So, this new site looks pretty, and I'm excited for what the future holds. However, it's definitely not for me right now. Things are just a bit too rough around the edges on the community side.
It seems like a ton of work was put into the video side of things, which is awesome and totally justified for a production company like RT which has "Comedy" as their first tenet. It's really awesome that the new video player seems to work far and wide on everything from Internet Explorer to Chrome to the new Edge browser in Windows 10. But quite frankly, videos aren't why I'm here.
I'm here for the community. You know, that third tenet up there alongside "Comedy" and "Gaming". Core community things like the forums, groups, and events are really rough right now. For instance, I can't even GET to the forums. I can't edit the community event for RTSQ Presents: Community content, and I'm too afraid of breaking something to start creating new events for the rest of the RTSQ events happening at RTX.
I know this sounds like I'm shitting on the hard work that went into this site, but I'm really not. I'm a tech guy. I've talked to Adam about the difficulties he's faced in building a new site. I know the insane amount of effort that has to go into doing something like this. Much respect.
So if I'm not just being a debbie downer and shitting all over the new site, what am I doing? Well, I'm pretty much saying that you won't see me here very much until things clear up. Maybe it'll just be a week? Maybe it won't be until after RTX? I don't know. I'll pop in to check messages and such I suppose, but until things are smooth your best bet to get in touch with me is Twitter.
