Ah! It is so refreshing to be back on the internet! My internet was down for over two weeks, but now I am re-connected again! Yes, yes, yes!

Sorry to all of you who have missed me.

I'll give you the highlights of the past two weeks later.

right now, I'm just enjoying the re-surging of addiction.

Jesus...it's been one hell of a week.

Friday: Meghan and I attended the military ball and had quite a bit of fun. Although I didn't exactly know how to dance, I at least tried. Before the dance, we met up with some friends of mine at Ruby Tuesday. I borrowed my friend Jason's car for the event, since I still do not have one. Funny thing is, his gas gauge is broken, so there is no way to tell how much gas is in the car. He said that I should be fine driving from my house to hers, to the restaurant, to downtown [where the dance was held], and back. We ran out of gas coming back. Luckily, he had a gas can in the back seat with some gas in it. I ran out of gas a second time after taking her home- on the way to my house. I finally got home at 2 AM.

Tuesday- Meghan and I went to see Horton Hears A Who. This movie is fantastic. Before the movie, we walked around the mall and ate Chinese.

Thursday- I went over to Meghan's house for dinner. We had spaghetti, garlic bread, and salad. All quite good. She, her parents, and I played a game of Uno that lasted for over an hour and a half, and after that, she and I watched Children of Men.

Friday [yesterday]- After classes, PT, and work, I went to the store and bought this:

      51wxj9gllaa280ad4.jpg

It's good to feel like a kid again. After I got home from the store, my friend Allen came over. We hooked each other up with massive amounts of music from each other's Zune [plugged into the computer- not sent over wi-fi].

I loaned him volume 1 of Lone Wolf and Cub, the first and second volumes of Samurai Executioner, Batman: The Long Halloween, Afro Samurai, and American Gangster. He loaned me No Country For Old Men [which I am now watching], Morning View by Incubus, and All Points Bulletin by Dispatch.

It's quite a handful being busy these days, but it beats being bored.

I've been working at my job for the past year and a half without receiving much appreciation from my employers at all. In fact, I had been earning the same wages since my starting there.

After I got back from lunch yesterday and punched back in to work, I was called to the front office by the store director. He proceeded to inform me that someone in the dairy department had quit the week before, and they needed someone reliable who had been at the store for a considerable amount of time and with enough experience to do the job. So he offered it to me, and I took it.

The department requires a considerable amount of upkeep and work, but in return, I get better and more hours weekly, and there is also an implied pay increase [since I did not receive my obligatory yearly raise or my department raise for when I started working in produce department].

So I started a new department mid-way through my shift. I like it so far, but let's hope that I continue liking it.

It's been one hell of a week. PT day in ROTC, plus working 5 days straight at work, among other things- killed me. I could barely move yesterday. Thank God for pain killers and muscle relaxants.

But life is going well. I'm the happiest that I've ever been. I'm in a deep, fulfilling relationship with someone that I love and I'm finally getting the recognition that I deserve at work. It just keeps getting better and better.

Anyway, it's my day off, so I'm relaxing at home- not going anywhere. It's a welcome change for once.

Considering my penchant for writing daily journals, it's a rather awkward occurrence that I have cut back to, more or less, about one journal a week.

This week has been quite busy- with classes and work and spending more time with my girlfriend- I've prioritized a bit in my life to optimize and center my time around the 3 things that matter [class, work, and my relationship].

I love being a part of the internet- it's integral to my life, but I'm having second thoughts about paying $40 a month for "extreme gaming speed" internet. Sure, it's handy, but wouldn't internet be internet at $20 a month for standard DSL? Yes. I barely download videos, I download music sometimes- but not much of it. I'm more into buying the albums of the musical artists/groups that I like from the store- that way I have a hard copy. I'm probably one of the only people who still go out and buys cds. Besides, I have more than enough music to listen to for quite some time.

