    • I Believe We Had WAY TOO HIGH Exp. for Prometheus

So last night some friends and I went to go catch Prometheus on opening night. Only I was extremely pumped for it since I smiley12.gif Ridley Scott and the Alien franchise. My other friends just tagged along because they had free movie tix for the theater. We were originally going to go catch it at 9:00 but it sold out and we had to wait until 11:00. At first I was fine, but then after realizing that I had only slept about 3 hrs the night before, I was incredibly tired. The movie started out pretty slow and some hiccups in the script but I think that was just me wanting to embrace sleep.

Point of the story being is that I really liked the film, 8/10, but I think it will be the most over-hyped film this year. It will be second behind The Hobbit if they don't change it back to 24fraps

The Journey to Barsoom Has Begun

Since its publication more than 100 years ago, many science-fiction writers and filmmakers have been heavily influenced by Edgar Rice Burroughs’ novel A Princess of Mars. Finally, after legal troubles and many failed scripts, Burroughs’ story has found its way to Disney and the silver screen. However,, whether or not this was a smart investment remains to be seen

The film follows Civil War soldier John Carter (Kitsch) as he finds himself on Mars, or Barsoom as the natives of the planet refer to it, by using an ancient artifact he found in a cave. In his adventure, he meets the alien leader Tars Tarkas (Dafoe) and humanoid Mars princess Dejah Thoris (Collins) who ask for his help to fight the nation of Zodanga. The plot has influenced many science-fiction works, including James Cameron’s Avatar and and George Lucas’ Star Wars saga. That being said, the entire film is very original for its time but has been surpassed by these many other great works. The world of Barsoom and its natives are highly creative and makes the technical crew shine. The visual effects are marvelous and the CGI for the aliens give James Cameron a run for his money. Unfortunately, the 3D is not noteworthy and forgettable very quickly after the beginning of the film.

All of the acting is mediocre, except that of Willem Dafoe, who did not give his best performance, but he does manage to outshine the cast. Throughout the film, the audience will fail to connect with the characters and their struggles until the last scenes.. The ending sets up the sequel, The Gods of Mars, in a very intelligent fashion that was not in the original source material. The soundtrack was lackluster and hardly made an appeal to emotion or improved any scenes.

As many analysts will say, John Carter is a major gamble of Disney’s money due to audience’s lack of interest in science-fiction stories. Being an almost unknown franchise, I fear for the overall gross of the film and I am more than certain it will hardly show a return of its $250 million budget. The film really depends on the person watching and their interest in sci-fi storytelling. I really wanted to like John Carter more than I did, but I have no interest to return for another viewing

Hello RT community! So recently I finished Mass Effect 3 and being a fan for almost 5 years since the series made it's debut, I was extremely disappointed along with thousands of others with the ending to this milestone in, not just gaming, but storytelling on a global scale. BioWare has created a masterpiece for millions of people to fall in love with and I thank them for it.

I do NOT in any way condone any form of attack on BioWare employees or families. The internet is place filled with assholes and strong video-game fan bases that overreact to changes in a game. It is the bitching and wining of gamers when something is messed up at all that causes public eye to look at gaming as immature and a waste of time. I am not bitching about the ending but merely sharing with people who have a similar passion for this franchise an ending I pictured for nearly two years since Mass Effect 2. The end left way too many plots opened, mainly the fate of all your squad mates you have become attached too for years. I believe that I can come up with a "true" ending to the trilogy and I just wanted to ask some people to read a rough-script of my version.

I know it's difficult to take someone out of the blue seriously since I am not a professional writer, but as a fan, the series deserves justice. As a fellow gamer, I merely did this for fun and to spread my ideals of this story to the ME Community. It is all hand-written in a journal that I had with me during the day so I have to type it out first. Please let me know if anybody is interested

Thank you for your time. smiley1.gif

Just to be quick and get it out of the way, Rooney Mara did an outstanding job as Salander. She surpassed my expectations and put any doubts I may have had about her to rest. She did a better job than Noomi Rapace and Rapace delivered an incredible performance to begin with. She definitely deserves the academy awards best actress nominee if not the award itself because she carries that movie from start to finish and it was breathtaking to see her do a complete 180 from her earlier roles. She is not playing Lisbeth Salander, but rather, she is Lisbeth Salander.

Despite minor discrepancies from the book's plot, the changes that were made worked if and only if you are not a picky fan that cannot have anything changed at all. I will admit the first half hour is a little slow especially to the general audience but that does not detract from the rest of the movie. Being in a full theater, everyone gasped, clapped, cheered, laughed, and even cried at all the pivotal points of the story. Everyone I have talked to and based on people's reactions in the theater, they all felt attached to Salander which again reinforces my best actress winner.

