In conjunction with the Cheap Ass Gamer Grifball Team's effort to raise money for the Child's Play charity, GrifballHUB.com is auctioning off two items to raise funds:

*1x Reach Noble Six Action Figure, signed by 13 Bungie staff present at the 343 Meet-up panel at PAX 2010.

*1x Red vs. Blue Recollection DVD set signed by 4 RoosterTeeth staff.

All proceeds will be donated to the charity drive, which currently has raised close to $2,000 from pledges and donors. The CAG Grifball Team has raised roughly $1,000 themselves, and CheapyD of www.CheapAssGamer.com had pledged to match all donations, up to $1,000.

Our goal for this drive was to break $2,500, and with these auctions ending this Sunday, this is our final push.

      Finish Strong, Spartans!

It seems that some of the league games this season are being purged on Bungie.net. By "purge", I mean that individual scores, carnage, and field statistics are not being tracked by Bungie.net, and presumably, not Grifball.com. It does seem, however, that more historical games (even our first match ever against Cannonball) remain intact.

    • Guess HotShotX's K/D Spread Post GBSML09

in Forums > Guess HotShotX's K/D Spread Post GBSML09 | Follow this topic

      HotShotX

In the interest of lulz, I have decided to hold a bit of a contest. As many of you all know, Cheap Ass Gamer is well known for two things: Launching, and going Massively Negative. Of all of us, I hold the worst K-D Spread in the league, ranked dead last at #3716 with -615 K-D after 4 League seasons, holding a -102 spread over the runner up.

The contest will consist of entering a single entry into this thread guessing what my final K-D Spread will be at the end of the GBSML09 Regular Season. All entrants get a SINGLE guess, which will be locked in, and cannot be edited (editing results in permanent disqualification). You have until CAG's first game Saturday to get your entry in, so once the Pro League schedule is released, think about your entry and get it in.

Objective: Guess HotShotX's K-D Spread at the end of the GBSML09 Regular Season.
      Prize: (1) 1600 XBL Point Card/Code
      Rules:
      1. All entrants get a single guess.
      2. Contest is open to League players only, except CAG members who cannot apply (sorry guys).
      3. Entries must come in the following form to be declared official:

      RT Name:
      XBL Gamertag:
      K-D Spread Entry:

      ~RT Name

      4. Guesses are first come, first served (once a number is chosen it cannot be used again, so check the thread to ensure your entry is valid).
      5. Entry closest to the final total wins, tiebreakers will be resolved by the more negative entry being declared the winner.
Timeframe: All entries must be received by CAG's first game (ETA: Saturday, July 11th, 2009), and winner will be declared and awarded shortly after CAG's final regular season game.

Good luck to all who enter. I will answer questions as they arise but I think everything is covered. I will post a spread sheet of everyone's entries once the entry session is closed. The thread is now open to discussion/entries.

Has anyone else noticed that the older League Highlights in the videos section of Grifball.com no longer work? Considering the overall lack of support from RT concerning maintaining the Videos section of Grifball.com, I think it might be a good idea to have a "League Official" account on YouTube to maintain all official highlights and other League videos.

I've registered Grifballdotcom at Youtube (because apparently someone registered Grifball in 2006 and filled it with a bunch of non-Grifball-related garbage), and if possible, would either:

      1. Like to receive all official files for League Highlights to upload them to the account.
      2. Hand the account off to someone who can.

I think having an official medium such as Youtube that can be updated regularly with highlights might help expedite the release of said material *hint hint*. It would also provide a quick go-to link aside from Grifball.com to be used to help entertain and entice the newbies into joining the league. Consider it a recruitment method, but also a highlights database.

During the H3P Qualifiers, in the pre-game lobby of the Cheap Ass Gamer vs. Bleep Bloop! matchup, penguinocalypse brought up the idea of making the match a Grifbrawl match, which then led to members of both teams were tossing back ideas of potentially submitting a game of "lulz", in which potential game "themes" consisted of "Couching-Only", "Looking straight up the entire game", and related nonsense guaranteed to provide many a laugh.

HotShotX however, suggested the following idea, which become known as the:

The Cheap Ass Gamer-Bleep Bloop! "So You Think You're A Captain" Challenge.

The rules are very simple, and like Grifbrawl, runs primarily on the honor of those involved. Teams of 4 or 5 play Grifball on the standard-issue SNGB map, with the team's captains entering the commentator/cameraman box for the duration of the game, and not attack one another. The remaining team members however, turn off their TVs for the duration of the game, and play solely on the orders (or lack thereof) of their captain.

The first game ran roughly 7 minutes, and can be found here:
      www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=71098918

This thread will serve as a bit of a record for SYTYAC games, so feel free to post your respective match-ups in this thread.

During the Summer 2008 season, I created a vehicle-based version of Grifball known as Grifpolo. Recently, a few friends and I dug out the old map and gametype, blew off the dust, and laughed our asses off for a good hour. In furthering the pursuit of good lolz, I hereby announce the 1st Grifpolo Tournament!

This will be a 8-Team Double Elimination Tournament. 16 if demand is great enough. The tournament begins one week from today (Wed, December 10th) at 7pm CST, sign-ups will close 1 hour prior to this. When you sign up, give me a team name and the gamertags of all 6 players (2 alts are allowed) The rules are as follows:

      Game Settings (Version 2.0):
Neutral Assault: Instant Arming/Fuse Time, 30 Second Reset Time, Indestructible Vehicles, 9 Rounds.
Carrier Traits: 10% Health, No Shields, 100% Damage, 75% Speed, 200% Gravity, Passenger Only, No Radar
Player Traits: Gravity Hammers, 50% Health, No Shields, 0% Damage, 100% Speed, 100% Gravity, Full Use of Vehicles, Radars - Allies Only
Custom Powerup Traits: 10 Seconds, 100% Damage, 30 Second respawn, Cannot use vehicles. Two CPs are located at each goal for defense purposes.

      Game Strategy:
Offense: Get the ball, get Grif into a warthog, transport him safely to the goal, use hammers to fend off enemy warthogs, protect Grif.
Defense: Smash warthogs with hammer (into other players), grab Grif out of the car, run Grif over/assassinate, use power-ups to defend the goal.

      Game Variant: www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=59565655
      Map Variant: www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=59601362

If you've never played Grifpolo before, but love running shit over, you're in for a real treat. Here's a link to a video of the 1st Grifpolo game ever played, on the old map (rules and map have since changed): www.gamevee.com/viewVideo/508916
