This is mostly to expand our interests. What are some little-known series that you've seen?

I'm surprised that so few people I know have heard of The Galaxy Railways, for example. Or much anything in the Leijiverse, for that matter.

I now have an account. Friend Alfa Zagato, if you care to find me. Yes, I know, I really have no reason to call myself Alfa or Zagato, but that's the only thing I could think of.

HOLY SHIT THIS GAME IS FUCKING AWESOME!!!

I picked up BlazBlue today, trading in three games I don't play for a total of $37 store credit, meaning I only paid $25 in actual cash. That translates to $25 of awesomeness I would gladly paid $60 for.

Being from the creators of Guilty Gear, I suppose I should spend a bit comparing it to Guilty Gear, but I have never played Guilty Gear. So I know of no similarities or differences. Though if Guilty Gear spawned this, I must play Guilty Gear soon.

The gameplay is astounding. Because of my friend having older systems with heaps of classic fighting games, I've been able to pick up a touch for the classics. And damn, this game is worthy of being a classic for its gameplay. The 2D style is simply perfect. It's slightly easier for beginers from the lack of long combos, and the combos that are there being stick-friendly, meaning you can avoid the worthless d-pad on the 360 when playing. They even made the right stick a shortcut-button, with each direction being a different special move that normally needs a combo. Stick specials don't always trigger, though.

The character designs are refreshing and unique. Where the creators have borrowed a theme, they've made an excellent interpetation thereof. Major case in point here is Taokaka. Yes, she's a cat-girl. Yes, she fights somewhat like the catgirl from Bloody Roar. She is a fairly classic catgirl at that, but she is still a wonderful, refreshing character all the same. The major villian of the game, Ragna the Bloodedge, is a true badass, if only for the fact he weilds a fucking VAMPIRIC GUNBLADE. And the balance between characters is wonderful. Though I haven't played any character too extensively yet, their seems to be no single overpowerful character.

The soundtrack is simply amamzing. Almost every song is a classical-metal mash-up, with only a few that are pure either, or electro-dance sort of thing. And since I got the limited edition, I got the two-CD OST. Which means I can listen to Iron Tager's theme all I bloody want.

One of the few things that detracts from the experience, at least for fighting-game veterans, is the fact the game is on the console. It is a proper fighting game, meaning it's fairly difficult for a few veterans to play without an arcade stick. But their is a cabinet version, so keep your eyes peeled.

Got to ride in the Beast again. Bloody fun. Loud as hell, especially with the gaping hole between the door and the seat. Which also happened to be right above the muffler. Thing chugged around, mostly in second gear. Accelerated pretty quickly, though. Surprising, that.

The Beast, which is the 1966 Chevy pick-up shown in my pics, was recently fueled up again. On the old fuel, it backfired and growled and burbled with all the deposits in the fuel.

On fresh fuel, it sounds like a bloody Harley-Davidson V-Twin. Really funny math, in my opinion.

      But it's still awesome.

      Awesome.

      And Suburban body, what?

    • haloguru2552

Interesting. So it has two shifters then?

One thing I'm thankful for is that my truck only spent a year up north. Most of its life was spent in Mississippi and Texas.

    • haloguru2552

Only original part? You mean...you've already replaced the entire body?

      9 gears? dude.....

Is it like the granny tranny that they put in semi trucks?

    • haloguru2552

You should Drop a 350 in the Queen Beast. Then she'll really purr.

I've been tossing around the idea of pulling the engine and tranny in my Ford; rebuilding the engine, and replacing the current towing-geared-3 speed manual with a 4 speed. I just can't pull the horses with that 3 speed that I could with the 4 speed. I only have 2 accelerating gears. Third gear is overdrive.

I'm probably going end up doing that with the tranny, but the engine will probably stay where it is, because after Christmas break I'll have practically every gasket except the head gaskets changed.

    • haloguru2552

What size engine does it have? That entire engine looks like it could use a replacement, anyway. Ditto for the master cylinder. It doesn't look like it's in great shape.

    • haloguru2552

Small enough carb? Do you want good-ish gas mileage or do you have to have a small carb?

It looks like a big project. Most people wouldn't even bother with something in that bad of condition (no offense intended). In all honesty, I could have picked something better for a project, but my truck has sentimental value. It was the vehicle that my parents bought after they got out of the airforce, and was the family vehicle throughout my early childhood.

Wow, 66? I would have guessed 50s. You should definitely restore it. Or is it pretty much beyond repair?

    • haloguru2552

True...the salt doesn't do kind things to vehicles. My truck isn't really considered to be in very good condition for a truck of its age, but it's been better preserved than other vehicles of the 70s. What year is the Beast Queen?

    • haloguru2552

Heh. That's the way to show 'em. That sucks though that they don't have any respect for older vehicles. At least down here in Texas, almost everybody has at least a tiny bit of respect for classic vehicles. No matter what condition they're in.

    • haloguru2552

Your city has no respect for classic vehicles.

Why'd they try to make you get rid of it? Eye sore?

    • haloguru2552

      Will it pass inspection?

My '72 Ford truck passed inspection. Then like 3 days later, the brakes bought it. haha.

How the hell does that engine even work? It looks like everything is practically rusted together...

this is true, and not having the suicide shifters could just work against that. still, it does look pretty sweet. im pretty sure you have essentially the same bike, only yours wasnt left outside at UGA in the early 70s to rust in the rain. no worries though; its rusted about as much as it ever will and still runs great (minus the fact that i completely fucked up the rear wheel).

What was that car you posted?

    • kokopelli73

Heh - funny you should mention it. My dad got a 1972 Super Beetle and while restoring it found that one of the fenders had about three inches thick worth of bondo slathered on it from a bump it had received in the past.

Yeah, that may be the case though, with you. Just be super careful, I suppose, right? smiley8.gif

    • kokopelli73

I spoke to my Dad, and he said it better be cheap unless it's in truly excellent condition.

Something to remember about Karmann-Ghias: if it needs any body work, you're going to be paying, well, lots. Because all of the body panels are interconnected. So say if you had to replace a fender, basically you'd have to remove the entire front end, and then some.
