    • Welcome to Destiny

      InsaneDC

As it's the day before Destiny goes live, and some parts of the world already are logging in and getting there game on (lucky bastards), I'd just like to say to everyone happy hunting!

However, if you would like to join a clan that wants to do the end game raids, see everything there is to see, and find some of the best loot around well look no further than my clan! Steel Fuuria, located at the link, is going to be my main clan unless it dies like so many things before it. However, me and some of my friends are going to try to make it a place where anyone is welcome. From old friends of ours from this community to any and all newcomers! I welcome you with open arms and will see you tonight at midnight, eastern standard time. If you care to join me, don't be shy. My gamertag is InsaneDarkCloud.

Until then Guardian. I'll see you in the stars.

Now that I have some time, finally time to do one of these I think. As soon as I was done work on Tuesday, July 2nd, I went straight home to finish packing. I couldn't wait for the whole event to start as well as I was soon to be meeting one of the best friends that I've made on this very website. So while I could lie and say I went to bed in a timely manner, I'd be lying. Instead, I stayed up playing Counter Strike: Global Offensive till about 5 am. After that, I bought a few things I needed for the trip and got my ass over to the local Chevy dealer. I had an appointment to tune up my car before I go. So I sat there for like a hour, dying of sleep deprivation because I'm a moron.

I finally got onto the road and going about 11-12 am. I got the fuck out of Jacksonville, and about halfway across Florida when I finally decided to pull over to pass out. Didn't get to sleep for long as it being the middle of summer, I did nothing but sweat and overheat and woke up. But I got a hour or two in and continued driving. I gave myself 24 hours for what was essentially a 15 hour drive. I had plenty of time to get there.

I stopped maybe 3 more times. Mostly because I didn't sleep at all on Tuesday night... Pro tip: If you ever plan a drive that long, make sure you get plenty of sleep before hand. Anyway, I got to Austin around 10:30 am and got my ass straight to the convention center. Registration was at noon, so I figured I'd get in, get out, and get on my way. I walked around for a bit before getting in line because it was a pretty big place. While doing that I ran into Gus and had a quick chat with him, he was still helping everything and getting the place set up for the next day. Then Barbara came down the escalator, she didn't stop to talk to too many people but waved and said hi to everyone.

I got Chase and I's badges in like 5 minutes once the doors opened. So I hopped over to the hotel to shower. I unpacked, got to smelling better then I had, and waited to go to the airport for Chase to arrive. I left a hour early not realizing it because my watch was still set to Eastern Standard Time. But while in the airport, I ran into a whole lot of people who were attending RTX. I was easily identifiable thanks to the RTX badge, and they were easily identifiable thanks to the amount of shirts RoosterTeeth sells. But Chase arrived, we had our bro moment, and we got our asses back to the hotel.

We decided to take a note from the podcast and go get Homeslice for dinner. I'll post a pic, when I can but take my word for it, it was excellent pizza. The next three days, the days of the convention are actually a blur. So much happened and we were on the floor or at a panel most of our time. We ended up going out to lunch a few times. We had a blast.

I can't thank the people at RoosterTeeth that put that whole event together. Barbara and Gus, you guys are awesome! Everyone was nice, the Guardians were cool as shit, and the only time I saw someone a little sour was when they didn't get to ask their questions. And I know you guys would of liked to take them if you had the time, but sadly it doesn't always work out like that.

So till hopefully next year RTX. And Chase, it was awesome finally meeting you in person. We definitely need to do that shit again and get Adam involved. Kinda sucked that Aaron couldn't go but we made the best of it.

      Hey all,

Chase here, Chris is now in basic I have gotten an address! Now you can send him letters and awesome shit! You have 2 months to write him! Here is the address:

      SR Johndro, Christopher,
      Ship 9, Division 302
      3415 Sailor Drive
      Great Lake, IL, 60088-3415

Just FYI he might not be able to write everyone so don't hold it against him if he doesn't respond.

      Till next time

      InsaneDC

So... This is pretty much my last hurrah on here for 2 months. And I'll be the first to say that it came way sooner then I thought it would. Just to keep everyone in the know, Chase has been given my password to post my address in basic. So anyone is welcome to send me a letter. It will be posted here. I might trust him with this but I don't trust anyone with my Facebook. Though it will probably be posted on that thanks to my mother or even my recruiter.

But what is there to say... not a whole lot to be honest. If anyone does care to talk to me before I go, my last day on a computer is the 10th of June unless my sis lets me use her laptop when I'm downstate on the day before I go in. But really... not much point. I'll be honest though, I'm gonna miss the internet. I'm gonna miss some friends that I've made on here that I pretty much talk to every day that I can.

So you'll be without my asshole services for 2 months. Till then guys. And may I come out at least an E2 if not an E3. That would be awesome. Anyway... Cya!

My recruiter was able to sneak me into basic wicked early. Like next month early. Like June 12th. So expect to see Chase (Scarabgunyeah) poking around on my profile soon. I leave to him all the duties of being an asshole to the general populace. Because why the fuck not? Someone needs to take over for me while I'm gone for 2 months.

