Sooooo, yeah. It was awesome. Going to see it again today. I didn't get a chance to read the book, but I hear it followed it extremely well. Historically, though, it was spruced up for entertainment reasons, but I can deal with that. The story was dramatic, the atmosphere backed it up perfectly, and the cinematography for the fight scenes were in-TENSE. I suggest going to see it, it may be the best movie you see this year. For some of you, it may be the best movie you ever see.
Don't be one of those people. Open yourself up a little more.

Thanks to the wonders of wikipedia, or 'The Wik' as I like to call it (wait, no I don't, what the fuck?), I've been brushing up on my ancient Spartan history in preparation for the upcoming cinematic presentation of good ol Frank Miller's 300. Next for me is to take my ass to the comic store and buy the graphic novel, before good ol Frank Miller comes to my house and beats me with my own legs, which he ripped off seconds prior. Ah, good ol Frank Miller, what a silly goose.
When I first saw a trailer for 300, I was in another room, and all I heard was the NIN (Nine Inch Nails, for those of you who stink on ice and don't know what NIN stands for) song in it. Having never heard this song in mainstream entertainment, yet knowing every chord by heart thanks to The Fragile (Left), I rushed into the room to investigate. "Great," I thought. "Another comic book movie of a comic book I never read. But it does look interesting. I suppose."
Somewhere between then and now, I'm utterly convinced that 300 is the greatest movie I will ever fucking see. I'm beginning to think it's called 300 cuz that's how many times I'm going to see it.

    • Something about a bigger boat

Despite just about every scene with the automated shark being cheesy as sin, Jaws is absolutely one of the greatest movies ever. Ever.
Boy that shark tore the shit out of that boat.
When my cousin was like 10 I made him watch it, cuz it was on and I liked it. It scared the shit out of him. I told him that one day he'd appreciate it. Sure enough, he does now. He's in his 20s now, and he ranks it one of his top 5 all-time. And it was made 10 years before he was born.

I was watching some movie channel a few weeks ago, and Jaws 3 was on. What a boner of a movie that was. Can you guess what came on after that? That's right, Jaws The Revenge. Now, if I'm a movie channel, or any channel for that matter, and I'm gonna play 2 Jaws movies back to back, it sure as shit ain't gonna be those two crapfests. Now, even if I give this channel the benefit of the doubt and assume they played all four of them in order and I just turned it on during 3, that's still unacceptable. If you're gonna do a Jaws marathon, stop at 2. No one in their right mind is gonna complain "why didn't they play 3 and 4?!"
      Just my opinion.

      Good game, though.

Why did the Ravens lose? Cuz Steve McNair is still an overrated player. He was NEVER as good as people made him to be. Jamal Lewis lost a step years ago, and shouldn't be a featured back anymore. The defense did everything they could, but the offense, which is supposed to be Billick's forte, produced nothing. You expect me to believe the Colts D is that good? Door swings both ways.

Why did San Diego lose? Marty Schottenheimer. 5-13 in the playoffs. Numbers don't lie. Sorry L.T. People will say the better coach won but the better team lost, but in this era and the parity (parody) of the league, your coaching staff defines your team. The game-plan going into the game and the adjustments made during the game determines wins and losses.

Why did the Eagles lose? Cuz Reggie Bush once again helped his team by blinding the opposition with hype, allowing Deuce McAllister to have another good game. And Drew Brees is, in fact, good. And Jeff Garcia is, in fact, a chump. And Andy Reid is, in fact, a little girl. Make that a big girl.

Why did Seattle lose? That's actually a good question. I guess it comes down to big time players and big time teams make big time plays in big time situations.

My predicted teams are still alive, as is my prediction. Patriots over Bears, 46-10.

I hope you're right. For some reason, I don't think that any O-Line is "adaptive" enough for a QB like Vick. They have to develop some way of blocking for him so that when he breaks off the play, they can figure out where he's going to be. It's neither party's fault... a mobile QB adds problems for D-lines and O-lines that have to block for them.

      TAG YOU ARE IT!

      The Game of Tag
If I tagged you... HA! You now have to follow the rules of the game:

-You cannot tag someone who tagged you
-You should tag at least 5 other people (those with 4 or less will be punished by flogging or any other way I can think of)
      -Random tagging is accepted
-All tagging should be done in the personal comments section on the homepage of the tag-ee
-Do not eat a live chicken
-This game is only fun if people participate
-The goal is for everyone on the site to get tagged EVENTUALLY
-If you decide to participate, post the rules in your journal or link them to this journal
-I have a space monkey in my pics section
-There is no violence until I change the game to capture the flag
-When capture the flag breaks out, the teams will cluck like chickens until I am satisfied (....???)