Meh. I don't know what's been going on lately. I'm apathetic about most things that I was quite passionate about less than a year ago or so. My Xbox has turned into, more or less, a $400 dvd player. I still haven't replaced the AV cables. I'll get around to it eventually. Right now, real life bills [aka- phone bill, internet bill, food, etc.] and the girlfriend are consuming my resources. It's economics, and like I said=- I have to prioritize. Going out places with her is more important to me than sitting at home, playing a game.

Yeah- I'm excited about Gears of War 2 being released this fall. However, it's not enough to warrant my purchasing a new subscription of Xbox Live. My account subscription runs out next month. I can't say that I will miss XBL desperately, because I just don't care one way or the other about it anymore.

Yes- I'm still playing videogames. My girlfriend plans on coming over after she gets off of work on Sunday to finish watching the Shining, eat pizza, and play me in Super Mario All Stars. She claims that she will win. I have no intention of letting her do so. Right now, the Super Nintendo holds more for me than the Xbox does. It's something that we both want to play together, and that's great with me.

My life is going exactly how I have been wanting it to go for quite a long time- NO PROBLEMS. And that's something that I am very much ok with.

    • Some Thoughts...

      Elite17

Coke vs. Pepsi is irrelevant. Dr. Pepper has always dominated.

Vault marketing campaign would probably work better if the beverage tasted better.

I didn't set a good tone with my first two thoughts. Someone is going to get the wrong idea and think I care a lot about soda.

Purple Rain rocked. A lot of people call this movie gay. I could argue how it's not gay at all and about how much it rocks, but fuck you.

I enjoy myself quite often. I just have trouble enjoying others.

Raining on my parade would be anti-climactic. I hate parades so much I wouldn't go to my own.

I'm probably a rebel. Can't tell though. Too busy not paying attention to what other people do.

I think I'm developing a love for musicals. This worries me.

I only give myself lots of praise to draw attention away from the fact that I'm not very good at anything.

It bothers me that I'd understand Mexican immigrants better if they just spoke Spanish.

Occasionally, I would just like to die.

That's a lie. Dying sounds very unfun. Just sometimes I would like to not be alive anymore.

You guys remember V? ...Didn't think so.

Roadhouse is confusing. Not in plot or theory. Just the fact that I don't really believe in the film. But I know it's there. Kind of like how I feel about biological cells.

I act overly-confident to hide the fact that I'm always confused.

Man, I really love that Chunky soup. Let me take a few seconds to explain why. Firstly, it doesn't suck.

Vincent Price was kind of like the first action star. He's pretty scary.

I have a growing fear of public buildings. Something about commercial tile and cinder block walls. There's no joke here. I'm pretty bothered by these things.

I hate it when people talk about sci-fi movie plots like they're possible scenarios. That shit just bugs me. I know what you're thinking, "Dan, you think Terminator is a plausible futuristic society." It's this kind of "logic" that's going to get you enslaved or vaporized when the Robotic Apocalypse comes. Keep it up stupid.

Sneezing is weird. Feels good though. Sometimes I try to get sick just to sneeze more.

I used to hate stupid people. But I realize now that I need people to pick up my garbage and give me speeding tickets.

ZZ Top lied. I constantly see girls with poorly dressed boys but I go to Chik-Fil-A in a tux (making me a sharp dressed man), and I'm just "weird".

A lot of people think I'm pretty cool. I can see where they'd make that mistake. However, I know me. I mean, I think I'm cool, and I think a lot of people just take my word for it. But my idea of cool is owning a lot of action movies and quoting Die Hard at inappropriate times. You probably shouldn't believe me when I yell about how awesome I am.

If this guitar I'm playing around with was also a gun, that would be so much cooler.

I miss ballpits. And not for gay reasons.

I think the concept of Lesbians is far removed from the reality of Lesbians. Stupid, lying porn.

I like playing Final Fantasy games. But I don't want to have a conversation about them. Okay?

Why is sex looked down on more than violence in films? If I go have sex right now, that's pretty normal (just not regular), but if I go rip a man limb from limb, that's somehow frowned on. But that's not what movies are teaching me, and they're my only real education.

