      Was great.
My mother sent me a beautiful pair of black, tailored, lambskin gloves.
      I think I'm in love.

      Merry Christmas, all.

There's a lot of fun stuff on the horizon, I'm excited. smiley0.gif

This weekend, myself and a friend from work are going up to Quebec City for the weekend to be Anglophone tourists. It's going to be SUCH an experience. I'm hoping for snow. smiley1.gif
      48hrsQuebec.jpg

In just over 2 weeks I'm off to Michigan again for American Thanksgiving (omnomturkey), but what I'm probably most excited for is Black Friday. I have a shopping list as long as my arm, and with any luck, I'll have a lovely boy to follow me around and carry everything. smiley0.gif
Then I'll be back down there again in a few weeks more, for Christmas and New Years.
      images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSXuLIxOLeNbcDy4ygGnQd

After New Year, Zak and I are planning to take 2 weeks off work and travel to New York and Washington D.C. for a bit of a touristy getaway, with hopefully at least a few days in Toronto afterwards to catch up with friends long unseen.

She sent me a sneaky awesome parcel filled with notes and letters and origami (!!) and SQUIGGLES, which are the greatest invention ever, of all time.

We have a company-wide IM system.
Which means I can IM people home in NZ when they get to work, as well as people upstairs when I can't be bothered walking up.
      It's pretty nifty.

I seem to consistently align with awesome bosses.
      Case in point.

    • Oh, You Americans

      Heather

So here's something that happened a while ago that made me laugh.

We all know there are a few Americans (let's call them Amurrikunz) who do their bit to represent America as a backwards, ignorant, overall-wearing, wheat-chewing, cousin-marrying nation of interestingly-educated individuals.
      A few.
We love you for it, really.

Before you get too smug, you Canadians, I'm afraid to say that you too fall under the category of "American" (as do Central and South American citizens), and this allows you to be tarred with the same brush as the ever surprising 'Amurrikun'.

To that end, I will share the following anecdote starring myself, the ever effervescent Kiwi stretching her wings in the Great White North, Mr T (any resemblance to peoples living or dead is entirely coincidental), a Brit-cum-Australian currently nestled in our office to assist with project operations, and a Canadian 'Amurrikun' from Northern Ontario impressively filling a lead administration role.

The following takes place between 10:00am, and 10:59am:

Picture a generic office setting, our three stars gathered around the reception desk chattering of nonsense:

Amurrikun: I've always wanted to visit Australia, I have family there. I should go.
Kiwi: Nah, you don't want to do that. Waste of time. The place is full of Australians.
      Brit-cum-Australian: amused glare
Amurrikun: But I really want to see a kangaroo!
Brit-cum-Australian: Where I live, the best place to see kangaroos is down at the local prison. I always tell people I'm about to take them to a not-so-great part of town, but kangaroos are everywhere down there.
      Amurrikun: Australia has prisons?
      Kiwi: Australia is a prison.
Amurrikun: almost to herself, gazing vacantly into space: Yeah, I suppose other countries do need their own prisons...
      Brit-cum-Australian: D=

      Oh, you Amurrikunz.

The Moa were a species of flightless bird found in early New Zealand.
They were comparable in size to the ostrich, and often much larger.
They were hunted to extinction by the Maori, New Zealand's pre-European settlers.
They did not have a comb like a chicken.

Hey, did you hear already about tonights Monday night lunar eclipse, it is supposed to be a full eclipse of the moon, I am not totally sure when it is supposed to be visible for all of us here in the central time zone, but I think it is supposed to begin around 11pm "approx" first the moon will turn sort of orange and then go black, and it will be a long time before it comes back out again, it will be cool.

info about the eclipse can eb read here...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December_2010_lunar_eclipse
