Had a halfway decent night at work and come home to a fucking ambush from hell from my mother. I know how much it takes to piss me off, because it rarely happens ever since I learned to control my emotions a lot better. But how the hell, in just a couple sentences can I go from happy to so pissed off I have to put on my $300 A50s and shut out the world? This bugs me in more ways then one and is one of the many reasons I have yet to go to sleep this morning. Whatever... Back to the games that get me out of this world, if only in my head...

    • The Important Things

      InsaneDC

There are a few things in this world above all else that should be considered more important then most everyday things. For example, the friendships we make and family we have are always one of the easiest to consider because they're in our minds day after day. But what about the little things that, while not prominent in our minds, are still important to a general sanity and keeping it together on a daily basis?

Today, well yesterday now, my 10 year old Jack Rat Terrier Gap went into the vet to get a couple teeth pulled. And while not everything went as planned, what was basically told to me was that he went in to get 3 teeth that looked really bad pulled out. What ended up happening though is that he got 10 instead. Some of you know that my dogs are some of my only friends that I have left up here where I live because of a number of reasons. Most of them being, I hate people and I hate being used even more. But when I came home from work and saw the puppy turned old dog that I have put a lot of love into on the couch, in pain, and could barely find the strength to find his way over to me, I was infuriated. How the hell can, on a visit practically every 6 months, the vet not take a look and say, we should probably do something about his teeth. Or actually listen to the fact that we've been telling the vet that he's had bad breath the last year. Instead, my best friend in this world now has to lay in a cage every night instead of laying with me in case he somehow gets hurt. I fucking hate people.

How about the little games/books/comics/whatever it might be that takes us out of our world and has us imagine what could be? Those of us that play games to escape reality to just get away from the stress of the everyday world. Granted that there is games out there COUGHCALLOFDUTYCOUGH that just end up pissing some of us off even more. But most do what we want them to, when we need them too. Tonight, I played a little more of StarCraft 2 Heart of the Swarm until I got another couple missions in and realized that it's going to be another pain filled adventure down memory lane for me. So a couple missions at a time is all how it's probably going to play out. Then when memories started to flash, I switched over to Diablo 3 and started working on my inferno playthrough which is actually going pretty smoothly now that I got some new weapons, new armor, and just better general equipment. And I played that for about 3 hours before I even realized it.

How about the power of music? The effect it has on our brains and can make us feel a certain way. For me lately, the song Some Nights by FUN has pretty much been my personal motto since I first heard that song. I just can't stop listening to it let alone stop listening to music at all. My nexus is always seeing music come and go. And now I have 3 new albums to listen to. Coheed and Cambria has a new one, Trapt does as well, and finally Buckcherry's latest is actually pretty good. I seriously can't get enough of that song by FUN though.

For everyone, the little things are always different. For me, It's my dogs, the things that take me out of reality, and music, in that order. And I know it will change one day. But for now, I wouldn't have it any other way. And with that I'm off to bed boys and girls. Later.

I've been playing more and more League of Legends lately.

Anybody who cares to add me whenever I'm on I'm more then likely to play. Though I've just been playing with bots so far. I don't seem to have a bad setup going.

    • My Dead Space review (no spoilers)

      InsaneDC

There's few experiences out there that literally take you by arm and pull you through their world and are as satisfying as the world of Dead Space and the freakshow that is Issac Clark.

Let's go back a couple months. Dead Space 3 had been announced for awhile now and I was burning through all the games last fall, the ones I wanted to play at least. But talking over with one buddy in particular, we got to talking about Dead Space. I had only ever had one very bad experience with a demo back when the original came out in 2008 and the only true horror game I've ever really played was F.E.A.R. So my good friend Chase (Scarabgunyeah on XBL) sent me his copies of Dead Space and Dead Space 2 for me to play. I told him, because Dead Space 3 has co-op that when it hits, I'll pick it up and we'll kill the hell out of some necromorphs together.

So I got the games exactly 3 weeks ago. And the plan was to beat them before Dead Space 3 came out. So I took to my task and started slow not wanting to miss any of Issac's story. And I found myself playing it sloppy. I wasn't putting my full effort into the game because it took awhile to actually "get it." Most shooters, even survival horror ones, I typically aim for an enemy's head because well, the head is the most obvious weak point in almost any game out on the market right now. But not so in the world of Dead Space where the enemies you face are reanimated humans with a few extras and an uncanny affliction for human flesh. You can think of them as zombies for the most part. So in Dead Space, the zombish necromorphs' weak points are actually their appendages. Which would make for a great penis joke here... But I'm bone dry... sorry about that, couldn't resist.

Now other than the big shooty parts of the game there are plenty of other things to do. There's puzzle sections (which offer little to no hints on how to solve them, which in my opinion is freaking awesome), boss fights, mini games and a massive world in text and audio logs to build the world and give it more back story. But what starts out as a simple rescue the girl and save our own ass in the process type story gets turned into some of the most visually and most psychologic intense experiences I've had this side of gaming in the past... ever.

You see, Issac Clark isn't a hero by any stretch of the imagination. He's a simple engineer, with a girlfriend, in space. And he just happens to end up in the wrong place at the wrong time. But what looks like a bad situation and it usually is, actually ends up being one of the best experiences I've had in gaming since I found Minecraft two years ago.

And that was just the first game.