He'll basically be reporting to me the goings on around the gang, as well as posting a way to send me a letter in basic. And honestly, the more the merrier. Everyone who is cool enough to send something I'll try my damnedest to write back, if not, expect a long ass journal for when I get out. There will be some stories to tell I'm sure.

Sometime until lay May/early June I will also be in North Carolina saying goodbyes to some extended family as well as enjoying some time off from the telemarketing job that has been paying me for the past 3 years and 2 months. Honestly, never thought I was going to be there that long... ANYWAY...

I'll be on till around the 10th of June. Then Chase gets the controls. I'll probably be making one more journal before I officially go in, just thought I'd let everyone know what's going on.

Till next time guys. Wish me luck.

I know right... Can't wait for it though. Diablo is my favorite even over Starcraft. Though Starcraft is a close second. I'm not a huge Warcraft fan but I don't mind it. I played the hell out of WC3 and WoW though.

I started my Blizzard gaming back on Warcraft 2. So many great memories...

And no, sadly, there is no release date for D3. THOUGH, they did just announce that they will be moving PvP to one of the first patches instead of having it as a feature on retail. They said they were going to cut it so that they could hurry and get the game out. Here's hoping they get it out by this year!

I'm not happy because Karpyshyn is one of the best authors I've ever read and his ME novels were amazing. Yeah, I have only read the Flood, and it was the worst Halo book. Now he's going to be dealing with characters he didn't even create in a galaxy he's had nothing to do with. I'll wait until I read it to bash on the guy, but again, not happy about it.

      • InsaneDC

I will admit that The Flood was shit. But don't think about how you played Halo when you read it and it suddenly isn't so bad. The Starcraft 2 book he did recently, Heaven's Devils, was fucking amazing. And that's with me being a LONG time fan of that world. The Mass Effect books, I never could get into. I had to push myself through the first one. And it still took me 3 months to read. It was however a decent read and I enjoyed it for what it was, a look before ME1. But here this year, we have 2 authors writing stories started by other authors and 2 big fan bases that are going to be pissed at the slightest inconsistency between stories. And I must say, I've already read chapter 1 of Karen Travis's new book continuing Nylund's masterpiece and it's fucking garbage. She bounces around too much and fucking flies off of the handle with anything that was in the last part of Ghosts. No matter what the authors will piss someone off in those fan groups. The problem is usually that they're not being taken for their own piece of work. Every book is a simple product made up of three things. A beginning, a middle, and an end. Just because a book is in a series does not mean that the author will stay the same. And when the next Halo book arrives, I will buy it for my kindle and read it and take it for where it starts and what happens differently then if Nylund were writing it. Because if I don't I will compare it to his work and they be doing her work an injustice. You as a ME fan are getting a continuation to whatever story is in the books! You don't have the right to bitch about someone doing their job. Maybe Karpyshyn was busy working on ME3! Which is probably the case! You really want to wait for a book or like Bioware, would you rather try and make money off of book sales before the game hits and try to tie up some loose ends?

We only had a brief discussion while everyone was still together, and we did consider other locations, and the possibilities it had in terms of activities and attendance, but we took into consideration a few factors that made Chicago the "next" location.

The first thing we though about what we could do. I suggested Comic Con, but it would be difficult to get everyone a ticket to ensure everyone's enjoyment, and the sheer size of Comic Con would make it difficult for us to really "bond."

Then we had places like Canada, but not everyone is capable of willing to leave the country. Then New York would be too busy and cramped for us to coordinate transportation.

From a location standpoint, Chicago is kind of right in the middle of the country and makes a majority of the distance equal for everyone.

The next big factor was administration/hosting. While we would prefer to pick a place where one of us is from, we agreed that I'm probably the only one responsible enough to organize everything; from transportation to and from Chicago (in terms of, if you flew I got you to and from the airport kind of deal), local transportation (public transportation aside, personal transportation gave us that fluidity that we needed in our schedule and activities), a wide array of activities (large attractions aside, I did get creative with Extreme Trampoline, and our LAN party probably would not have happened were it not for my church. It would be difficult for people to lug around all of their gaming equipment). Then food, shelter, and all of that other tiny little stuff.

We're not saying anyone else is not capable, but a lot of people agreed they would not be willing to deal with everything I just mention.

Despite all of that, a change of location is definitely still up in the air, but those are some things we need to take into consideration.

I'm pretty sure it will have its own Mac version. Almost every game released by EA on PC recently have also been Mac compatible.
Some examples are Spore, The Sims 3, and Dragon Age 2.

Alternatively, if you can, you can install a Windows OS on the Mac via a program called "Boot Camp", and the games still run like they do on a native windows PC.

I feel the same way, I wish all the time we could go back to the days of Halo 2. Now a days it seems people take the game too seriously and it just brings the overall mood down. I played with some old friends in Halo 2 a few weeks back and just had a blast, it was all about having fun. Recently, though, I've just been losing interest in gaming online. I've been focusing more on single player games because the atmosphere of online gaming just isn't the same.