What happened to cartoon movies? Think about that.

Now, in closing, I want you to think about the music you listen to. Ask yourself this question: "Could I make this music with my face and a laptop?" If the answer is yes, quit listening to it.

I went to see There Will Be Blood with a girl that I am currently seeing today. The movie was fucking incredible, and things are going well between the both of us. It looks like it's heading into serious relationship territory. I hope so.

      therewillbebloodks4.jpg

The film received significant critical praise and numerous award nominations and wins. In addition to appearing on many critics' "top ten" lists for the year, critics' associations â€" such as the National Society of Film Critics, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and the Austin Film Critics Association â€" recognized There Will Be Blood with awards for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor. Daniel Day-Lewis received many awards including a Golden Globe for his performance, and it has been nominated for numerous Academy Awards and BAFTA awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay.

If you haven't seen this film, you need to drop everything that you're doing and go see it. It's fantastic.

I also bought a couple of films today that would be considered classics.

      theshiningbp7.jpgcoffee20and20cigarettescd0.jpg

This is the best part of coffee and cigarettes. This film could be compared to Clerks- it's witty, adult, entertaining, and in black and white.

I am also reading the King's novel of The Shining.

      theshiningqq0hm9.jpg

I think that I'm more and more becoming a hardcore fan of him with everything that I read/see of his. I was already a fan, but now I'm really getting into what he does.

    • National Security?

      Elite17

If you live in America, then you are familiar with, or have at least heard of the National Security Agency [NSA]

      600pxnationalsecurityagqg5.png

The National Security Agency/Central Security Service (NSA/CSS) is the United States government's cryptologic intelligence agency, administered under the U.S. Department of Defense. Created on November 4, 1952, it is responsible for the collection and analysis of foreign communications and foreign signals intelligence, which involves a significant amount of cryptanalysis. It is also responsible for protecting U.S. government communications and information systems from similar agencies elsewhere, which involves a significant amount of cryptography.
By law, the NSA's intelligence gathering is limited to foreign communications; surveillance within the U.S. is prohibited (except for communication with foreign agents) and is conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

This is an extremely seriously minded organization, dedicated to the protection of United States citizens and the safeguarding of classified intelligence relevant to national security, much like the CIA.

With this in mind- WHAT THE FUCK!?

    • Situational irony

      Elite17
Definition: irony of a situation is a discrepancy between the expected result and actual results when enlivened by 'perverse appropriateness'.

EXAMPLE: WHEN YOU KEEP GETTING CALLS FROM SUPPORTERS OF HILARY CLINTON ASKING FOR YOUR SUPPORT, WHEN IN FACT, IF THOSE PEOPLE KNEW YOU, THEY WOULD BE AWARE THAT YOU THOROUGHLY LOATHE THE BITCH.

This is the 4th day in a row that I've gotten calls from local supporters, local politicians, etc.- supporting Hilary Clinton & soliciting me for possible support as well.

I always try to pick two candidates- one on the Republican side, one on the Democrat side- to support. I'll end up voting for whoever gets the primary. If they both get it, then I'll decide based upon which issues they plan to tackle that are relevant to me.

      I support these two men:

      220pxjohnmccainofficialfy2.jpg160pxobamabarackjs4.jpg

But not Hilary Clinton. She claims that she is qualified for the Presidency because she has been in the white house before as first lady. Her claiming experience in the white house is like saying that you know how to drive a bus, because you've ridden on one before.

dude 2: no, it was obviously the terminator with its time traveling technology.
      dude 1: what the hell...
dude 3: well, if you think about it, the terminator makes more sense than you
dude 1: wanna know who the terminator was, it was me
dude 2: shoots dude 1 I disagree, I see bones
dude 4: what the fuck are you all smoking, give me some!

I'm gonna somehow work that into the script, that is one of the most random and funniest events I've ever been in.
