Simply stating the point. The tragic events which shook the Tucson Safeway January the eight were a needless waste of precious life. Considerable questions are warranted not just for the state of guns laws in this country or the potential for the snowballing of political discourse, yet the back-stories and insights that don't come readily or intentionally to the forefront of mass media. I am particularly struck by this story as Federal Judge John McCarthy Roll was a close family friend to my mom and her family. In the course of unraveling information, the hard news we hear from family is disconcerting. Major news outlets and officials are rushing for answers, yet people need to take a careful look at all of the angles.

In information detailed by AZCentral, "The killing of U.S. District Judge John M. Roll comes two years after he received death threats while he presided over a $32 million civil-rights lawsuit filed by illegal immigrants against an Arizona rancher. When Roll ruled the case could go forward, U.S. Marshal David Gonzales said in 2009 that talk-radio shows cranked up the controversy and spurred audiences into making threats. In one afternoon, Roll logged more than 200 phone calls. Callers threatened the judge and his family. They posted personal information about Roll online."

My initial questions are, who was the 50 year white male allegedly connected to the shooter? Was it someone working with the rancher? Could it possibly be someone with an interest in immigration matters who singled out a Chief Federal Judge that had potential to get matters moving? I am interested for any input on how you see these limited details. I'm just curious that if beyond the surface this might be case of revenge or something more sinister.

Here are several projects I've worked on over the past while.

My senior portrait for the yearbook.

      lukesseniorphotosave5-Copy.jpg
I don't know of anyone who's done something like this before, and it saved me a bunch of money.
Of course, it was challenge making this. I didn't use a photo referrence, but instead I worked from looking at a mirrior. A reason for that is I needed a couple observational drawings to count toward an art class and this became one.

Old Glory, art for a veterans day event at our school
      OldglorybyLukeLarabee.jpg

Promotional Poster for my school's fall play, The Hunchback of Notre Dame

      HunchbackUploadSmall.jpg
The biggest project I've taken on to date. The main reason for that is I drew in each of the cast members performing, which included myself, as I was a co-narrator in the play.

      Thanks for viewing. smiley0.gif

    • The Depth of Beauty

Wrapped up in other things I haven't been able to find a lot of time to get on.
I'm on the tail end of exams, but I can at least show you all one thing I've made lately.

A project as part of my Art class exam.

      Titled--DepthofBeautyfromMixedMedia.jpg

This is a mixed media watercolor titled the Depth of Beauty.
I wanted to see if it was possible to use 3 basic colors to create an illusion of depth & space in a picture.
One more thing. Not many people see this unless I say something. In an abstract way, the flowers form the corners of the continent of Africa.

I'll probably be working more to refine this style a little more. Any suggestions?

      More art tomorrow. smiley0.gif

First day of my senior year was awesome, but I was pushing it through the day and some extra activities on three hours of steam. (I just had trouble sleeping). So I'm going to try to hit the sack early tonight.

It's funny...my Dad said to me when we were just joking around, "Get some good rest, suffrage starts tomorrow." I'm turning 18 years old tomorrow! LOL! smiley0.gif

      Drew Struzan...

I have seen his work everywhere, and you probably have too. Yet, I never connected all of these artworks and more to a single person. It's amazing what he's accomplished, and he's propbably my new favorite artist.

Here's a link to his official page. It's a must see!

I did some practice today with painting chrome on a suit of female Spartan armor. The lovely lady wearing the suit is none other than ChurchesWife. I’m going to be working more with metals in the future, but the biggest challenge ahead of me is trying to figure out how to paint more photorealistic.

Greetings, fellow Mafia player! You may remember me from such spam events as "drag all the recent players back to the game" and "make everyone vote." Today, I'm spamming your profile looking for help. The Mafia Group is attempting to collate story posts and user posts from a lot of previous rounds and make a hilarious book to fund a convention. This short story anthology with a proper introduction to the game will need a lot more helpers than it currently has and it would be really nice to have you on board. We're only looking for about 6 hours a week.

At the very least, if you can't spare any time to help, you could at least give us official permission to use your name and postings in the book, for which we'll send you a free copy on the release date.

Well, I've been kinda busy with trying to get some stuff sold on ebay for my client, but she's terrible about getting back to me on stuff so I've had some free time this last few days -- been sims2ing, seem to have a bit of creative block drawing wise, but I'm sure once I get stuck in I'll get the knack back.

      How have you been?

Thanks mate! I learnt it in something around two months... But I've been playing it since 2007, so that means I've played it like a thousand times, since I practice it a lot of times almost every day.

I'm really glad you like it!

Exactly! I loved doing contests, and so much of that particular bit of Rooster Teeth culture is gone now. It also made drawing people more worthwhile because I gained influence doing it. I've gone virtually unnoticed on the forums due to the more professional finishes on other artists.

It's from a poster for a band called the White Tie Affair that played at Warped Tour. That's a picture of the actual poster, and I drew a redux but gave it to the girl I went with before I ever got a picture.

    • DocRossim

      Yup.
I usually sketch, then re-adjust it by skewing it and changing the perspective and stuff, then flip it in all four directions to check it looks right both ways, then "ink" over it with another layer.

And then it still doesn't look right.
So I've taken to sketching, scanning and "inking" on computer.

    • DocRossim

Interestingly, I usually do do that with my meals. I'm wondering why bananas are bad though, I thought they were meant to be full of nutrients and fibre, and potassium especially, which is very important for keeping your energy up. *shrug* Thanks for the tips, seems I just need to keep doing that and to cut down on the sweet stuff outside of meals.
