      DustBunny01

This thread is to post your proposed NPCs

There will be general Fort NPCs that can be played by anyone. These NPCs are basic to the running of the Fort and can only be killed by a Founder/Admin for the development of the plot or should a new player desire to take that position.

There will be specific to player NPCs. Founders are entitled to Two and Admins/Senior Players are entitled to One. A player may elect to share his/her NPC with other players in general or limit his/her NPC to specific players.

There will also be special use NPCs, such as raiders or other such types that exist for a brief time in the RP but can be killed at a whim.

Approved NPCs will be posted here.

The purpose of this Saloon is for OOC communication between players. Rather than clog up the RP with a bunch of commentary that has little, to zero, use in the RP, this is the place to go.

Also, while one may be temp banned from the RP, that does not include this thread. If you break the rules and get bounced out, do your bitching about it here where the other players can either ignore your plight or come here and share tea and sympathy...

    • Movie Reviews

in Forums > Movie Reviews | Follow this topic

      DustBunny01

Aspects of survival have been a staple of Hollywood from some decades. Rather than debate the dramatic/thematic elements of various movies, this thread is to look at a movie and obtain information that has relevance to survival in a variety of situations.

      To Start:

      The Road
Viggo Mortensen, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Robert Duvall and Charlize Theron

The main plot takes places some years, perhaps 8 or 9, after the event that brought down civilization. At the time of the movie, the landscape is winter, no animal life and dead trees. A father and son are on the road, traveling to the South and to the ocean. The wife/mother is not an issue. What is left of civilization is divided into two camps: The Cannibal bands and the walkers on the road.

The first issue is that the father/son left departing from their home base far too long. They were on the road with minimum supplies, little to no food and only two bullets for their pistol. They traveled along the road and mostly camped on the road. It is on the road that they had problems with the cannibal bands.

While traveling, they investigated abandoned buildings/homes in an effort to replenish supplies and locate food. Upon entering a home that clearly showed signs of habitation, the father conducted a search of a basement only to discover a Cannibal larder and – of course – the cannibals returned to add another plot complication. Escaping, the eventually searched another home and discovered a bomb shelter loaded with food and supplies. After a brief stay, and fearing discovery, they fled with what supplies they could carry.

The second issue is fear of other walkers. No attempt is made to expand their band when they encounter an old man on the road and no serious attempt to discover any useful intelligence from the other walker. It is survival of not the fittest but the most paranoid. A thief is caught, stripped naked and abandoned to freeze to death. An encounter with a archery sniper results in a fluky death of the sniper, wounding of the father and simply leaving the spouse with the bow and arrows.

The father finally succumbs to ill health and his wound. The boy survives to join a family that was following the father/son. Again, bringing up the issue of fear of other walkers.

The reason is obvious, he wanted to taint anyone who voted against his return.

      1. Go fuck yourself you suspicious ass hole

      2. I did not do that to "taint" anyone's opinion I did that because from my perspective it's funny

      3. If you feel strongly enough about me not coming back you can PM me. I will listen, it's you're thread after all.

    • ChrisGunny

Yeah we do. I just posted a journal which puts what I got right, wrong, or has yet to be determined in my theory in their proper categories. I'll update it as new information comes in.

    • ChrisGunny

Problem with that is that Tex and Omega became allies at the end of BGC. They are not going to fight each other. At least not yet.

    • ChrisGunny

That's why I still have hope for her. Some things don't add up. Seems like Sheila, Gamma, the Kid, and Tex/Omega got captured by the blues. Then Omega started killing all of them. Sheila, the Kid, Gamma, and possibly Tex might have left after Omega killed off their captors, and Omega stayed behind to kill all possible evidence, eventually getting caught by Meta. Problem is, why would Omega leave Tex after trying so hard and long to get her again?

    • ChrisGunny

Looks like you were right about Meta, I was right about Wash, the relationship between the committee and freelancer, and we were both right. I was wrong about Tex, but I still have hope!

    • BloodySparow

well then again, it depends on hold strong the person holds to their job as an officer of the law. Some will run or go bonkers...just like every single Emergency service and military service has to deal with in times of war or crisis.

I just wanted to clarify what your definition of jail was, that is all.

    • mindless

now when you say jail, do you mean police station or do you mean prison?

The Reconstruction thread message that we're posting on every page is slowly getting longer and longer as I realize that people are still ignoring it.

Normally, I'm all for giving power to the people, but in this case, I think there needs to be an entrance exam for people posting in that thread...
