No one likely will read this, but for now, this is the only place I can say it "out loud": I'm having a baby! It will be here in May, I'm so excited (c:

Normally I'd tweet or facebook the hell out of this, but family who don't know yet might see, so I figure for now, my secret is safe here.

      Hope you're all well. smiley12.gif

I've finally made my way back. I have just been crazy busy this semester with work, school and preparing for the Holidays.

School has gone really well this semester. I am taking 2 classes: Introduction to Film from its inception to the 1950s and Health & Sports for Life. A required 2 credits of "gym" to graduate from a SUNY program. Anyhow, film class has been amazing. We've seen so many great movies. I actually even really enjoyed the silent films we watched (Tol'able David, The Crowd, The Gold Rush). Nosferatu was a film I was excited for, but it ended up sucking. The Lady Eve and The Maltese Falcon were both amazing, I know I'm really going out on a limb there(ha-ha), but seriously, I enjoyed them.

My film professor actually recommended that I apply to the Honors Program at school and after a little consideration (and working up the courage to ask 2 professors for recommendations) I did and was accepted! It was exciting and it made me feel like I made the right decision by going back to school and it reminded me that I actually am smart sometimes, which was a nice feeling.

I celebrated my first year of married life on November 1st and my husband came down with full-on Swine Flu after our cruise that day. Thankfully even though we were in close quarters I never got it. I don't know how, but I feel like I really dodged a bullet. Must be all that bacon I ate on the cruise. smiley8.gif

I hope you're all well. I tried catching up on journals and I'm slowly making my way through them all. I am trying to comment on everything, but I am just way out of the loop. It seems like I'm good for a quarterly check-in here on RvB.

Take care and have WONDERFUL holidays. smiley12.gifsmiley9.gif

I forgot to mention that last weekend hubby came back from the grocery store with a two sixers of Octoberfest in hand. Joy. Joy. Joy.

Go forth in drunken, delicious, peace.

Just saw the stat on the side of my profile that says I signed up here 4 years ago (October will be 5). So much has happened in those 4 years. I bought a condo, I got married, I moved from my hometown, I've had three jobs (and finally landed at one I like!), survived several avatar trends, and gotten 2 puppies!

I was young (23) and had the world by the balls back then. I remember writing on my blog about my obsession with playing Halo (the original) and someone left a comment that pointed me to the site. All I found were video game players, awesome chicks and hockey addicts. It was like my home away from the mental institution home...

Good times, I love you guys.

Back to school this fall. I have finally gotten off my lazy ass and re-enrolled, gotten all of the paperwork in order and now I have finally registered. I am only taking two classes to try and ease my way back in. I'm about halfway to my associates degree 'cause I'm lazy and would have always rather socialized in the past and now I'm really going to buckle down. I'm taking an Intro to Early Film from its inception to the 1950s. It should be *sort of* helpful with my job. I am also taking a MANDATORY 2 credit P.E. class. That is so awful, but at least it will encourage me to do some excercise. I've gotten WAY too lazy for my own good.

I have thankfully never had any trouble finding a job without a degree because I've had the experience to back it up. Now I just want the damn piece of paper so I can frame it and just be done. I will likely try and finish my bachelors, too. Now that I'm in the SUNY system it will be a little more affordable. I just think it is funny because 10 years ago this summer I graduated from high school. Right about this time 10 years ago I was moving into my dorm at UConn. School has pretty much been on hold or in some awful state of disarray since then and now here I am really ready to get it done. Maybe I just needed a break. Who knows. Either way I have a good feeling about it and I'm really looking forward to getting back in the classroom.

...amazing. I just spent a week there without my husband and working and yet I cannot WAIT to get back there. I was always an east coaster and now I find myself questioning that. I can't wait to go back although I think I'll have to wait until February. Boo.

Anyhow, it was magical and I have a friend or two out there now as well. I can't wait for some of them to come to NY so I can take them around. I also can't wait to check out Beauty Bar in NYC because we went to the one in LA and it was so fun and wanna make sure the NY version is just as good.

Hope you're all well. Also, I had a waiter who I was CONVINCED was Kail and I almost asked him that, 'cept I didn't quite know how to bridge the nerdy gap. So, Kail, if you read this: you have a doppelganger working in Hollywood at the Shabu-Shabu/Sushi place at the Highland Center.

Yesterday my birthday unceremoniously passed and I added another year to my time here. I'm 28. That is a very boring age, people.

I spent my birthday in DC. It was awesome. I hula hooped my way to a free upgrade to a helix suite at the delightful Hotel Helix in DuPont Circle. There were good eats to be had, good booze and decent weather. If you ever have the chance to stay at a Kimpton Hotel it's the way to go. They're super cute and hip without being too cool for the room. Plus, they have super delicious bars and sponsor either a wine hour or bubbly hour. Lucky for me the helix was all about the bubbles!

Puppies are good, hubby is good, life is good. Work is very busy. I love my new job and may be getting shipped out to Los Angeles for a week for some super cool business. I may even get to meet some celebs which I am also pumped about.

What else is going on...um...I dunno. I think that's all. I miss you guys. I try to catch up on here every once in a while, but I want to set aside time to read and comment on everyone's journals, not just skim. Now there are all these groups and people are using the forum. Craziness. I'm turning into a fuddy duddy.

They're retiring former Ranger Adam Graves' number tonight at the Garden. I lucked into a ticket for this event at like 10:00 last night and I don't have to pay, and my seat rocks! Hubby is sad that he can't go, but I get to spend time with one of my most wonderful girlfriends. I am so excited, I've never been to one of the number retiring ceremonies. There will be photos, and drunkenness, and maybe, if we're really lucky, a Rangers win.

Heya! Yeah the Tartan Day seems to be the one parade that's on the down low. Mom and I managed to see it the first year they did it where Sean Connery was the Grand Marshall *squee*. The only reason we found out about it was they used to advertise for it on the Shuttle. The Shuttle, of all places. No wonder hardly anyone knew about it! The following year or so we forgot to go, the year after that we spent it arriving too late, and last year we were chasing after the parade because though we got thre on time, it had already passed it was so small!

Next year, you, me, mom and your Westie totally have to go to the parade!

Cake Balls - Make a batch of your favorite cake, cool for 30 min, crumble cake into a bowl while still warm, mix in a can of frosting (your choice of flavor), cool in fridge for about 2 hours, mold into balls using a scoop or your hands (i gave up on the scoop quickly), put in the fridge another 2 hours, then coat with a confectioner coating (I've heard almond bark among other things, I used white chocolate that I thinned down too much with heavy cream, but the non thinned down version was great).
