After 9 years of life together, Michelle finally made an honest man out of me and married me on Sunday. Other than a few minor details, everything went pretty much perfectly. Everyone showed up more or less on time, enough to get pics done and the show on the road on schedule. The pastor was awesome, and the service was beautiful. But not nearly as beautiful as Michelle in that dress, wow. The reception went without a hitch. I heard nothing but compliments about the place, its food, and that everyone had a great time eating, drinking, dancing, and conversing. I would definitely recommend the place to anyone in the KC area. All in all, I don't think it could have gone any better really.

We didn't go anywhere for our honeymoon, instead we dug out from the piles of gifts (Thank you so much everyone!) and hung around town starting out next goal... house hunting! We've been out to about 7 house so far, and we both really like one in Grandview, but I need to look at another set of houses at least before I can say its the one. Anyone who knows me knows I'm very cautious (9 years remember). So maybe after next week, we'll put in an offer on that house if we don't find another we like better. We can't set back and wait too long, it really is a nice house. Plus if we want in on that $8000 tax credit we have to have the paperwork rolling by Oct. 15ish and pray nothing goes wrong along the way.

One thing we did though to just relax and have a good time was to go see a Royals game on Thursday. We watched them finish sweeping the league leading Tigers. Michelle and I saw the Royals pull off not just a win, but play an actually impressive game. They won 7-4, scored in 6 of the 8 innings they batted, hit 2 home runs (one which was reviewed and still called a homerun), 5 double plays (one of which was a line drive to the 1st baseman standing on the bag), and 2 stolen bases.

There was also a bit of excitement from the fans in the crowd. I saw a dad run over his kid to try and chase down a foul ball. Poor little guy got slammed into the seats from the aisle. The guy who ended up with the ball gave it to the kid. That's a good man. The dad took the kid up to get icecream afterwards and never came back. I also saw this guy heckling Detroit's right fielder to the point Magglio Ordonez gave the quick, close to the chest, flip of the bird. His large chested girlfriend was then up trying to get Ordonez's attention dancing around and flaunting her......assets. It worked for about an inning before an usher told her she'd have to set down and they would have to stop it.

      Hehhehheh what a week ^_^

Does anyone else think they should have a bunch of characters to choose from in Left 4 Dead 2? I mean, still have the 4 party system, but let you pick from 10, 20, hell 50 different people to be the survivors. I can't remember how many times I heard people complaining after the first 50 times playing through it about "Why do I get stuck as the girl? Why do I have to be Bill?" blah blah blah. Just give us a bunch of people to choose from so we can have a favorite to play as. It'd also make the parties and dialog more interested after you've played it 50 times.

For those of you who don't know, I work in the Quality Assurance Laboratory at a food processing plant. I make sure that the margarine, mayonnaise, salad dressings, ranch dressings, Italian dressings, French dressings, 1000 island dressings, honey mustards, BBQ sauces, tartar sauces, sweet & sour sauces, relishes, lemon juice, Worcestershire, etc that we make are good enough to ship out. Exciting stuff eh? Well not nearly as exciting as the beginning of shift on Monday. Seems 2 guys that work in palletizing got into a little, altercation.

Guy1 asks Guy2 if he had the money he owed him. Guy2 pulls a knife on Guy1. Guy2 proceeds to slash Guy1's face. Guy1 busts a 2x4 off a pallet and bashes Guy2 upside the head with said nail filled 2x4. Supervisor arrives on scene telling Guy2 to put the knife down and getting Guy1 to go to the front office with a Lead, which is secured by a pass card. Guy2 speaks in gibberish. Supervisor escorts Guy2 into front office where Guy2 proceeds to slam the Lead between him and Guy1 into a wall, then stab Guy1 in the arm. Cops arrive on the scene. Guy2 gets past the Cops, runs outside, runs back into another entrance to the building, runs upstairs and through the break room, runs halfway back downstairs, gets tasered by Cops, and falls to the bottom of the stairs. Cops tell Guy2 to drop the knife. Guy2 gets hand stomped by Cops until the knife is dropped. Guy2 is escorted in cuffs out by Cops. Guy1 is taken to hospital.

