Nearly 9 years ago, I joined this site as IrishWalnut. I posted on a few threads. I followed people like JJMcFly and some others. One of those people was lefty.

Never in a million years did I think I'd ever meet him, but for whatever reason we kept in contact for years. I frequently (and silently) would agonize over what a great guy he seemed like, and how attractive I found him. Once, I had a job opportunity and did a phone interview for a job in Madison. I did not think I'd ever move to Wisconsin, but Ben said it would be cool to hang out with me.

He had a girlfriend. I had a boyfriend. We'd chat on AIM every once in a while. He sent me the TMBG discography. I bought an Xbox controller off him and sent him some TMBG stickers with his payment. I sent him Paul Simon mp3s. He sent me Kickass comics. He suggested I go to an mc chris concert, and I did. I sent him video footage of me raising one eyebrow at a time. I made a video (like those "It Gets Better" videos) about Zombies that I narrated. He sent me a case of Cry Baby Tears, knowing I love sour candy.

And on February 10th, 2011, I flew to Wisconsin to meet Ben. In October of 2011 I moved here for good.

And now today, after almost a decade of knowing one another, lefty asked me to marry him. And I said yes. He's been the sweetest, most hilarious person I've ever known let alone dated, and he's the porkchop to my applesauce.

      I love you, lefty.

And thanks to Red Vs Blue for being a way more kickass site than match.com.

Our cable box in the bedroom has had frequent problems. I don't know if it's my TV, if it's the damned box, or whatever, but I was sick of it. We're returning it, saving us 5 bucks a month. Instead, I got a roku box for our room, and since I have amazon prime (and also bought the NHL Game Center Live subscription)... the bedroom TV is now awesome.

Since we don't have a stereo hooked up... at all... in our house (I gave my PA system/ipod hookup to my brother a long time ago, I don't know what happened to Ben's)... the streaming Pandora from the TV is pretty sweet. I can do the same on my computer, sure, but the sound wouldn't be as good.

Anyway, I really like it. And now I can watch NY Ranger games in Wisconsin. Yay!

Like Ben's journal mentioned, my dad passed away (on Dec 19th). It was not the best Christmas/birthday week I had been hoping for in my first holiday season away from NY. But, it was good nevertheless. I got to spend Christmas Eve with Ben's family. It was very nice, and very different from the way my family celebrated. All good stuff all around. My birthday involved two events I don't particularly like; going to a funeral and going on a plane. Luckily, the plane ride was made considerably more comfortable because we were in first class (not indicated on my reservation, anywhere, until we checked in. Oh Expedia...) so I got tipsy on the ride home.

There are two things that bother me about my father's death (well, there's a lot, but these more than the rest)... first, that he never got to see what I got him for Christmas (I didn't want him to think I forgot him just because I moved) and that I didn't get to actually say goodbye. When my mom was putting the phone up to his ear, he was already in a coma... there was no response. I'm not sure if he heard anything. I'd have preferred to have been there. The last time I saw him was October 1st, around 9:30pm (right before we left for Wisconsin).

    • A Mostly Green Christmas

Ben has an awesome Christmas gift in store for him, but part of it I had to give him early because we have tickets to this coming Sunday's Packers game. I've never been to a football game or Green Bay at all. Should be fun!

Ben also found part of my gift-- well the part that isn't really my gift to him, but rather clues prior to opening. I have two voice recording buttons... one says "Kiss Confirmed" and the other says "Friendly Care Package Inbound"... hmmmm what could Ben be getting for Christmas if he already has MW3?

OoooOOOOOooo. Hmm. Parts of his gift are green as well. Interesting.

We went to CMP Lazer Tag in Milwaukee this past weekend. I really liked the headsets vs stupid vests. I haven't played laser tag since, I don't know, 1999? 2000 maybe? It's been forever. I remember the lame fog machines and the black lights. None of this was a factor at CMP. It was a couple of makeshift buildings (two levels), a few plastic barrels here and there, and a cool basement area in one building that you can crawl (blindly) through.
The coolest part was the guns. They looked so much cooler than the plastic crap I expected. I do wish the building itself was laid out cooler. I was expecting a warehouse-- like Area 51 games. I'd go back. I wanted to get a home laser tag system, but Ben claims it won't be fun with two people. Laaaaaame.

    • MW3

I picked up MW3 today (along with a breadmaker, rice cooker, and various crap for the apartment that I deemed we needed).

I aaaalso picked up (online) the rest of the stuff I needed for Ben's supremely awesome Christmas gift.

I am all about presentation and detail, and I just want to say again... it is awesome.

Christmas is a bad holiday for me because I like arranging items together, and wind up spending way more than I should. I already started on my brother too, and I just need to stop before I get too crazy.

But omg, it's perfect stuff for both of them.

Ben got that neat double pack where you get Arkham City and Arkham Asylum in one. I'm going to start Asylum as I've never played it. Ben offered to watch and help me. (AKA I'm terrible)

I am liking the new job and the new neighborhood. I noticed a small group of my fark.com acquaintances actually live in Wisconsin. I never realized in the four years I've kept up with that site.

It's getting cold here. I should have expected this.
