It's ON! My company just finished its contract and I'm headed home. Got some time AND money on my hands, so I'm going to finally get into Halo Armor costume making. I dabbled in a little bit of fabrication over a year ago, but it never got off the ground. First on the drawing board was going to be the Meta! Then I thought I would love to get a buddy and be the "Twins" insurgents from Episode 9 of {Edit} Season 10 - with the mini-guns and painted face-masks. Maybe a little ambitious... but what the hell! smiley13.gif

Holy Cow! Thanks to everyone for the FU wishes! I've been travelling a lot lately and have finally settled into my new home here in Afghanistan. I just logged in and was overwhelmed by the comments. You all rock. Seriously.

I'll be posting new pics and videos in the near future, hopefully. Road trip from Virginia to Washington State after separating from the Navy, some hiking on Mt. Rainier and now teaching the Afghan military in Kandahar. Take care, everybody and keep your powder dry!

Well, gone are the days of 88 degree water in the Pacific. Diving in dry-suits now in the Atlantic. Grumble.

How is everybody doing? I'm so out of touch with the "gang". I'll hit you guys up individually in the near future. If any of you blokes are headed to Africa soon, let's link up for a beer.

Other than trainig and drinking, not much is different on this end. What have I missed? Who's married? Who's dead? What's NEW?

You kittens keep safe and frosty!

      ...I escaped!

Seriously, I'm back and rejuvinated. Took a hiatus for a while and laid low after getting in trouble for some of the pics and blogs on my page. Alleged and unconfirmed OpSec violations I was told. Regardless, I've moved on from my old island of joy - Guam. She will be missed, but being state-side is proving SO much more satisfying.

And speaking of satisfaction. The A-Team. smiley13.gif It was everything I hoped for and more! Being a huge fan during my childhood and collecting 5 seasons on DVD over the years, I was very anxious (both positively and negatively) that the movie would really suck. Boy was I surprised!! It kept the same story line, key characters, and each character was a PERFECT update with just enough retention of the original personalities! I've seen it 4 times this weekend, including the midnight show Friday morning. smiley0.gif

AND... SPOILER ALERT... Dirk Bennedict (TV show Faceman) is one of the Guards in teh Pensacola prison holding the New Faceman and Dwight Schultz (TV Murdock) is a doctor in the German Mental hospital holding the New Murdock. Look for them.

That aside, it's good to be back and in the saddle again. They had me over in Supply for 7 months before I PCS'ed... and it was like putting the fox in the hen-house! You don't give an experienced and senior EOD Technician the keys to the Equipment and Personal Gear castle!! I loaded our teams up with all the Materiel and Personal Issued gear they could ever want. We've been fighting the supply guys for 3 years for good gear and here I was able to purchase and distribute 21st Century equipment for a 21st Century war... Go figure, right?? RIGHT?? So I got a new team and we're diving right into work-ups. AND at 31, I'm the YOUNGEST guy on the team.

I hope you've all been well and keeping your powder dry. I'll be in touch!

No convoy across Jolo is complete without seeing at least ONE Naked Baby.

Not the bare clueless baby who can barely keep her head up, waving with mama's help, mind you.

But the brown, fleshy gremlin that leaps from behind a pile of coconuts wearing only a toothy smile and not a care in the world - waving so frantically his genetalia lends assistance to his "au natural" greeting.

Smooth, Brother. I separated from the Navy in June, did an epic road trip to Seattle from Virginia Beach and now I took a instructor/mentor job in Afghanistan to teach EOD in preparation for the withdraw. What's new with you?

You still holdin' it down? Been wondering what you were up to. We left the Home of the Airborne and headed to Lewis on the Wet Coast so I could head downrange with an advisor team. Should be high adventure early next year.

All is well back at Fort Living Room. Redeployed before Thanksgiving and have been reacquainting with the family. Block leave ends after this weekend and I'm dreading the true beginning of garrison life with this unit. Not much to look forward to for the time being, except a lot of pointless work and good ideas. Hopefully I'll get to have some fun along the way, and I hold out hope that the new battalion commander will be an improvement. I didn't become a company commander to be micromanaged, you know?

Taking it light as always. If you're in the Fayetteville/Raleigh AO at some point when you head back CONUS, holler, because there's booze, stogies, and a bed here if you need it. I leave the pursuit of women to you, but remember, my daughter has a wicked arm-bar and her rear-naked choke isn't too shabby either! smiley8.gif

Let's see..new with me..Well, celebrated the one-year with my girlfriend yesterday. That's a new one. Longest most-successful relationship to date. Hm..Moved back home for the summer. That's always fun. I hate Loss Prevention, my current filler job. Just started up at a new localle though. I live about 35minutes from Great Lakes NB, by the way. If you are ever in the area..You should most definitely stop by. We could blow something up. Or I could throw M-80s in the creek and you can dive in to defuse them. ;D

I swear. Every time I read one of your journals I consider changing my aspiration to EOD. Jeez. I am so envious of you being in the Phils. I still haven't had the opportunity / ability (see: funds ) to go. Second fam and Girlfriend are Pinoy/ay, so.

Any luck tracking down the Phil Marine equivalent to our KaBar? Still don't know what it's called. And since this message is running long, I'll end this 9-Line with a Bravo Zulu.

Oh, and what is your group / detachment's unit ID? I always forget to ask.

      In reply to DemoDiver79, #9:

That's in an RG33L+. It's the school-bus, retrofitted with more armor. The back is spacious, but the turning radius is atrocious and they're bigger targets than the other already humongous vehicles. The seats are much nicer than the ones in the MaxPro models because you can get more than 4" of your ass onto them when armored up.

I currently own a wide variety of RG33L+, RG31, MaxPro+, MaxProMEAP, MaxProHAGAs, RG33HAGAs, and Caimans. Yes, I'm serious. No JERRVs, but your counterparts here are still rolling in them. No Buffs or Huskies because those are for the engineers.

It's been going as planned. Step out of post deployment leave and left for two months in Yuma, AZ. Had just time in between to buy a house, get married, and send the new wife to sea on the USNS Comfort for a humanitarian cruise through the Caribbean and Central America. She's about half way now. Pulling into Columbia, South America. I'm back from Yuma now but I've got a Commander, Naval Aviation Forces inspection, change of command for Squadron and Group, and work ups to completely kill my summer. My only solace is a home gym and I've found a range or two that is outdoors and set up for big bore long guns. Might be able to BZO my M1A Scout! The new wife gets home just in time to high five so I can deploy to 29 Palms for a month. Then it's predeployment leave and block ground training and I'm gone right at Halloween. It just seems like I stepped off of the bus and into my then fiance's arms...

I thought it looked like a christmas tree. Your mods had me confused. So you're telling me that with a wider beam, you're still pushing enough signal at 5W to hit the bird? Isn't that kind of iffy? Does weather/cloud cover or angle to the bird become a bigger factor?

I worked up at the top of the dam in the comm shop for the most part. I talked to a lot of the navy RIVRON guys up there too, they had a shop right across from mine.
