That's the slogan I'm going with as I ring in the new year. Hope everyone had a lovely and safe one.
Me? I went to a party with some friends. We got to playing the Guitar Hero, as we all tend to do so much. And personally, I was in a zone tonight. I knew the night was going to be something special when my best friend's girlfriend, who happens to be pretty good, played pro-faceoff against a complete novice, on hard, on John The Fisherman in GH2. About halfway through the song he gave up, and handed me the guitar in joking disgust of himself. With a 5,000 point deficit, I was determined to make a game of it. I lost eventually, but by 80 points.
So a little later my best friend and I start co-oping, and we find our way to Less Talk More Rokk. Well, on hard we creamed it, and for some reason I remember the song being harder than it was tonight. So we said eff it, and tried it on Expert (we were playing on Hard). Well, less than halfway through, we were booed off the stage. We tried it again. Even less this time. But something didn't feel right about it. So I tired it solo. On Expert. And nailed it. 79% may not sound good, but it was still a complete song, and that song is hard.
Didn't stop there though, oh no. I brought my GH3 along. After some continuation of the career co-op, and getting warmed-up, I tried my hand at a song I have yet to complete on Hard: Before I Forget by Slipknot. Nailed it, 87%.
There's really only one thing left after that. Metallica. One. I had yet to get passed 79% of the song. Neither has anyone I know who played it. They get to that fast solo, then bam! It's over Johnny. But I felt it, I was in a zone. I felt like Reggie Miller against the Knicks, I could hit anything.
      Nailed it. 83%.
      Happy New year.

(I know there's a 9 year old kid on youtube that can get 100% on every song on every game on every difficulty, but this was hard for me so BACK OFF!)

    • The Fly situation

      DormantUlcer

Okay, this has been killing me all day. Something is stuck in my head, something from a show or a movie. And for the life of me, I can't place it. Me. Mr. Moviequoteguy. I know, it's crazy. Help me out.
Here's the scenario: There's a group of people. One of them is being bothered on and off by a fly. No one else sees this fly, and thus just think he's (or she) is making it up. The fly continues to bother this person, as does the fact no one believes them. This goes on to the point we, the audience, starts to think they're crazy as well. Until the end, where someone else finally sees the fly. And that person realizes that the other person wasn't crazy after all.
I've gone through the list of shows I watch, and only a few seem to match up. I've narrowed it down to Battlestar Galactica, Scrubs, or a third option that isn't either of those two.
Please, if this is familiar to you, help a brotha out. I'm not crazy. This happened.

    • Autobots... ROLL OUT!

So, here's the problems I had with Transformers (spoilers ahead, turn back now, queers):

      - Story went from interesting to far too cheesy.
      - Transformers personalities were lame, you'd think with such a small amount introduced you'd take just another minute or two to develop one or two of them.
      - The high school bully at the beginning. Are people really still acting like Johnny from the Kobra Kais? When are we gonna lose this obviously cliche stereotype?
      - When Jazz died, I didn't really care. Aren't we supposed to care? Cuz I sure didn't. Which brings us back to point #2.
      - Effects, as cool as most were, were too fast to follow at times. I'm finding this to be a trend now, and also beginning to call it a cop out. Don't really feel like making a huge effects scene? Make it too fast to really view, and people will just assume they're watching something awesome.
      - The scene in the bedroom looking for the glasses with the Autobots outside, far too long. It went from humorous to old pretty quick. I'm assuming Sam Raimi edited that scene.
      - Before the movie I jokingly said to the people I was going with "If the phrase 'more than meets the eye' is used, I'm walking out". I was pretty pissed when I had to walk out 20 minutes into the movie. (I didn't really walk out, but you get what I'm saying.)
      - Fans of the cartoon didn't like the naming of some of the 'formers, this didn't bother me so much, only that with the exception of like 3, they were all introduced once with names, and I had forgotten all the names by the time any of it mattered. Who was fighting who, who was winning, what just happened, which one is that, were question I found myself lost in by the time that final battle came around. Hell, I didn't even know it was Jazz until someone had to tell me.
      - I was told there was going to be tension between Megatron and Starscream, which was a constant in the show, and a wonderful one at that. With the exception of the line "You have failed me for the last time, Starscream", there was no tension. There was only Starscream kicking serious ass.
      - John Turturro's character.

There were good things about the movie:
      - Shia LaBeouf held the fort as a lead exceptionally well, and I wish him tremendous success in the future.
      - Peter Cullen voiced Optimus. That was huge.
      - Starscream kicked serious ass.
      - John Turturro's character.

Going to see Die Hard tonight. If this lets me down, I'm quitting movies and just watching Snatch and Grosse Pointe Blank everyday for the rest of my life.

I got a job. A real job. Those of you on the northeast coast may be familiar with Bob's Stores. This will be my 4th stint with them, third different store location. Retail is like the mafia, just when you think you're out, they pull you back in.
Or you go to them cuz you don't have a job and are desperate.

And who kidnapped the Lady Huskies and replaced them with the Men? So upsetting, what a stinky March.

I had to turn O&A off yesterday when they started talking about it because I didn't want to have the end ruined for me. Then on the ride home after I'd finished the book I missed all the HP talk on the replay. I bet you've got a neat wzrding name though, haha.

The Lions game scares me for two reasons - 1) Their defense is better than anyone gives them credit for. The reason they can't win games is because the offense is horribly inept and since the defense pretty much has to play the whole game, the scores will eventaully come in the second half. 2) Vick hasn't gotten hurt yet this year and I suspect this game will be a "letdown" for the O-line which leaves Vick open to breaking his leg again.

      Prediciton: Falcons 31 - Lions 14.
