So, Since its been a year, it would be a rather enormous task to keep all those too lazy to delete me from their watchlists up on all of the happenings in my life of late.

But I'll update you on my musical dealings.

My old band, Axolotl, broke up. A somewhat sad time, but its ok, because the guitarist/songwriter was a fuck, the keyboardist didn't even like metal, and the bassist was at best mediocre and at worst a crazy fucking psycho betch that I used to date.

Here's a recording we did close to a year ago, before the break-up, to hear the direction we were taking things. For the record, the drum track is literally off a beat starting after the 2nd verse because of some serious editing fuck-ups we made in protools. I'm not so bad that I would play half a song offbeat. >< Oh right, we never got around to adding the bass track either. I am king of half-ass recordings. ^_^ On a lighter note, here is another song we recorded in the later days of Axolotl, a cover of N'sync's Bye Bye Bye.

Since then, I've formed another band with some friends. It includes one of the same guitarists and the vocalist from Axolotl, and is yet unnamed. We've got a few songs roughly written, though Teddy (vox) is slacking on getting lyrics written, here's a song we've got finished entirely except for the rest of the vocals. You get the idea though. Its recorded single mic, at around 5 AM (Teddy was tired, he doesn't usually have breathing issues like that in his screaming), and is perhaps only the 2nd time we were able to make it entirely through the song. Also, parts of the solo have been significantly tweaked to make it more impressive. Jordan (guitarist from Axolotl that isn't a fuckface) is getting quite good. Anyways, like I said earlier, I'm the king of uploading half-assed partially completed work.

      Enjoy.

BTW, the new band isn't called Army of Darkness, we just name the files that as a tribute to the Evil Dead trilogy until we can think of a real name.

So, I just thought I'd write a journal.

I'd do a status update, but there'd be too much to write, considering I haven't put anything here in like a year and a half.

      Does anyone still watch this?

(That would be your cue to comment, unknown watchers)

      Rawr.

      And shit.

This morning I turned off my computer to open it up. I added a pci network card, and used a power supply tester on the power supply (as a control to make sure the tester was working). Then I closed up my case and booted up the computer. Windows starts up as normal, but it only gets around halfway through its startup routine (a lot of processes don't boot up), and when I go to 'My Computer' the window opens and freezes up. In addition to this, a lot of other programs, including firefox and all my antivirus and antispyware software don't fully boot up either. Then occasionally if I click around the desktop a few times my motherboard will let out a single bleep, and the computer totally freezes. I have no idea what the hell is going on here. A very similar thing happened a few months ago, but it just kind of sorted itself out after I played around with it for an hour or so. But that doesn't seem to be happening here. I have tried removing the network card I put in earlier, and it makes no difference.

      My Specs
      AMD 3200+ X2 Processor
      2 GB PC3200 RAM
      Gigabyte GA-K8n-SLI Motherboard
      Nvidia GeForce 6600 Graphics Card

I built it myself about a year ago.

Orlando Bloom takes himself to seriously. He delivers every line with an overtone of importance that makes it seem as if he believes what he is saying to be the most important thing ever said in the history of important things.

Kiera Knightly has the same problem. With her however, its for forgivable, as I enjoy looking at her.

I am convinced Catherine Keener Is the hottest 46 year old that I've ever seen in a very realistic and plain way.

      Steve Buscemi
is the ultimate in pwnage. True Story.

      Nicholas Cage
has 3 types of roles. The mainstream hero role. The crazy redneck role, and the depressed realist role. The latter two are performed excellently and are great. The former sucks balls.

      Ian McShane
has made Al Sweringen one of most intriguing television characters in history. Everything about him is both admirable and repulsive.

      John Malkovich
and Gary Sinise are crazy. CRAZY GOOD.

I hate Denzel Washington. I find him overrated, and I think every character he does is the same. That character is arrogant, unlikable, and generally disagreeable as well.

Jessica Alba is extremely attractive. She cannot act for shit, however. She should ditch that job and focus on what everyone really wants to see her do.... Nude Modeling!

Will Ferral is pretty funny... but he needs to stop showing his ass so much. I've had enough of Will Ferral's ass taking up valuable comic screen time.

Christopher Walken should play every 50+ year old male role ever. EVAR.

Owen Wilson should stick to writing. Rushmore was genius.