The second title in the series is where Visceral and EA decided to kick it up a notch it seems. While every review of the second seems to state that 2 is the less scary of the first two Dead Space games, it was the exact opposite for me. Mind you, I played these games in the middle of the night, with the lights turned off, with my $300 surround sound headphones on. Let me just be the first to state that I jumped way more when once. I honestly put down the controller and the headset at one point because I was that shaken by what was going on. Dead Space 2 had my brain working in overdrive. Mainly because of the story. And what I am trying to force myself to say is that the story gets... deep. Issac, being a normal guy ends up being very traumatized by the events of the first game. So much so, he's going insane throughout the second. It made for a very different gameplay experience. And that's as light as I can really put it without spoiling anything from a 5 year old game.

Dead Space and Dead Space 2 were some of the most fun I've had on the current iteration of consoles and I hope that only continues when I get my copy of 3 today. But with that said, if you ever wanted to try it out, I highly recommend it. It was a mind blowingly fun experience that I would definitely do again in a heartbeat.

Thank you so much Chase for the chance to play them. Because without you letting me borrow them, I would've missed out on what I would safely call one of the best game worlds of this console generation. Also, if you read this far, thanks for taking the time out of the day to do so. I put a lot of work into my "little" reviews and if you could, please comment and leave some feedback. That would be awesome.

I think myself a rather unique person. Granted that view might be a little biased, but here's how I see myself. I'm a 25 year old male who's a bit rough on the outside, but once you get to know me, and I mean really get to know me, I open up into a totally different person. Some of you have gotten to know the softer side of me over the years and while that tough guy act, and I'll be honest, that's all it really is, isn't going anywhere I have my little moral dilemmas inside of my own head.

The latest dilemma came with a woman who I've come to know very well over most of 2012. She's cute, she's a gamer, and turns out she actually liked me. However, over the past couple months of nothing but total headgames, I'm turning the fucking page and moving on. And I know how happy a couple of you are going to be by this. But here's the really tough part. I have to ask for help on this one. I need someone to check in every so often and make sure I'm not contacting this fucking bitch in anyway possible, no matter how many times she contacts me. And I know she will, because she's just fucking like that.

      Anyone up for the job?

      This...

That feels about the way I'm ending this year as well. Fuck... I kinda thought I was doing better. Hoped I was at least. Now? Now I realize that this past year I've been stuck in the same dead end job, doing the same thing I was doing last year with even less friends and more enemies. I'm no closer to any kind of relationship, being with someone special anyway. And instead of looking forward of joining the military, I honestly don't want to because I can't join the branch that I want.

This year, 2012, I went from one problem to the next. And I found myself no further from solving anything that I set out to. I feel so freaking helpless it's sickening. This upcoming year, 2013, I have no hopes, no dreams to put on myself. No sense of belonging to be found, no place on this earth to call home. I'm a lost soul right now, and if I'm in the same position this time next year... I just don't know anymore guys...

There's not enough people on here anymore to warrant coming on here daily anymore. That's actually kinda sad when you sit down and think about it. Most of us have been apart of RvB for well over five years at this point, yet nobody is on.

I've come to find that this world just keeps getting worse and worse. I made a couple friends and lost a couple friends the past few months. Thought I found someone who actually got me on a personal level. But nope, was wrong on that front too. A couple of weeks ago I was actually happy for a good while. I let my walls down a bit to much and I go tumbling. How is that fair?

Oh well, guess I'll just start doing monthly updates instead of the update when I feel like it thing. Not only will it help me keep some kind of record of what happens but will also give me some perspective. I went back in time recently and took a look at some of my old works. Poems, letters, things that actually come from my heart. Its been forever I've used my heart to write anything. Kinda wonder when it will happen again.

Other then that, I'm still trying to get into the military. Still writing to the best of my ability with my head. Still gaming, listening to music, and just being me. InsaneDC the human, forever more.

Here is the link to the more recent episodes of FMA: Brotherhood. Apparently, I just now noticed that the final episode has been posted.

The link sends you to episode 61, right where Father is pulling God down to absorb him. Not sure if you're already past that, but if you are, under the video player is the link to the next episode.

Exactly. I was actually feeling kind of bad for Father. He only wanted to be the most free person in world( and theoretically in this universe, being someone more powerful than God should make this possible).
Oh, and Greed. I almost cried in that scene of his heroic sacrifice.

I'm looking forward to the Epilogue.

Oh and Double Agent only had bad reviews because it was a change from the norm and people don't like it when others experiment. Plus it has a massive plot twist in it that is what is leading up to Conviction and it even shows all of them in it, they even mention all of it in the Conviction book. It's worth the play, especially since it has part of the story that leads up to all of this.

Sounds good. Hopefully they will turn a new leaf. The majority of the group are young right now, so hopefully they'll get more mature in the next few years. I was really trying to get them to snap out of it for awhile, but I've given up on them because they apparently have pushed me out of the group even though I was a major part of the group and I'd been around longer than half of the ones in it now. I got tired of that constant revolving door of new people though, and it still seems like it's going from what I've been told. I only keep in contact with a few of them on Skype since I never get on LIVE much anymore. I'm still dealing with a ton of bs in my life right now too, but nothing on the scale you're dealing with. So I'm the same way as you, I don't feel like putting up with their petty drama over small things that have no major point to them when I'm dealing with more serious things in real life and just want to have fun online and unwind instead of put up with more drama.

    • Dr_Eggman

I'm fed up with it too. One major reason I left. I got tired of everyone having their little in-fights and conflicts and being immature half the time and not to mention rude. I've also been busy with college still too, so of course I don't have the ability to renew my LIVE or get all of the new games coming out. Of course, I'm lucky I was able to get my Xbox replaced. Mine busted awhile back, but I was able to get a new one. I don't use it much though right now since I'm busy with college and not really willing to deal with the constant shifting and changing in the group especially since half of the group has reverted to being immature and insensitive.
