    • The happiest moment of my life.

I'm out at Lindsay's and we just got back from a concert. And by concert, I mean a live symphony. Despite the fact that the show was totally sold out, we somehow managed to get FRONT AND CENTER ROW SEATS to see Distant Worlds: The Music of Final Fantasy. I mean....seriously, I'm out of luck for the rest of my life. Final Fantasy has been an integral part of my gaming life, from the very first game to the most recent. They played the main Final Fantasy theme, they played the chocobo song. There was so much! Like any other nerd who grew up in the era that Final Fantasy VII was the biggest thing in gaming, I got all choked up and close to shedding tears when they played Aerith's Theme. Live symphony versions of emotionally charged music have a way of sneaking up on you sideways. And I ended up actually shedding tears of joy when they ended the show with a loud, full chorus version of One Winged Angel. Dear God. That is something I wish everyone could experience, at least once. And to top it all off, the legendary composer of all the music from the very opening theme of the first song, to the close of Final Fantasy XI, Nobuo Uematsu was THREE FEET AWAY FROM ME. Ahhh......This is easily one of the best nights of my entire life. I wish I could have shared the excitement with you all, even if it's not your thing. I haven't been this happy in a long time.

      Supervillain - Powerman 500

      You're dressin all in black
From your front to your back
      And all your evil ways
They seem to go on for days
And as a matter of fact
You got one more night before ya

Smash it up, burn it down
      Tearing up the underground
You wanna live like a super villain
      Back in the line up
      Before your times up
You wanna live like a super villain

      There's nowhere to go
      There's nowhere to go

No one is savin this town
Fuck all those pricks and those clowns
      I know you'd rather abuse
      Condemn or slightly confuse
Kick 'em all when their down
And just for fun you're gonna

Smash it up, burn it down
      Tearing up the underground
You wanna live like a super villain
      Back in the line up
      Before your times up
You wanna live like a super villain

      There's nowhere to go
      There's nowhere to go
      There's nowhere to go

There's nowhere to go when your on your own, you don't care about what's wrong or what is right.

Alright, alright you've been knockin down these doors, you've been filling up this room. You're been runnin round the place like your name was Dr. Doom. You're a killer of culture, a vulture of style, and it won't be that long before you end up on trial.

Smash it up, burn it down
      Tearing up the underground
You wanna live like a super villain
      Back in the line up
      Before your times up
You wanna live like a super villain
      Like a super villain
      Like a super villain
      Yeah
      Like a super villain

      There's nowhere to go

      Like a super villain

      There's nowhere to go

      Like a super villain

Me and Pillsbury sat down to a long night of social slayer with a friend of ours and uh...we pretty much rocked it. my personal best for the night was a +21 kill to death spread (23 kills, two deaths), 4 sprees, 2 splatters and a couple other medals all on Rat's Nest. We played a bunch of construct too and i went from 0-64 incinerations in one night. Amazing. So allaround good times. tomorrow...thanksgiving. which probably won't mean too much around here. my family isn't going anywhere and everyone's working, except me and ellen. i'm looking for work and she's....i dunno. sitting around doing nothing i guess. over the weekend we'll get around to celebrating though. if there are any amazingly bad spelling errors that don't look like me, it's because it is 6.34 as i type this and i'm about to crash out.

      gnight.

    • that's not good.

i just found out that one of my friends that i haven't seen in a while is now lying comatose in come hospital or another. apparently this is thanks to quite the car crash. so i'd appreciate it if you'd keep in in your thoughts. i'm planning on finding out where and drp[[ing by to visit for a few minutes. although it will be a little strange dropping in to see someone who doesn't know you're there...not to mention a little depressing.

anyway, to lighten everyone else's mood:

I went over to my friend Luke's house yesterday and ended up snagging a couple roms so i could play the Golden Sun games on my psp....i forgot how much i was addicted to those games. The roms run like the got the framerate and sound syncing WAY off, but i still play it like a junkie getting his first snort of crack in a month. so that's the old.

The first bit of new I have is while I was at Luke's i also snagged some of his music, namely a couple Anberlin albums, one by Jack's Mannequin as well as a few singles, one by Search The City, one by Play It Loud, the ep that Bo Burnham released, as well as a few more and one song by a band called Parade The Day that was pretty good, as well ass another song.

A hardcore verion of Never Gonna Give You Up. It might be the funniest thing i've heard in about a million years. I can now give someone a metal rickroll. I can't wait ^_^

If you've stayed interested enough to read this far, then the last bit of new is that i spent last night in far more productive (i hope) activity than sleep. I spent the night writing up a new world (only partly done) and people for it....yup. I've started yet ANOTHER book. I'm taking a totally different approach with how i'm writing this one and i'm hoping it'll carry all the way through this time instead of just stopping cold around chapter 5. come day i'll finish all my old projects...or finally relegate them to a scrap bin. i can't do either of those things for any underway projects right now, but i'm kind of excited for how this one could turn out. i haven't really got much down except a very specific and very few pieces of the world i wanted to craft to my own flavor of bizarrety. I think the only thing close to done is the Clocktower. I'm a little proud of how extravagantly messed up it is ^_^

      Anyway, that's what's up lately.

