Infinity Ward has certainly unleashed the motherload of a video game package this year for Modern Warfare 2 with the Hardened Edition including the hardened case, the artbook and the Call of Duty Download Token and Prestige Edition including the Hardened Edition and the all-too-cool-looking Infinity Ward Night Vision Goggles.

      I've preordered the Hardened Edition.
Modern Warfare 2 Standard Edition has become the most expensive standard new release video game in the history of the UK, going from RRP £40-£55 (and seemingly marking the weakness in the pound expected to occur in our video game retail this winter and spring). Those are some cool looking goggles, but I have no room or use for them, and personally, my Legendary Edition Master Chief helmet makes a great mirror on my desktop.

But which one of these packages are you counting your pennies, notes or digits for?

Must be just the amount of conventions with games in the summer, or the E3 fever hasn't ended yet, but all the new announcements are getting big updates and game media material glore (or not for one)

Gears of War 2: Dark Corners is only 3 and a bit days away, and it looks like one of the best things to download this year. Co-op with my brother is gonna be awesome, and I'm looking forward to giving the Locust Hoarde or Multiplayer Dickheads a good arsekicking in the 7 new maps.

Left 4 Dead 2 is certainly looking more worth the money. Why not hear it from Valve themselves?

Assassin's Creed 2 is looking awesome (I liked the looks of the first one. Might grab it), and the three-part live action series sounds cool, unlike Microsoft Game Studio and their new Halo Media department, 343 Industries new production, Halo Legends. Because I've had to retype this journal (fucking backspace key!), I'm gonna let my fellow appauled Halo fan, Clearly English give you the news, vids and poster of this...legendary fuckup Bungie had no part in (unless you count Frank O'Connor being 343 Industries head).

Check out Gametrailers and Machinima.com (Machinima has lots of interviews, but Gametrailers always has THE stuff to look for) for any other Comic Con breakouts I've missed.

Aside from that stuff, I've got me 2 American Imported Cans of Mountain Dew ready for a fun weekend of 8-Player Halo 3 Screenshot shooting, GTA IV 100% completion (only 7.83% to go), gaming fun and maybe some drawing if I can finally make myself decide or do something.

As a Halo driver since the beginning, who's thought I and my brother had done and seen nearly all, I have to say, this is the first montage I've seen with REAL skill, luck and awesome in Multiplayer. You may agree, you may not, but, you might like what you see if you decide to watch.

Hope to bring you some good stuff back.

      .. and confuse.

Everyone has been, and still is confused about the full/official title to Modern Warfare 2 (for those who aren't getting their info from Infinity Ward themselves). But according to Inside Gaming
(Yep, I still watch it. It's good for alerting me new stuff which I can then get better info on elsewhere. I find it easier this way, for I spend half my Internet time on YouTube anyway), Infinity Ward posted pictures of this latest box art:

      mw2.png

I think Activision is having issues with Infinity Ward's change of title. Back on 11th February, Activision, not Infinity Ward announced "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2". Infinity Ward has maintained from day one, "Modern Warfare 2", even with the unpackaging of their Prestige Edition, "Call of Duty" was not once mentioned or printed on the game boxes of anything that wasn't the first Call of Duty Download Token.
Perhaps Activision is trying to solve the confusion they created, to ensure the already guaranteed to be colossal profit as they possibly can (think about it, what idiot is going to buy Modern Warfare 2 if it doesn't have Call of Duty in the title?)

Well, at least Infinity Ward is putting more emphasis on the "subtitle".

So far, I haven't found anything related to this on any of the game or developer's official websites, their Twitter (I have NO idea how to use or browse the damn thing, so I didn't get the best look) or Kotaku.

But whilst searching for related news on Kotaku, I found probably the most important news anyone in my country is going to need to hear: kotaku.com/5316802/uh-britain-about-your-modern-warfare-2-pricing . Looks like the Prestige Edition is not going to be too much of a money drainer compared to the Hardened or even the Standard Editions after all
(But I think I'll stick with Hardened. I get all, but the Night Vision, which I don't need, or even have room on my desktop for. I certainly will not replace my beloved Master Chief helmet there. The visor makes a great mirror).

James was right. Kotaku is the best place for gaming news and trivia. You get the stuff you need to know.

Aside from that, I'm looking forward to posting some new pictures I've taken from Halo 3 and Gears of War 2. I went nuts before Bungie Day, and Gears of War 2 has at present become the game I play and enjoy the most with.

And about the image gallery I keep on cleaning out (because I fuss so much about the layout and order of images. Very stupid, I know), that's going to change. I made improvements to my avatar (Yep. More. It never stops, does it? Hopefully this time, it will), and I'm hoping to do a little something different to put in there.

      Anyway, see ya.

    • I Haz Recon

      Gaz_The_Fox

Back on Bungie Day, me and my friend Neville, aka Cosmic Omega played throughout the entire day (me from 10:00am approx to 9:30am the next day, minus an hour and a bit for food), in the microscopic hopes of on top of having the incredible fun that only lasted the morning, we'd get to meet Bungie, and personally ask for our steak dinners (Luke owes me 100 precisely. Believe me, I was hoping to get the cash for them in the least. He owes me, BIG time).

