My experience with PAX South was good, but started with an footnote. My good friend Cori (not on here, but a great gamer, podcaster, and all around awesome person) was going to fly down to stay with me while we went to pax, she had to get a root canal two days before the event, so she couldnt make it. She was nice enough to express me the passes and I was able to go solo.
Day 1 - get down there and meet up with my buddy @Dojidan, walk around the con, kinda get a scope for things, its bigger than I expected, lots of great indy devs, and a few MASSIVE booths with some big names. while walking to line up I crossed paths with Guud from minecrack. Get in line for the RT panel and ran into @DarkBowler (always good to see him) The panel was awesome, the screw attack guys seem to be blending in well with the comedy styling of the funhaus and RT folks. The FunHaus team was @mattpeake @JoelRubin and RT were @Jordan and @bgibbles great peeks at some upcoming stuff, and as always, some really awkward questions. That evening we went out drinking, all over the downtown, and ended up at a little german beer garden that was nice, we then went to the twitch afterparty and enjoyed the shitshow, briefly ran into @john (always a welcomed surprise, since he's a pretty good dude). after a couple of hurricanes I walked back to my car, and converted it into a camper aka blew up a inflatable mattress, climbed in the back, and took it the cool evening.
Day 2 - I woke up to the sunrise coming in through my car window, with a powerful urge to pee, i climbed out my car, and took in the sun rise whist peeing off a 9 story building (if you've never done it, i highly recommend trying it). After some coffee, we made it back to the showroom floor, I got my hands on some great games, but missed being able to play some of the bigger titles like Dreadnought or Street fighter 5. I got to briefly run into @Newbs and @MrArcys as well, Always good to see them as well. I was feeling beat to shit, to we packed up around 4 and drove back to Austin, all and all, i had a great time, didn't spend tooooo much money, and got to meet some great people, make some great connections, ect ect, you get it. I had fun.
I need to remember to wear more comfortable shoes though.
