So, instead of studying today, I was stumbling along and came across this.

Now, I really don't know anything much about Touhou, except a few characters (which I think was inevitable when spending time on anime sites...), but this was just really well done. Quite beautiful style.

      foosoft.net/pub/flash/touhou/e129843f4dd617d801a4a2f81ddf1498.swf

      Enjoy.

I felt like I should post a journal, considering I've been missing for a while.

So. Yeah... Um... Back at school. It's been hell, but it's nice to get back to anime club. Also, nice to be back in Florida. No hurricanes have hit us yet...

Also, Reach next week, and then Etrian Odyssey 3 the week after. And my birthday right in the middle of that. Works out pretty well, if you ask me.

Oh yeah, got a new camera. Rebel XSi 450D. It's a beast. I'm quite happy with it.

So, yeah, forced update is now over. Who knows, I might be making a few more posts now that I'm back at school, but it's hard to say.

      Cheers,

I'm in the Czech Republic. And I don't even know what day or what time it is any more. I am hugely disoriented.

It's still cool, though. Turns out not many people speak English over here. And the only things I know how to say in Czech are 'hello' and 'good day'...

Now, off the the race-course to train.

So, I haven't posted anything for a very, very long time. I've been busy. Very, very busy.

In fact, I'm so busy and tired that I can't wait for school to start again, so I can relax again. Still, that being said, it's all my fault. You see, I'm on Canada's Junior National Team for rowing, so we're training like hell to get ready for the World Rowing Junior Championships in the Czech Republic in August. It's awesome, and worth it, but sometimes it's hard to remember that when I feel like I'm about to die. Which is most of the time.

Yup, so... time for more practice... Yay...

      Cheers,

So, I had the worst sleep I've probably had in over a year last night. I mean, I went to bed at 10:30, didn't end up falling asleep until 3:30, and was up every 20-ish minutes after that... Which sucked.
But then, I get to crew practice this morning, and find out that several other people there couldn't sleep either. At this point I figure it's just all of us getting nervous about the 2k test we have to do this week, right? Wrong.

I log on to Facebook this morning, and another 10 people have posted saying how terrible they slept last night.

Seriously, what the hell is going on?

Just finished ME2... and it was awesome. Don't know how else to put it. Wonderful gameplay, great story, and just a hell of a lot of fun. What I really noticed from the first game was that the sidequests worked a lot better. I'm pretty sure I've done nearly all of them, but it never really felt like I was 'leaving' the main story. Also, combat was a lot better, especially with the new powers.
Also awesome: a certain squad mate... Legion . When I first saw him, I was like, "Damn, that's pretty cool." And then I found out that he got to be a squadmate, and I was like, "Holy shit, epic!"

Yeah, so great game, really, really, really awesome.
I can't wait to do another playthrough as a renegade. I find it hard to be an asshole on my actual playthrough, but I revel in it when I specifically set out to screw with everybody.

      Cheers,
      /Docky

Like I said, it was a nice diversion, but I'm not sure it was worth the 25 bucks I paid for a used copy, despite the things I liked about it. I probably won't sell it, though. I'm just not the kind of guy who can be parted from his stuff very easily.
Yes, the skill system was a highlight, but... there isn't much of a variety of skills. From what I saw, there's basically four levels of spells for each of the four elements, two healing spell levels, a dash and a backstep, Soul Capture, a handful of casting support skills, and maybe five weapon skills for every weapon except the rod(including the Add One --- and Add Two ---, so three special attacks).
If you've got the spare change, go for it. I just got it because the cover looked anime-esque. In hindsight, why the hell is the gatekeeper on the cover...? She doesn't do much...

I hear the Luminous Arc games also have a superb musical score. Yet another reason I'd love to have them. Plus, from what I understand LA 2 comes with a CD. That would be great.
And you're watching Index? I envy you. It's pretty high up on my list of anime I need to watch. I might want to watch Umineko first, but I'd like to watch both before they grow outdated. This computer is causing me to bet left behind...

Ha ha. Don't worry, spoilers will not be given unless asked for. As for the beating of Dragon Age, I sat in my chair, in front of my laptop the entire weekend. Truly, it was fantastic. I didn't think it would've taken me this long to finish it. I started it after class Friday afternoon and finished at about 8 last night. I love it when games do that to me. It tests my resolve. Also, the game was just awesome, so that was a bonus. Also also, don't worry, no spoilers, Shale is funny.

And don't worry about beating. Just enjoy it. The story and background are amazing. I beat so fast because, as the above indicates, I am a hardcore gamer. I mean really hardcore.

Thanks for the comments. I didn't notice the sharpness of the shadow in between the lips until you pointed it out. Thanks. Also, didn't notice the thinness of the thumb. I'll be sure to fix the shadow, but the thumb I'll have to leave as is, considering the amount of work involved in redoing it. I'm a little lazy when it comes to projects that have already been graded. Thanks again.

    • Raltrios

I can understand that. Actually, there's an achievement in the game where you pretty much have to avoid or run from every battle you can. You get it if you can get to and beat Barbos when you're below level 15. Probably next to impossible for a first playthrough, but in an EX new game you buy a bonus that cuts all experience you earn in half, so that would help. Plus, you keep all your weapons, so if you have the Fell Arms powered up a bit, I don't think it would be too bad. I haven't done it yet, though.

    • Raltrios

I'm guessing you actively avoid most battles or something, 'cause I don't think I had much of a problem with them on my first playthrough. Have you tried turning the difficulty down to Easy? It may also help to use artes that knock them to the ground a lot so they can't attack you as much. See if you can cook something to boost defense or attack power before the battle, too. It may give you the edge you need.

    • Raltrios

You can't beat them, or you can't get the secret mission? To get the secret mission, just hit Nan when she can't move after she uses Rending Drop (she'll be on her head, I think), and hit Tyson when his arms are stuck in the ground after he uses (can't remember the name) an arte that sends energy snakes through the ground under you. Just set all of your allies to defend so they don't kill them before you've hit them both.

I know there's been a lot of hype about it, and I've heard it has a pretty good story. How's it start off? Or is it different for each character type?

Yep... I'm pretty much all of those (except I have been told that I'm fairly good looking) and I'm not a level 80 Paladin (I make up for that in different ways... 15 level 100s (2 of which are shiny) in Diamond, at least 2 playthroughs of every RPG I own (usually 3), and a hell of a lot of chess)...

    • cabosetek

Screw the world, indeed. I think anyone that can actually get 25 kills in a row deserves to screw the world. It's ridiculous. If you want to see it, here's a link, kotaku.com/5394348/25-kill-streak-in-mw2-delivers-you-a-really-big-bang

But you should take this with a grain of salt. It hasn't been officially confirmed by Infinity Ward yet, but most likely it will be. Confirmed that is.

Yup. BTW, I recently read a kill streak list for MW2. If you don't know what a killstreak is, it's basically the game rewarding the player for getting a certain amount of kills without dying. Three kills, a UAV, five kills, an air strike, etc. etc. Anyway, Modern Warfare 2 has about 15 different kill streak rewards the player can choose to use. We only get three by the way. To continue, the last on the list was a massive 25 kill streak, which is pretty difficult to get, trust me. This gives the player the ability to call in a tactical nuke. Yup. A nuke. That kills everybody. Including the player. And ends the game.
