      Update:

I am ENGAGED! My beautiful girl friend became my beautiful fiance, and we're getting married on August 15th. Soon, yeah.. but we're going to do it!

If I get the chance, I'll update more later.

I'm still here.. believe it or not! I check often, but I don't post ever.. sorry ='(

      Just a quick update:
I'm now a sophomore at Purdue, majoring in Computer Engineering and minoring in Management. I'm working two jobs, and still struggling to put two nickels together. I can't keep up with the bills, and I can't afford to go out and do anything... sad, really..

On a happier note, I'm going on my 15th month with my beautiful bride-to-be, Brittany. We're happy together, and she's on campus with me. I bought her a "promise ring" which she wants to be our engagement ring (not gonna happen.. I'll buy one of those later). We're talking about getting married next summer, probably May-ish. This is a result of an almost guaranteed internship with Allstate, in Chicago. I'll be doing network infrastructure engineering, and making a crap ton more than I can make doing anything else in a summer. We'll see what happens, but that's all in the planning phases now.

My parents are driving me nuts. My dad wants me out of the house, my mom wants me in the house more now than ever, and my sister just wants to come here with me to get away from them both. I'm glad I'm away for a while. This past summer was hell. Brittany is convinced that my parents don't like her (which is wrong..) and that she and I aren't going to make it because of them (also VERY wrong..). I'm doing my own thing and beating to my own drum.

Life is chaotic, at best, but I'm making it. Just a quick update. I'm still around, and I still check new journals and pics fairly often. I'll do better once I get myself back on some sort of a schedule.

I'll talk to you all later!

      HaloPenguin

I built a PC yesterday for a friend, and all was going well. When I finished building it, I encountered several MAJOR problems. The first problem was that it would go to the motherboard welcome screen, ask me to hit DEL to enter setup, and freeze after I hit DEL. I figured that one out. Then, I finished configuring the BIOS, and it rebooted. When it asked me to put the OS disk in the optical drive, the "shit hit the fan" so to speak.. Neither disk drive will open when connected to the IDE controller on the motherboard. Standing alone, they'll open just fine. Any suggestions?

      Specs:
      ASUS A8N--SLI Premium motherboard
      AMD Athlon 64 4000+ (Socket 939)
      420 Watt PSU
      ATI All-In-Wonder 2006 video card
      2x 512mb Kingston ValueRam
3 1/2" floppy (can't remember exacts on this one)
200gb Western Digital SATA hard drive
ASUS DVD-ROM drive (IDE - Master)
ASUS DVD-RW drive (IDE - Slave)

I've tried everything I know to try.. PLEASE HELP ME

I definitely see your side. The truth is that unions were created because businesses at the beginning of the 20th Century were taking advantage of certain groups of laborers. A lot of people were either very ill because their jobs didn't look out for their safety, or they were forced to be paid poorly or both. Unions were formed to stand up to "big business" for the little people. The PROBLEM is that unions themselves tend to act like "big business". Many times, unions only want to get the most for their people and have little regard for what it will do to the economy and the nation. It's just the other side of the same coin.

In other words, there is no easy answer.

The Writer's Guild isn't new, though. I mean, it's been around a long time. It's just that they haven't striked in over a decade (Johnny Carson was still hosting the Tonight Show back then).

I actually live near campus, so yes, I will be there. Granted, I'll be spending some of my time at my parents, but not all of it.

Agreed! Freakin' loved "Transformers". I was drooling the entire time. I'm going to say my favorite transformation was the F-22 changing while flying. ^______^

    • rabid_usagi

Wow, um, thanks for the lengthy explanation. =^_^= Usagi = rabbit/bunny in Japanese. Sorry for the confusion. Actually, I prefer nekos (cats) to usagis, but I oh, well. Rabbits brutally murdering one another is freakin' awesome. Thank you for your explanation once again. *kiss*

Okay, what's your obsession with penguins? Usagis are soooooo much better. *chuckles*

Yeah. I've not met Gus before, so that will be interesting. I plan on being there at least the Sat and Sunday of it, but am aiming for the Friday as well. I have messaged about 10 other people who are within a good distance of Indy, so I am trying.

It would be cool to have you there. I'm just trying to get as many people there as possible. Indiana is like the retard state for RvB fans. There aren't many of those here.
