I don't know why, but every so often while playing or watching a video game I will see some piece of gear that a character is using or wearing, and I just have to have that item ASAP.
Anyway, tonight while watching 5hizzle stream DayZ Standalone on Twitch I saw his character using this backpack Taloon_backpack_(in-game).png
I knew I had to have it. A quick Google search and a visit to Amazon later, I found my bag and ordered it. 41y1Qxdb41L._SL500_.jpg
I also feel compelled to admit that I've bought a physical map from the game a day ago. maps.jpg
      I have a problem.

Alright, this is for posterity. I regularly carry a firearm concealed. In fact I have concealed carried at least one pistol on my person every day for the past three years. In all this time I have rarely if ever chosen to open carry any of my weapons, simply for the fact that it is legally dubious to do in this state, not to mention the generally misinformed public that might react adversely to "a man with a gun" walking around peacefully. Recently, however, the Alabama legislature has clarified that open carry by itself does not fall under disorderly conduct, which I understand to be the most popular charge that LEOs like to lay unjustly on law abiding citizens wearing their firearms on the outside of their shirts. Mind you this was a clarification, meaning that open carry was never illegal.
Unfortunately and illogically most businesses in Alabama would frown on someone entering their place of business with a visible firearm and yet have no issue with those same weapons covered by a simple piece of cloth.
Today was the first day that I ever ran into one of these illogical situations. I was at a local grocery store minding my own business, dressed nicely in a button-up shirt and jeans with a belt, and a 1911 .45 at the four o'clock position on my waist subtly visible in an inside-the-waistband holster. I shopped for around twenty minutes with no comment from the numerous other customers around me, not even a dirty look. Nearing the point where I was ready to head to the check out I started to notice that I was seeing the same two or three employees walking briskly past the aisle I was occupying glancing sidelong in my direction. At this point I anticipated what was about to happening tried to speed up the person I was with in their shopping so that we could avoid any kind of confrontation. Contrary to popular belief I do not wish to open carry for attention, I chose to do it because it is worlds more comfortable and much quicker and safer to access. Back to the story, I failed to make it out of the aisle before I was approached by two people, a man and a woman. The woman informed me that she was with the store's loss prevention department and asked me if my firearm was real. I have to say that I have rarely seen an adult act more nervously than this woman did addressing me, her voice was shaking and she seemed near to the point of tears. After her question I answered saying that the weapon was indeed real, she then proceeded to stumble through a long line of missinformation to ultimately get across the statement that the store does not like open carry because "it scares people" but that they were fine with anyone concealed carrying. I responded by saying that I would comply with their wishes but that open carry was in fact legal and that the issue had recently been clarified by the state legislature. The woman, still in an extremely nervous state, began to make statements that showed that she had heard of the bill I was referring to bit that she failed to understand the fact that open carry was currently legal and not pursuent to the actual date upon which the bill officially becomes law. I continued to politely disagree with her while assuring her that I would comply.
In the end I simply pulled my shirt up and over my gun and finished my shopping with no further issue.
I don't know if I'll try to open carry again in the near future but I will continue to to excessive my right to carry a firearm. And I'll continue to laugh at people's weird logic, and out of sight out of mind mentality when it comes to weapons.

Probably because my friends list includes one active, one semi-active, and two completely inactive members (and Jack).
But never mind about that, how's the clan coming along? Sorry I can't be more active but I recently moved to a location that lacks access to high speed internet.