We never met a single employee, but like I said before, at least 3 people racist towards the British (I quote: "You're British? That's WORSE than retarded". But the power of mute turns my ears off whilst his remain on. >:D), a 100 quiters and only 2 people who made us laugh our socks and bladder control off.

On Friday night, Neville messaged me on MSN saying he received Recon. Going onto Halo 3 to confirm his story, I found I also had it too. I received no word, but Neville had a message directly from them, stating that it was awarded, or as a thank you, for the dedication of staying from the beginning to the end of Bungie Day's special playlist. I was gobsmacked.

Want official proof? Have it! :D

Have I received attention? Yep. 10+ friends requests (one I accepted because we were playing together, and she/he was quite a decent player, both in skill and manners), a guy claiming to have given it to me, and mixed reactions from players. XD

Recon has never been that big a deal for me, aside from the shoulders, but I never imagined ever getting Recon as an award from Bungie, especially for a reason like this. But me and Neville love having it. He can make any kind of video he wants, and I can do countless things with it, including adding it into Churchman/Clearly English's O.N.I Halo Webcomic.

      mf374.jpg

Plus, the shoulders are more beautiful than I ever imagined!
      mf372.jpg

Well, putting the lure for noobs and the soon-to-be-obsolete "armour of glory" aside, if you're a fan of Ross Scott, you're gonna love his long awaited new episode of Civil Protection, Morning Patrol (and after all the sound quality & realism and environmental work, I can see why it took so many months for him and the guys to make). Enjoy.

      Well, sleepy times.

    • What a Week

      Gaz_The_Fox

JD/Scorch360 asked me if I blew up anything on July 4th (after all, my activities did cover the methods of it's celebration in America). The answer is yes, if you count my temper and my friendship with the famous couple, Lily and Dilly. And if you do, from my point of view, that was nuclear. LOL. But that's over and done with, and all my assumptions have been cleared up, so that's one chapter of my life that's come to an end. :D

And as for Bungie Day. Halo fans call it Christmas in July. Heh, last year was more like that. This year, it was more like being invited to Bungie's birthday party along with the other 182,956 people who played "Bungie vs. The World", but only a randomly select few get the doggie bags, containing the cake and goodies that makes whatever they had to offer plus Recon. Heck, the guest of honour didn't even stick around for the end of the party like they said they would (I saw their webcams. XD). What kind of birthday is that?
But it actually was a great playlist. There were some most brilliant maps, and at least for the morning, me and Neville/Cosmic Omega (who played for 23hrs that day, in the TINIEST of hopes we'd be blessed enough to be able to meet Bungie and ask for our steak dinners) met some very decent people, and one stuck up, English chav forger whom we, literally, ROFLMAOed at. But for the rest of the day, we met at least 15 species of arsehole, and 5 species of idiot, and only one of the entire lot was funny. Tut tut tut. But I had a lot of fun with my mates. And that's all that matters.

Oh well, maybe it will be better next year, with Halo Reach on the way on top. Maybe.

I downloaded Battlefield 1943 yesterday. And it is sweet! Of all the good things this game has, the planes have to be the best out of it all. I'm looking forward to doing my part for the Coral Sea challenge when it start's tomorrow (43,000,000 kills as an entire Battlefield community) to get that map and the Air Superiority game type with it, to take the fight to the skies.

And it's a bit late, but I thought I'd put these up anyway.

      desktop.png
(I added the "Happy Bungie Day" to the Seventh Column poster. The rest, apart from the RvB poster is mine)

Way to show us Red-Coats who's boss.

BTW, I celebrated my defeat by going to a rock festival my brother was playing at whilst eating BBQ chicken, went to an 18th birthday party and enjoyed home-made beer, party food & meeting new people, and listened to the local carnival fireworks. The coincidentally perfect way to enjoy such a day.

Over the years, I've lost many friends. Most of them were horrible to me, either bullying me for who I was or just plain making me "fill requirements" for their friendship. It took me until 15 to realise how stupid I was. And now it's happened again. And I just cannot believe it.

It's just unbelieveable. I've spend half of everyday I've ever been able to get of my life talking to Dylan/Cabose and James/Lily for the last year, my ties with James go back as far as 3 and a half years, and now Dylan put value on it over a tiny video game (Megaman 2) and James knows nothing about me other than the last 6 months?

They claim all they know about me is that I hate myself, I refuse to play any game they want me to play, I'm a hypocrite about the video games I love, and never tell them what's going on. And apparently, just talking about ourselves and our current events is not enough to suggest anything is good with us.

      Newsflash:

I'm not proud of myself before 15 and a half, but that's all in the past. I love life and all that's going for me (recent times have not been so good). I have a mental disorder called Asperger Syndrome which effects my social capabilities, expression of creativity, social confidence, coping with change is harder than for most, and can somewhat make us obsessive to some things. Products of entertainment are a common example (I see this more promonently in fellow residents affected more by it. I seem more open to newer things these days, but to them, not much).