I don't find Johnny Depp overrated in the least. I think the bulk of his praise is deserved.

Martin Lawrence has never been funny, is not funny, and never will be funny. Stop giving him money to play shitty parts in shitty movies.

      Hugh Laurie makes me lawl.

After watching numerous Coen Brothers films, I believe John Turturro, Peter Stormare, John Goodman, and Jon Polito are some of the most underrated actors around today.

Quentin Tarrantino is for the most part a dick. But an EXTREMELY talanted dick... so it is excusable.

Frances McDormand has done awfully well for herself as a dramatic actor for looking so plain.

Alright... thats enough for now... XD

As I promised to the metal thread, I've uploaded Dream Theater's cover of the Number of the Beast (whole album). It isn't the official bootleg, rather an audience recording from the Osaka show in April, 2004. The quality is quite good though. I think you'll enjoy it.

So my dad's computer finally died. It came down to one of two options. I either had to share mine with his, or I had to build my own computer and let him have my old ones. While the end result is I'm now broke... it was really a no brainer.

I'm bringing my hard drives and optical drives over from my old computer, as well as my PSU.

      What I Bought
      Processor
      Motherboard
      Case
Video Card (Its not very nice, but I needed something and it was cheap, I'm gonna go all out with a couple nice cards in SLI when I have more money at like Xmas time)
      Also, 2 gigs of RAM.

All in all, around 600$. Like I said, later i'll get better vid cards, but a 6600 will do me well for now.

I'm really excited about the RAM and the Dual Cores. Plus the case is fucking badass.

      =)

      BLAM!!

I got bored yesterday and decided to take a video of myself playing the drums. Its about 9 minutes and length, and all improv of course, so there are a few not so great sections. For the most part, however, I'm happy with how it turned out. I have terrible posture... XD

You'd all better download it, cuz 35 megs on 56k is a bitch to upload. oO

Eh, haven't updated this in awhile.

New Stuff: Started taking a microeconomics class at MSU, its pretty easy. I got my driver's license, I bought some new CDs, I applied to Best Buy.

Uhh, here's a pretty old vid of Axolotl playing Dream Theater's War Inside My Head instrumentally (its not all that great, but i'll link it anyways.).

Other than that I don't have a whole lot else to say...

oh right, THIS vid is pretty freaking amazing, whether you're a drummer or not. Its in some scandanavian language, but you can get the general idea from his actions, its something I would definately love to learn to do... oO.

And other than that, I don't have much else to say, I may have uploaded a few more random songs here, but I don't think theres much of interest that most of you don't already have.

Sorry, but judging from the song that's already been released, there's little chance they'll come close. :P
I'm eager to hear how they'll sound with solid production, but it will still just be A Celebration of Guilt part 2. Enslaved may not be as technical, but they still offer a much more satisfactory listen.

Do you have any recommendations for a cheap set of cymbals?

Single stroke rolls is indeed the correct term, however, the current holder of the title of fastest single stroke roll for both matched grip (1247 BPM) and traditional grip (1126 BPM) is prog metal session drummer Mike Mangini (Annihilator, James Labrie, Steve Vai). He did only set this record in 2004, I believe, though, so the drummer you speak of may have been a previous record holder.

Fastest feet is held by Tim Waterson (no bands, thats the only thing he's known for), with singles at 1030 BPM, and doubles at 1407 BPM. He does the doubles using a heel-toe method, so that he gets two hits out of each stroke on the pedal (one from the his heel at the bottom of the pedal and a 2nd as he rolls his foot up to the toe), so essentially, he is diddling on a bass drum. The reason he can do that faster than mangini did on hands is because mangini was single stroking, had he been diddling, he probably could have broke the 2000 mark for hands, or at least 16-1700.

      The more you know! =P

Shoot man, well done. I suppose a certain Metal-Archives page needs some updating...

BTW for future reference the record was for feet.

Thats Cool, I have played Paragons and Their Ok, I have never been a fan of Sabian Hi-Hats, Love their Crashes and Rides, but their hi-hats are not for me, I use Zildjian Newbeats. Talk about eargasms....

For my cymbals I use a 21 inch Sabian AAX Stage Ride, a 18 Inch Sabian AAX Dark Crash, a 16 inch Sabian AA "El Sabor' Crash, and a Zildjian 8 inch A Series Fast Splash.

I also Use the Iron Cobra bass pedals.
