appointment with them to come to campus for a tour or for an conference call. I decided to call them back and found out that I was accepted into the university. I haven't gotten the written confirmation, but talking with the guidance, I found out that I was. So...

I got accepted to go to Marquette University.

I'm really excited. It is a private school so scholarships will be a must, tuition worries me a lot as it's really expensive. I'm hoping to go NROTC to help pay as well as being able to serve my country. I'm looking forward to touring the campus, as I only spent time in a sliver of the campus three years ago.

I should probably know this, but what is the Thesaurus Challenge? Do you write the definitions down in the comment or send it to you? Help please?

Oh... no, it was a thesaurus challenge for myself. I only could think of about three myself and then had to creatively use the thesaurus to figure out the rest.

Hrm... it would be fun to have grammar challenges. Because who doesn't love homework?!?!

Sorry to hear about the whole "living in Wisconsin" thing.

You do realize that I was just kidding about that, right? We FIBs down in Illinois are the historical enemy of the Wisconsiners, I was just playing into that.