I never refuse to play every game you want me to play. I never simply want to fork out my money on games I'm not going to play for more than 2hrs at the most, and I never seem to get around to play Half Life 2 much, let alone any PC game, so why download a ROM, regardless of the fact it's free, when I am already entertained with what I have?

I've never once said that "Megaman's perfect, Halo isn't, but I will still play Halo and not Megaman". I've only agreed that games I play have many flaws (apparently, I seem to own nothing but Aliens ripoffs besides anything I own made by Criterion or DICE. I never noticed. Then again, I haven't seen the films. Be amazed), but to me, they're worth the money I spent on them because I found them fun, and still do. But how about I write what games I love and why I love/loved them in another journal, so there's more spread of attention span and no more room for misunderstandings.

And I never tell you what goes on with me?:

      A. How can I bring up anything. Anytime I'm dragged into a chat, who wants to know? How do you just bring it up like that in a middle of a cheerful conversation or a chat filled with humourous jibberish. And if I'm asked, things go silent.

      B. You both seem to have quite a short memory. I doubt you'd even remember what you spent half the summer last year talking to me about.

      C. Dylan. You don't know what goes on with me? READ MY JOURNAL. Oh wait, too long.

And one thing that fustrates me most? When I tried to sort it out properly, all they did was scream down my microphone, boot me, then when I joined again, asking specifically to talk to them, Dylan said nothing, even after I asked politely 10 times, and James did nothing but do the opposite of help, like he was enjoying it. And do you know how much it took until they finally kicked back and listened to me? When I lost my nerve and got disrespectfully angry. How much does a problem have to be before you can resolve it?

So Dylan, James, you were wondering why I'm acting like such a shithead? Here's your answer. I've been through this before enough times in my life, and I will NOT tolerate it. And the way you blocked me out Wednesday, was almost the exact way the people you burn, zing, or spam try to deal with you. THAT's why I'm upset. And unlike the pair of you, I don't cut and run on my friends, or show disrespect simply because they like different things. That's why I made the effort.

Personally i don't like "Retro" games.
I've got Sonic Adventures 2 from the X-box Arcade and... I can't play it, i end up getting so pissed off with the enemies that you can't dodge unless you know they're there, the sudden death pits and the irritating "Miss-by-a-pixel-and-die" boss fights.

I tried playing Marathon and...the controls... they were SO sluggish that i was actually starting to get tired dragging this character around the screen

Gaz, I think you misunderstood a lot of what I said. It WAS partially my idea to have you play MM2, but there was a good reason for me not to tell you myself. My sister is staying with us now, and the hassle of making her get off the computer just so I can say one little thing is not worth it. It was faster and easier to have James, who has easier access to his computer, tell you for me.

What exactly WERE you going to do with James, if not try to steal him? Honestly, if you weren't, what would you be doing? You would be playing 360 FPS games, and failing at making jokes. The same thing you do online. There's no NEED for you to meet each other, because you would still just do the same things you already did online. So, it was obvious that the one thing you wanted to do that you could not do online, was steal James from me. That never would have worked, by the way.

I don't get why you said "british, or Aspergers diagnosed children" don't play video games. Aspergers I'd believe, but not British. The Sega Genesis, or Megadrive over there, was more popular in the UK than the US, and it sold a lot in the US. There's even a UK based video game cover band, and they've done some of their favorite Genesis/Megadrive games. Maybe YOU didn't grow up with video games, but that doesn't mean your whole country didn't.

Isn't the whole point of EVERY video game to kill boredom? The entire purpose of gaming is to have fun. You talk about how you love "Cinematic" stories, but you play some pooooorly written games. Call of Duty 4, for instance. I don't even know WHY the badguys were bad, or what they were doing, it was never really explained. It felt like our only goal was to blow shit up, and fight some middle eastern and Russian guys. Bad Company...just...that's the worst premise for a game ever. Why would I WANT annoying, AWOL, criminals, to succeed at anything. They're the kind of guys you put in a game as villains. Besides, Battlefield is a multiplayer game, a story is unnecessary and unimportant. Megaman 2 at least had a coherent bad guy, a hero who was, well, heroic, and it was interesting. Especially when things got to Megaman X and onward. Before you think about mentioning Metal Gear, because you for some reason call yourself a fan, just stop yourself. Metal Gear is a masterpiece, a masterpiece you have never, and likely never will, experienced to the full extent. You can't just watch the cutscenes, playing the game is a whole different experience, it's the way it SHOULD be. Unfortunately, your undying loyalty to shooters, and Microsoft, is probably going to keep you from ever playing most of the Metal Gear games. Maybe you'll get Rising, but I'm willing to bet there won't be enough senseless violence for you.

BTW, Castle Crashers is NOT 3D. You can go up and down, but the game is still flat. That's jsut the way beat em' up games are. They're 2D, but you can sidestep, otherwise the game would be unfair.

Just because a game was the building block upon which thousands of other games were created, that doesn't mean EVERYONE has to play it and EVERYONE has to love it.

I play FPS's all the time and yet i haven't played DOOM, But does that mean that i have to, to be able to enjoy games like Bad Company to their full?
