cleaning this thing up a bit, because it's kind of a mess with people that no longer exist here and all that jazz.

It's weird, I realised the other day that this journal was the closest thing I'd ever had to a proper blog or diary. Like, ever. Sure I had the quintessential pre-teen diary that read like some bad teen drama complete with 'no one gets me!'.
But I put my lack of enthusiasm in that down to realising how stupid those entries sounded early on.
As it is, I'll probably be frequenting RT more often again.

      Holy crap I know right?

      Yes, I died.

Yes, I'm resurrected, but put those zombie fears to rest. I'm a lich, clearly. The zombies are just my minions.

In other news : holy crap school and work is kicking my ass.

      Oh, hi there.

Uh... I've been busy. With school and the like. Last semester I averaged 4 hours of sleep /night.
I don't know how I survived that, honestly.
Anyhow, fancy new site. I'll probably poke around a bit, see who's still here.

So sorry for another bitching journal but seriously: I caught a cold right after I got over strep. Thanks body I love you too. Stupid stitches and colds.

In better, more awesome news: Diablo 3. ho shit son! I need to catch up on all my video games so i'll be free to play when it comes out.

So apparently my body does thing thing where it gets sick at the same time two years running. Anyone at last year's RvBTO whom i met may have noticed I wasn't really talkative. That's because I had just come down with mono while in toronto.

THIS YEAR apparently my body thinks its cool to get strep throat. Ugh, I remember wanting to get my tonsils out just so they wouldn't hurt as much, this year I think I concur with my previous sentiments. If it wouldn't hurt so much i'd punch those tonsils for being so painful.

So yes: in a nutshell: no RvBTO, no working. Boo... smiley4.gif

      Hi everyone.

I'm now sitting in the hostel as I type since they have an internet cafe too. It's really nice for a hostel, so far I'm the only one that snores in my room (hehehe....) and they play music videos or shows or movies on a screen in the common room where they have a pool table and couches and stuff. You can also buy beer here, so di've been keeping up on the at-least-one-tea-one-beer-a-day routine I started on the first day.

Today was full of walking, I started out at about 9:30, after eating breakfast and cleaning up a bit. My hostel is just south of the Thames, a couple blocks down in the Lambeth area. So I saw big ben yesterday after checking in while hunting down food. I ended up at a place that had signed vinyls from led zepplin and stuff. Too bad the sandwiches weren't that great. Anyhow back to today, I went back down to the thames, over the bridge and walked along the thames, to see parliment and westminster abbey. The outside that is since there was a massive line to get in, and i didn't feel like paying.

After more wandering around the fancy buildings I found James and Green Parks. They were filled with birds and crows and stuff. It was really pretty. From there I saw buckingham palace, which turned out to have a marching band go by so I lucked out there. From there I went to Hyde park, which is HUUUUUGE.

Once there though the lady told me it was closing in an hour and I would really need 2-3 to see everything, so i'll probably go back tomorrow instead. While wandering around there, I saw the London bridge, that big ship thing and picked up a pamphlet about a jack the ripper tour. I then wasted time with ice cream and food and beer until the tour started, though I missed the beginning because I was in the pub... But the guy was really nice, he let me pay the a dollar cheaper since i missed the very start. On the tour I ran into a bunch of Canadians, all just graduated from York on a tour to celebrate and it was fun to chat with them about home. Which I'm starting to miss, mostly the friends and all.

Tomorrow I'm planning to see the British Museum, the Tower, and maybe the London Zoo. I imagine I'm going to sleep really well tonight and tomorrow night.

Love to all and hope everything is going well with you guys.

We are good. I just started classes again so my life now belongs to the theatre again for the next 4 months. Beyond that it's pretty much same old.

Yeah...that's the shitty thing about undergraduate school...you don't usually get much. I got a pretty sweet deal in mine but not nearly as good as what I'm getting now.

6_wink.gif Ahhhh the joys of being a graduate student. Not every university does this but quite a few do.

Every year I sign a contract with the school for an assistantship. As part of my assistantship the school pays me a wage (around $8000-9000 for 9 months) which I have to work a specific job for and a certain number of hours. This last year I was Technical Director for the Department of Dance. This year I'll be working 240 hours/semester in the Scene Shop as a carpenter. My third year I'll probably be teaching.

As part of my assistantship they waive my tuition and nearly all of my fees. I think I figured out that by the time I leave there's around $90,000 I won't have to pay for because of this...and they're still giving me money on top of that. It's a pretty sweet deal! The money they pay is really just to cover living expenses. They know it's not realistic to work another job off campus in grad school so they have to provide some sort of compensation if they want their students to be able to eat.

School just doesn't pay me enough to budget a trip like that. I could probably save enough if I stopped spending it on stuff I probably don't need.

Boooo no fun (except for your Mother)! If I had the time and money I'd love to go....but sadly I seem to lack that every year and next summer probably isn't looking any better. Don't have any plans yet but more than likely I'll be working.

Good to hear! Does that mean you'll make it to RvBTO then?

We're both good. So far we're staying healthy, though allergies act up from time to time depending on the weather. Tomorrow I'm starting what I hope to be a healthier regimen by taking a swim with one of my friends. I'd like to do that a couple times a week.