Now after all this Guy2 is immediately fired. The lead said technically they both have to be fired for liability reasons. So far Guy1 isn't fired. I'm thinking showing a little compassion and not firing Guy1 is going to be much cheaper in the long run. I can't picture a jury in the country that wouldn't give Guy1 whatever money he wanted for being fired for defending himself after taking a knife to the face, let alone the Supervisor bringing Guy2 into the secured area which ends up with Guy1 getting stabbed in the arm.

As of Thursday night, Guy1 got stitches and was released Monday night. Guy2 was still in serious to critical condition due to brain swelling from the 2x4. So if Guy2 comes out of it physically ok, he'll then get to deal with charges of assault with a deadly weapon (if not attempted murder), assault on the Lead, attempting to evade Cops, as well as anything else I didn't know about.

I'm sure those of you that actually play with me on Live have wondered why they've seen me for about 3 weeks playing Texas Hold'em for almost 24 hours day. I've been trying to earn the Luck of the Draw achievement. This is one of those random BS achievements that require nothing but playing until the game decides to give it to you. You have to get one of each hand type to earn it. After lookin up the odds online, that's a High Card 1:5.74, Pair 1:2.28, Two Pair 1:22, Three of a Kind 1:21, Straight 1:22, Flush 1:33, Full House 1:39, Four of a Kind 1:595, Straight Flush 1:3,591, and Royal Flush 1:30,940. It only took 18,264 hands for my spade Royal Flush to drop. Thank you blue rubber band for holding down my A button while I went to work and slept. I may have lost 12,000+ hands, but you've made me 10 gamerscore richer. Now I just need you to keep the analog sticks company long enough for my 100 hours to pass on Beautiful Katamari.

This journal isn't really that important. It's not really that interesting. It's not even really that useful...to you all. I just thought I'd track my progress here on the Zombie Genocidest achievement. That's killing 53,595 zombies total in Left 4 Dead for those of you living still under a rock. Go get the dang game and hunt some zombies with me.

I'm not sayin I'll update it every day, or even every time I play. What I will do is every once in a while mark my progress. Then I can look back at my journey and marvel at the sheer lack of a life I have and revel in the numbers of zombies I have exterminated. Go ahead and post up your kill count if you want. Post up when you get that last kill and where/what it was.

I know there are a few of you out there that have already joined in the hunt with me. I look forward to seeing more of you putting down the horde of undead by my side. Just like Chicago Ted's writing on the wall, no zombie is safe from Gadgetman Guido.

So I'm layin here in middle of the night on my cell typing this at my future sister-in-law's house on a futon with a symphony of snoring playing in the background. It's quite melodic and almost in tune, rather facinating.
I'm here with Michelle because her grandpa passed Thursday, the visitation was last night, and the funeral later today. Being a nightshifter, I did my best but couldn't stay awake until the visitation was over at 8PM. I came up with a plan to take a nap in the car of another sister-in-law's that we rode to the visition with so that nobody would see me pass out. It worked surprisingly well for being in subfreezing temps, that is until Michelle woke me up and had me open the door. The car alarm start firing off, and to my relief no zombies came charging. On the other hand, I had to sit in a car with its alarm going off until Michelle could run in to get the keys and shut it off. I wasn't about to go runnin out and away from a car with it's alarm goin off in St. Louis, so I just sat there shaking my head waking up to the loudest, non snooze buttoned alarm clock I have ever ran into.
The visitation was really nice. They did a great job with her grandpa. There were a lot of people too. There were some really nice floral arrangements too. I hope the service today is just as nice, minus the car alarm that is.

There are a few reasons I voted towards Obama.

First, for the past 8 years we've had a cowboy who likes to sling his gun around the world with or without the support of international communities. This has damaged the United States reputation around the world as a leader and turned it more into a bully. McCain is a self titled maverick which he says means he'll do whats best for the country. To me it means another president that will go out and make unilateral decisions in the world. With his stances on the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, I feel that the United States didn't need another 4 to 8 years of added hate and resentment. Obama has said he'll try diplomacy. Will it work? I don't know. Its not really something that's been tried the past 8 years, and it can't hurt the United States reputation in places like Afghanistan where the population is protesting over the civilian causalities of the United States operations.