Me and Pillsbury picked up Gears of War 2 at the release last night and it was amazing. We decided to skip the preliminaries and go straight to the hardest difficulty, but Insane wasn't available, so we played Hardcore. The game was obscenely long compared to the first. We started at 1am ish and it's now half past noon the next day and we've JUST beaten it. There are a ton of acheivements and included is a kill with every weapon, x number of kills with a certain weapon and so on. Needless to say, after 11 hours of nothing but gaming, I'm pretty tired and my eyes hurt. BUT IT WAS SOOOO WORTH IT. I can not state how awesome the game was. You need to go play it yourself. Also, this one managed to have a far more involved story and pushes a couple of fairly emotional scenes...very interesting. All this to say, if you have the opportunity, play this game. Also, it was something of a personal acheivement to actually finish it all in one sitting the day it came out. woot for us ^_^

Oh, we also saw a really lame movie. The Haunting of Molly someone or other. It's a good time if you're looking for either a shitty movie or one to laugh at.

    • Federal Reserve Skateboard: Short Story

      Echo217

Damn these subprime lenders, thought Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, barely keeping his balance on the wobbling skateboard. We can’t afford more debt. He snapped a grappling-hook-tipped quarrel into his crossbow as the skateboard slowed. When the country owes trillions and is asking for more, its shadowy creditors start calling in favors.

The crossbow twanged, carrying his climbing rope up the side of the Federal Reserve building. As he began his ascent, he reflected on the years past. I inherited a broken system, he insisted to himself. We’re simply doing what’s required to prevent a catastrophe. It’s not my fault.

He tossed his skateboard over the parapet and hauled himself over. He dropped six feet to the roof, landed heavily on the board, and trundled on into the night.

      â€'â€'-

From her perch in a tree across the street, the blogger watched through her blogoscope as Bernanke disappeared over the wall. She spoke quietly into her radio: “Subject is in the haybarn. The chickens are in danger of roosting.â€Â

“Roger that,†came the reply. “Deploying Agent Harpsichord.â€Â

      â€'â€'-

Inside, Bernanke moved along the wall like a shadow, elongating and contracting as the light sources shifted around him. In the midst of a sea of filing cabinets, he froze. He sniffed the air, then dropped to his knees, licked the floor, and paused. Yes, he thought, Greenspan was definitely here.

      â€'â€'-

The blogger had waited five minutes and was starting to get impatient. She picked up the radio. “Situation imminent. Pass the ducklings through the snorkel. Repeat: Pass the ducklings through the snorkel.â€Â

“We are go for mode Sinatra,†replied the commander. “Reticulate core and set throttle to ‘cryptic’. Prepare to jitterbug.â€Â

      â€'â€'-

Bernanke forced the door on yet another inner office, realizing too late that the light was on inside. The chair in the corner swiveled around, and Bernanke found himself face-to-face with Alan Greenspan. There was silence for a moment.

“You won’t get away with this,†said Greenspan, rising to his feet. “The Fed is subject to general congressional oversight. But you never understood that, did you?â€Â

“Congress sold out the country, not me,†replied Bernanke. “Don’t shoot the messenger.â€Â

“I wasn’t planning to,†said Greenspan. He flicked open a switchblade.

      â€'â€'-

The blogger peered once more into the eyepiece of her blogoscope. She threw the switch labeled “overlay building schematics.†The external view of the building disappeared, but instead of blueprints, she was presented with a green puzzle piece. “This view requires the Adobe Flash Player plug-in. Do you want to search for this plug-in now?â€Â

      Shit, she thought.

      â€'â€'-

Bernanke, trying not to slip in the patches of blood on the floor, struggled with Greenspan. The older man moved like a snake that moved like a former Fed Chairman who moved like a ninja. At last, Bernanke got a solid grip on Greenspan’s collar and hurled him through the fourth wall, knocking you to the ground.

Improvising a tourniquet from the remains of the snake left over from the earlier simile, Bernanke moved on through the hallways.

      â€'â€'-

The moonlight-bathed roof of the Federal Reserve building fell suddenly into shadow. A pair of night watchman looked up in alarm to see what had occluded the sky.

“Is that …†one whispered to the other, “… is that a blimp?â€Â

      â€'â€'-

Bernanke reached the central vaults, accessed the Gibson mainframe, and began transmitting the requested files to his distant masters. He didn’t hear the gentle thud on the rooftop, the muffled explosive charges, or the sound of the door opening behind him. But at the last minute some sixth sense kicked in. He spun around just in time to see a golf-ball-sized lump of gold rapidly expanding in his vision. It struck him in the forehead, and he collapsed to the ground like a burlap sack full of scrapple.

Congressman Ron Paul retrieved the gold nugget from the floor and returned it to his satchel. “Try that,†he said, donning his sunglasses, “with a fiat currency.†He spun on his heel, cape swirling behind him, and swept from the room.

see, the whole problem with camouflage is we don't have the halo-esque technology to make you almost completely invisible. otherwise i'd say go for it. somehow i think he'd see you sitting on the couch in a full camo suit. though if he really understands subtleties, that might work. but since he's a male, the chances of his understanding subtle hints is slim to none. i'm not so great with them myself.

Hey man, things are alright. I'm kind of chillin, it's my senior year if high school and all so I'm learning the fine art of balancing plenty of fun with enough work to pass. Of course, I still have to deal with some day-to-day bullshit at the same time as doing what parents like to call, "preparing for the future," which is code for go plan out your descent into boredom, unhealthy lifestyles, and general pointlessness... Other than that things are on the up.

umm...i actually came to that conclusion today in response to one of susan's comments.

i did manage to narrow it down though...i'm not so much a good shot per say, as more of a good hunter via the use of my rifle. i don't know if i actually AM a good shot, or if i'm just charmed to hit what i'm aiming at where i need to hit while hunting whether i'm trying to or not.

...i mean, yeah, two deer with one shot is kind of a fluke, but the one i was aiming at dropped like a stone.