It is definitely better than the original because David Fincher has amazing creativity skills.

Go watch this movie because it truly is "the feel bad movie of Christmas"

Let's just hit the ground running on this one.

To my knowledge this is the last one of the "trilogy" that Michael Bay has created for the past 4 years. Now this was definitely the best one of the three because it is very dark and the story us pumped up for the "epic" conclusion. The action sequences are fantastic and the 3D really helps drive the entire film. Leonard Nimoy did a Leonard Nimoy job and pulled off a spectacular role.

Now I was told this was "serious" and they removed all the revenge of the fallen jokes. That's a load of shit IGN. The jokes are still there but work at times and don't when the autobots and decepticons are fighting. When a theater is laughing at very dark parts in the story, something is terribly wrong. Maybe it was because of jokes, but the story did not feel as emotional as the trailers and promos were evoking. But this still is the best story of the three.

So I'm pretty sure you have seen the first two and had fun, Right? So go catch Dark of the Moon in 3D, yes 3D is the way to go on this movie. And get comfortable because it a little over two and a half hours. Seriously my ass hasn't been that numb since Avatar and Lord of the Rings.

So after seeing the trailer for Super 8 every time I went to go watch a movie, the Super 8 trailer would show and I got really burnt out of it. But because it is J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg I had to go watch.

It was pretty good. The story was semi-original but was pretty much a Goonies meets Cloverfield film. I believe the kids do a great job and keep you into the nostalgic trip from the start. The action and effects were great, but sometimes over the top.

Now if you are trying to make a two hour monster movie, you are given too much time to anticipate a grand unveiling of the monster. All I have have to say is that it was pretty lame and felt they rushed the end too fast.

Overall it's a great addition to this year's summer movies but not the best.

    • X-Men: First Class Review

On Thursday night I actually pulled the trigger and went to the midnight screening of First Class. And I stand by that decision all the way.

So the movie is a prequel/reboot of the X-Men franchise. I say reboot because it does not follow the previous movies or comics chronologically. Some die hard fans my weep and cry over it, but I say step outside your house for once and go see this film. The story was pretty friggin' awesome and felt intrigued the entire time. Now I love how they decided to take the character driven route instead of Michael Bay explosions every 5 seconds route because they do a fantastic job of making you feel attached to each character by the end. They planted plenty of humor that works every time and makes you feel like your having a fun time.

Aside from all that, the only real problem I had was Beast and Mystique's relationship. It felt cheesy when beast is first introduced but I guess got slightly better by the end.

Overall this easily one of the best comic films I have ever seen and all us geeks and enjoy ourselves once again!

First off, if you didn't enjoy the first one, you will definitely hate this one.

Now the trailers looked ok and i just prayed that they were not going to butcher the franchise, but i was mistaken. This installment is pretty good follow up if you enjoyed the first one. It is great to see all the crew have a small reunion on-screen and this sorta informs you that you are about to laugh your ass off for the next 90 minutes.

Now in my opinion the first is still the better of the two just because you don't know what to expect. This just seems to re-hash at some of the first one's jokes a lot. But that doesn't mean they don't work, it definitely did. To me some jokes came up short which pulls you out a little.

Overall, this sequel was a fantastic follow-up and I highly recommend it to just the Fans of Part I.
      Bring on Part III!

First of all if you do not like the Pirates franchise don't even bother with going to go see this one. I personally am a fan and thought that cutting Kiera Knightley and Orlando Bloom from the franchise was going to end it.

Well I was semi-correct. The movie introduces Penelope Cruz and Ian Mcshane to try and fill those spots. It does and OK job and Penelope Cruz did Good but gets away with her good looks. The plot was your typical Pirates plot, you know find the mystical item and fight over it after.

There was a lot of unnecessary sequences and over the top action(yeah even for a Pirates movie)that really drew me away.

In a nutshell it was OK and it definitely was not the best in the franchise, it actually might be the bottom contender for me

True, which I am more than guilty for doing before. I say you should check it out again when you get a chance. But not when it's in theaters right now, I'd wait till it came out on DVD and watch it at home w/ a few homies.

BTW: Won't be able to watch Scream tomorrow like I thought I would, but when I do I'll get back to you on that one dudester. I do hope you don't mind the comments on your reviews. I don't wanna take anything away from you, I just like talking about movies w/ others who also have a passion for it.

My advice? Get the word out in an honest way. Give input on movie threads - and make each post look like you care. Cause I know that the people you want to read your reviews aren't going to want to follow a link that looks copied/pasted.