Second, I don't think either candidate will survive the term. Don't get me wrong, I wish no ill will upon either of them. For McCain, previous bouts with skin cancer and his time as a POW probably don't add years to the end of a 72 year old man's life. For Obama, lets face it, one person is all it takes to assassinate a president, and there are still way too many hardcore racists in this country to deny the possibility. So I looked closer at the VPs this year than I have in the past. Biden just seemed the much more solid choice if something horrible should happen to whoever was going to win.

Those were the main deciding factors for me.

I've been asked my opinion about a few things about Obama by some people.

What might Obama accomplish in his time in office? In all honesty, if he can keep the country running while inspiring hope in my generation, that's a big enough accomplishment for me. Apathy is just too rampant now. Inspiration and hope could be the spark to rekindle the flame of the American Spirit that, to me, feels like it has died down to embers.

What do I feel about his plan for the economy? We've tried trickling the money from the top down and it doesn't seem to reach that far anymore. Yes, those that have earned heaploads of money from their work/family's business/inheritance/whatnot deserve the money they have made. Is it fair to not give them massive tax breaks compared to people barely making it paycheck to paycheck? From a moral standpoint I think it can be. When you compare having to decide between buying another home, and putting food on a child's plate, or paying the mortgage, perhaps the world should be able to see which is the morally positive choice. As well, encouraging companies to not outsource will help the jobless rate drop from the currently highest rate since 2001. Less people out of work means more money in the economy, more people can pay their mortgages, the banking world becomes more stable, banks start to ease back into loaning each other money, and the economy begins to heal.

What about his ties to some "questionable" characters? Everybody has been involved with someone who is of questionable morals. The main parts of that question to me is the definition of ties, and the characters at the time of being involved with them. Obama's ties to his pastor, Jeremiah Wright, are that of a man and his church. You don't have to agree with everything a pastor says at your church to believe in the religious aspects of it. When it became an issue, Obama condemned the pastors racial and political sermons, gave his speech on his views on race, and stepped away from the church. To me, what he did was perfectly acceptable. As for Bill Ayres, the tie doesn't hold at all. Obama was 8 when the Weathermen bombings occurred. History has passed, and Bill Ayres is now a university professor. When the 2 had the most interaction together, it was over a schooling project. One's action's in the past do not mean every action thereafter is bad.

So, that's that. Just my opinions and reasoning. You don't have to agree, that's the nice part about our country, but if you want to you don't have to be rude in your points. Here's to 4 years of hope.

I've been having fun running around finding these, and I was wondering if I was entertaining you all or annoying people with all the image alerts. I know many of them aren't very PC, but they are still funny to me. I've got others that wouldn't make it past the censors here, but I'm not gonna get myself in trouble to put them up. Feel free to take any of them, I didn't make them except the ones I marked that I did. Go ahead and take mine too and spread them around. I don't even expect credit for them, all I ask is you don't claim you made them. I'm happy just making people laugh.

    • VP picks

      Gadgetman

Well, as we all know the VPs have been chosen. Obama tapped Joe Biden, and McCain tapped Sarah Palin. Now I don't know much about these VP picks, but one thing seems pretty clear to me. The experience question is now out of the picture. Obama was elected to the senate in 2005, Palin was elected Gov. of Alaska in 2006. She's also served as mayor and councilwoman of a city for 2 terms each. I've been to city council meetings before, and I don't know if I would consider that relative work experience on a VP resume.

So now each side has a relatively young, relatively inexperienced half to their ticket, and an old white man who's been in Washington DC politics for over a quarter century. Tie game on experience. In my opinion, McCain just lost a serious advantage that he easily held to try to snatch up disgruntled Hillary supporters.

Haha, it's the same thing with the midges back in '07. It isn't the Indians fault that neither Torre nor Hillman asked the game to be delayed so the midges or in Hillman's case the seagulls could get off of the field. Cleveland sucks so much that they just need help from critters to win the game. They haven't won a World Series since 1948. So, I'm okay with it.
